Re: Round-by-Round: Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019
You don't need to be very skillful when you have retard power like that. Holy moly...

Anyone know the cards? I'm wondering if Ortiz 'officially' improved on the first fight or not

Does scorecards... haha! Damn, might be losing the fight then he throws a one right hand and ends it.
This is pretty typical Wilder. Looks beatable but get away with it since he can take a good punch and gives back a Hell Mary in return.
Kudos.

Ya same old Wilder....it's funny to still read RBR threads where people say he looks awful (fair enough) and that he's done or 'helpless'. Have you not seen him fight bruh
Re: Round-by-Round: Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019
Quite right too.
Fury was boxing his ears off and was unlucky, but finally - I'm a Wilder fan.
He may be the biggest one shot banger ever

Not at all. He was extremely calm and never got wild. He showed an effective left hook that I think really gave Ortiz something else to think about. Was he behind on my card? Absolutely, but he was obviously not trying to win a decision here.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 01:50Well, I guess no matter how many rounds he loses, as long as he gets there in the end we can just say he was taking his time to figure things out![]()

A lot of you short change Wilder. True hes not the slickest technician in the division. But power doesn't matter if you can't land it. And he's been able to land it on everyone he's faced. Deontay knows he's not the most skilled which is why he always says his opponents have to be perfect for twelve rounds. He only needs to be perfect for 1 second.
And that statement sums up tonight's fight.

Typical Wilder stuff. Badly outboxed by the top level. Eraser applied. Dude hits like a piledriver.

In other words, you are trying to spin losing pretty much every round into a positive for your boy. New punches, mobility, and defense!! And timing and patience! Heck, what didn't he show ?oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 01:58Not at all. He was extremely calm and never got wild. That power is special for sure, we saw that again. But there was nothing else impressive and certainly nothing really improved this time IMO.
Wilder can just be Wilder and still probably get a win over every HW, we don't need to reach for him

It’s good to see Wilders most recent KD’s or KO’s have been calculated punches and not just swinging..
Re: Round-by-Round: Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019
This is 2 fights in a row where I've called the exact round Wilder would get the KO in. I'm getting good with being able to read this guy
Ortiz probably would've been better suited to just go for broke early, and make a war out of it. I don't think anybody would argue that he's the more talented of the two with the better craft and technical skill. Playing the long game didn't work the 1st time, and it didn't work this time. He should've went for it early while he had full strength, and just tried to land the big shot before Wilder did.
He tried the same thing though, and got the same result. The Bomb Squad goes on to the next raid.

Face it Margie, you just won't ever give him credit. So long as he keeps winning.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 02:03In other words, you are trying to spin losing pretty much every round into a positive for your boy. Wilder is such an open book at this point to anyone with two eyes and a reasonable mind. Limited skills and IQ but absolutely hard hitting as f@ck and with the speed and reach to land that right eventually.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 02:01 A lot of you short change Wilder. He is better than a lot give him credit for in that if he keeps landing that money shot opponent after opponent, but at the same time I'm not buying any of this 'patience' 'mobility' 'defense' etc stuff. He's not improving and won't improve any more....but hell, he may not need to do that to beat all the others.

Just watching the replay.. Ortiz spent too much time trying to sort out his gumshield
Re: Round-by-Round: Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019
Ortiz was expecting a hook there. See him raise his left to the side of his head. Wilder shot the right down the pike. Not a lucky shot at all.

That's your sensitive nuthugger speaking. I've given him credit all the time and picked him to beat every HW in the world. I used to get called out because I picked him over Wlad and Vit. Just because I'm not going out of my way to shower positives on his boxing skills and IQ when he lost 5 of 6 doesn't mean I'm not giving credit mateoogiebe wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 02:05Face it Margie, you just won't ever give him credit. But he was patient. Granted, he was getting thoroughly schooled in the process. But staying composed all that time is a very beneficial trait.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 02:06Wilder is such an open book at this point to anyone with two eyes and a reasonable mind.
