John Fury has a mentality that has got him success throughout his life?TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑11 Apr 2020, 06:21 Good post. Some guys are just stubborn. It's a character trait that probably made them the fighter they were so it's a positive trait but at the same time it makes them a bit of a pr*ck to be around and makes them look petty and
It's a difficult one because this kind of mentality is what got them success throughout their lives you'd think.

Re: Big John Fury called out
This guy has even made a fight poster, and declares the fight is officially on. I cant see Big John backing out of this, wether he really wants the fight or not, the gypsy code means he has to fight him now, right?
Just seen a clip of John where he was lifting heavy weights after apparantly running 3 miles. Seems he might not be in too bad shape after all.
A slew of videos like this are surely on the cards now.
Re: Big John Fury called out
So are we reckoning this will be bare knuckle or with 10oz gloves? Either way surely Big John smashes him.
Re: Big John Fury called out
Listening to this Theo, he wants a proper boxing match, ring, gloves, ref et all, he's probably hoping for a proper crowd and some cameras, so he can be confident its just him and John fighting. I doubt he signs up for any sort of back yard bare knuckle type brawl,
might never see the poor fella ever again lol

Kugan jumping in on this now: https://youtu.be/lukZBxYBRdU
Signs the interview off with "lets get it on". Not very professional IFL jumping on an interview with this Theo so quickly, a bit stupid i think, given Kugan knows John and the Furys well, and they give him tons of access. Out of respect maybe he should have spoken with the Furys first, got their take on this, and to see if they really want to persue this, before proceeding to go out and promote it and further draw a 54 year old John into it. Thats my two pence anyway.

Bare knuckle in a field or it doesn't count
John never so much as took an aspirin in prison so he won't want to burden the NHS with on-site paramedics or whatever. it's in the woods with nobody around or not at all, preferably either captured on an 80's camcorder or only in the mind of the spectators, who can re-tell the events around night site camp fires.

This shows the difference between someone who knows what he's doing in the ring and a bodybuilder , and Alexandra Emelianenko looks like he could of knocked the guy out at any moment he chose.

True but Alex is close to his active years, when you get these guys nearing 60 it's a long time for things to change and more and more of it becomes who is aging better and staying more active

Re: Big John Fury called out
Has big john set up a google alerts for people calling him out?
They should both grow up really. I know they whole gypsy never back out of a fight rubbish but his sons a millionaire. I’d be too busy sipping cocktails to be arsed to even move let alone fight... didn’t he end up in prison last time too? Won’t look good on Tyson in the papers too... the mail will love that sh1t
Also, that other blokes a proper melt too. Was that sparring video in slow motion? And saying he’ll do a fight for COVID19? Erm... I don’t think you can have a social distancing fight

That video must be gamesmanship because he looks fornicating awful in that, against a bloke who clearly trains in the pub. Must be better than that.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑12 Apr 2020, 19:49 Also, that other blokes a proper melt too. Was that sparring video in slow motion? And saying he’ll do a fight for COVID19? Erm... I see a video of him getting 4th place in a bodybuilding comp (which for some reason gets you a trophy) and him throwing a roid rage hissy fit and chucking the trophy on the floor. He was definitely shorter than the glamour girls there to dish out the trophies so I don't think he's really all that big? 5'8, 5'9?

Re: Big John Fury called out
TBH not sure what looks so poor about his sparring for a 56 year old, obviously he wasn't in with anyone good but looked okay on his end and like he could move his hands at least decently for an old boi?
Re: Big John Fury called out
I was thinking similarly. He looked alright for a 56 year old. It was only a spar, but showed he had technique, can throw a punch, reasonable movement, and looked like he could likely go a few rounds. He obviously fancies the job too, so i woukd not write him off so quickly. Big John comes with his reputation, but one that he built many years ago. Nobody seems to have seen any footage at all from his fighing days, never mind in the past few years. He does not appear in the best of health, so he might even struggle to throw a punch these days, never mind box for a few rounds?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Apr 2020, 22:29 TBH not sure what looks so poor about his sparring for a 56 year old, obviously he wasn't in with anyone good but looked okay on his end and like he could move his hands at least decently for an old boi?

I’m so glad some irrelevant cockney pudding is trying so hard to help the poor old NHS, without guys like this where would we all be during this tough time.

Yeah it is on YouTube. It is hilarious. I wonder if Eddie will seek to promote this? Could have it on Tysons undercrd and also include Tommy Fury.Bleak wrote: ↑13 Apr 2020, 04:55I read about that reaction to his fourth place ,is it on you tubeclopixolacuphase wrote: ↑12 Apr 2020, 22:23

During the British champs one year he wasn't happy with his placing, so he grabbed the 1st place trophy and lobbed it into the crowd before storming off. I can't remember the year, but it was a show that Rhino from gladiators was in. Early 90s sometime.

Re: Big John Fury called out
Even outside of boxing. I watched another interview with Theo and he’s honestly basing his fighting skills off getting smashed in a two min ‘spar’ with Lenny McLean. Tragic.mercman wrote: ↑13 Apr 2020, 08:36Dear me, what a prat![]()
Tell you what though, this Mick Theo looks far too small to be fighting John Fury.
OK, Theo's pumped up on gear but he only looks about 5'8" or something (as another poster said). Fury's a naturally big guy. 6' 3" or so, a proper heavyweight with a big reach, etc. So Theo might be in for a shock if he gets in a ring with him.
Either way, the history of boxing is littered with examples of bodybuilders and weightlifters who have come badly unstuck when they think they can fight.

Lock them in a room together and see who comes out with the key
Re: Big John Fury called out
Not sure what you're seeing in that spar. It was a very gentle spar, its not like they were going at it: He was just touching his sparring partner. And didn't you notice, when he stopped allowing himself to be a punchbag and threw back, how the other bloke caught him flush far too easily? If that was an inter club I wouldn't have been impressed. Also, 56 isn't that old, really. It's too old to compete with young lads but there are plenty of very fit blokes in their 50's. I can imagine people in his gym patting him on the back and saying how great he looks still: who'd want to tell him he doesn't?ALI wrote: ↑13 Apr 2020, 03:22I was thinking similarly. With regards to Big John though, you've got a point. Never seen him fight. Travellers don't age well either: they're men at 15 and bloody look it, too! As Calzaghe once said about Hopkins "He does a lot of fighting... With his mouth!"' but is there even a video of him on the bag? Looks well scary and seems a bit mental, but he also looks like he's getting on. My Dad's 75 and couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding but has a dreadful temper on him and could probably be framed on camera when he has one of his hissyfits, with a bit of fake background, so that people would say "oh you still wouldn't want to mess with him, would you?" even though he couldn't fight sleep in his prime.

I met Big John last year and he is certainly not small or out of shape. He’s a unit.

Get a shirtless Frank Grant to stand in the pouring rain and scream "Fight me!" at the pair of them as they sit cowering in an 80's Ford Transit van and I'll watch it.
