Can’t see Garcia knocking him out. Campbell went the distance with Linares and Loma. Ry has some nasty hand speed and I respect the talent immensely, but I think we’re about to see the young guy tested like he hasn’t been before.
Yes. This is a fight that answers questions.
I recently went back and watched the Linares fight for the first time. Campbell has some incredible skills. He’s a little too one dimensional at times. If he’s improved on that aspect he might just win. Im even more confident he will go the distance with young Ry after watching him get up from that early knockdown against Linares. That was a nasty shot that would finish most lightweights.
I still think Garcia wins on superior speed and size. Campbell will outbox him at times, but I think Garcia is the better overall talent and it will come through in combinations. Plus he’ll be prepared for Campbell - for whom there’s plenty of tape. Can see him timing and landing that right hand in lightning fashion.
Garcia by a close DEC. that’s my pick.

Going by the fact that Garcia is the huge money 'A side' here and that British fighters have once more reverted to mainly being employed as stepping up/ belt collecting fodder, this can only go one way.
So go on then Campbell, surprise us.
We dare you to defy the 70-30 odds here.
It's not very likely to happen, is it?
I'm expecting a late stoppage win for boxing's new glamour boy, Ryan Garcia, and a whole twitterfest load of hype and hoopla to follow.

I don’t hate Garcia, I just feel he’s untested. Quick Ko’s are cool and a great hype driver but we miss out on seeing important information about the fighter. I mean a few fights ago Garcia was walked down and wobbled by a jab. That’s a concern. Has he improved? Potentially, but it remains to be seen in my eyes.
Many people have talked about his talent, etc. Maybe I’m just unable to appreciate it at this time, because I’m shit at watching boxing. Could be. Currently I don’t believe in him and don’t believe he can beat someone like Campbell.

Someone’s gonna look stupid Saturday. It’s either me or a bunch of you. I accept that. Garcia in 4. Garcia KO-4

Let’s get the new year started off right! I stood by while Scott continually blasphemed good ol’ Luke Campbell by predicting Garcia to KO him in FOUR rounds for most of 2020. I mean lord have mercy, if Garcia gets Campbell (by far the best opponent he’s ever faced) out of there in four rounds, I’ll fuckin’ vinyl wrap my car ‘KingRy’. I know Garcia has the makings of a true star in this sport because of his ability to attract attention but he’s also been very carefully handled to this point, which I wouldn’t mind so much if he wasn’t talking big shit all the time.
I personally wouldn’t mind seeing this guy get his ass handed to him in the ring, so it sort of pains me to see that he’s aligned himself with one of the best trainers in the sport in Eddy Reynoso and is making solid improvements because of it. I’ve still yet to see any real body punching from Garcia, and to me that remains the glaringly biggest hole in his game. As his competition gets better, he’s not going to just be able to skate on fast hands which go headhunting. This is a considerable step up so far as I can tell, as Campbell is much more well-rounded and experienced. I’m praying he’ll use that to deal me some satisfaction. Campbell UD-12
Patrick L. Stumberg
Despite a persona seemingly custom-made to engender antipathy, Garcia’s talent is legitimate. His speed and power are eye-catching in the extreme, and they’ve thus far proven magnificently effective against those who find themselves in the firing line. What’s missing at the moment is footwork; while he demonstrated far better movement against Romero Duno and Francisco Fonseca than he did against prior foe Jose Lopez, particularly when it came to getting pivoting away from pressure, he’s still worryingly flat-footed.
That’s what makes this fight so interesting. Campbell’s legs carried him past the pressure of Yvan Mendy in their rematch, and though the Frenchman can’t hope to compare to Garcia’s firepower, he’s a lot more dogged in his pursuit. Garcia will find it profoundly difficult to keep Campbell where he wants him, and we’ve yet to see him have to really press that issue against quality opposition.
Whether it’s legitimate analysis, a personal distaste for Garcia seeping in, or something else, I like Campbell here. He survives a few rough rounds to take over down the stretch, dancing circles around and potshotting an increasingly frustrated Garcia for the win. Campbell UD-12
Lewis Watson
If you’re to believe the bookies on this one, they are giving Campbell around a 25% chance of winning this fight. As much as I concede that Garcia is the slight favourite on Saturday, Luke’s experience and pedigree can’t be slept on. Timing is everything inside and outside of the ring in boxing, and GBP believe the time is now for a Garcia step-up. His lightning hands and left hook inside the ropes are where he can trouble Campbell, but the seasoned southpaw has experience in world title fights, Olympic finals and clambering to his feet numerous times having suffered a knockdown. If Garcia is to put Campbell down, he’s going to have to keep him down. The Brit is hungrier than ever for this one and will be fearful, at 33, and with three losses on his record, that another big chance as a pro may not come knocking.
Garcia is talented. But he’s also hyped and untested. A loss to Campbell wouldn’t be the end of the world for “King Ry” and without that ‘all or nothing’ mentality he may come unstuck if nudged into deeper waters. Let’s start 2021 with a bang and shoot for Luke, late. ENG-GER-LANDDDD!! etc., etc. Campbell TKO-11
And the staff winner is...
Luke Campbell (3-1)!

Boxing journalism is almost a contradiction in terms.
The bookmakers have long known that Garcia only has to show up and finish on his feet to win.

Interesting that Hearn would import a British judge who has only worked outside the UK twice in 141 bouts. I'll be paying special attention to his scorecard. Also I find it curious that this fight card will be shown in mid-afternoon in Texas to accommodate British viewers. Even Brit stars like Ricky Hatton, Tyson Fury & Callum Smith didnt rate that kind of treatment. https://box.live/us-boxing-tv-schedule/dazn/

Was RG wobbled by a jab ? Missed that, when did that happen ? Not that Luke is much of threat with big punches ...
Worry for RG fans is he’s over confident, and when Luke Inevitably takes him late will he start to get frustrated...my bet is Garcia wins on points

Fury vs. Cunningham was at a UK friendly time as well.
I think DAZN are doing it for UK subs. Even the GGG fight was around 2am here, much better than 4-5am..
Drive more subs for UK. Cali will have the main event around 4pm? I don’t know.

That fight is on Facebook.
Golden Boy Fight Night, scroll down to July 24th, 2020 it has a replay there.
Before the pandemic hit a lot of small club shows and un-televised undercards were being broadcast on the Facebook watch platform.
Saw Garcia there twice I think.

Got a feeling many are being swayed by the success Campbell had against Loma. Garcia presents much different issues for Campbell offensively, than Loma despite still being untested.
Not that Garcia has the defence than Loma or skills, but could see Garcia have far more success landing heavier shots, more frequently on Campbell here.
Garcia by a statement stoppage!

Thanks I’ll try to find that fight, though I’m not on FB any longer.
Trying to consider a good bet, a friend just went LC to win, on points is tempting but unlikely given the big money behind a RG win and “impressed” judges, who know who’s meant to be winning here ...
But Garcia could just step up and become the star he seems destined to be...I can’t see him flattening Luke, though he does look a serious hitter...
DDD was a seemingly big star derailed recently, I sort of hope Garcia steps up and does the business, but might still put a bet on Luke, TKO cuts or something might be an outside possibility .. but all told you gotta think Garcia wins this

Bear in mind it took an unexpected stoppage and as fellow poster finkel reminded me, DDD was ahead on the 2 of the 3 cards at the time.
Campbell can win, but he'll need a stoppage.
Not going to happen. OK, he's got a 20% chance. But the bookies will only give you 25%.
Clever bookies.

I don't imagine Campbell is going to allow himself to be put away early. I gather he will fight the first 4 or 5 rounds with great caution & then gradually put the pressure on Garcia as the fight wears on. I think Ryan will have to outbox him & win a decision rather than one of his spectacular knockouts. Campbell is too experienced to make silly mistakes early & he will have a sound game plan for this fight. Garcia UD

I’ve read that Garcia will earn a guaranteed $500k which could increase to up-to $2m depending on DAZN Subs.
Campbell will earn around $400k, could potentially increase to $1m..
These are not confirmed, so don’t take my word for it. They’re based on the boxers contracts.
