According to The RING’s rules, the winner of Jermell Charlo’s 154lbs title unification bout against Jeison Rosario should capture the vacant RING championship belt, in addition to the WBC, WBA & IBF straps.

And Jermall Charlo is performing a title defence against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, with the Ukranian considered amongst the top-five world-rated 160lb-ers (by ESPN, The RING & TBRB), as well as being very unfortunate to have suffered losses to Jacobs and Golovkin.

If both Charlo’s emerge victorious in their respective bouts, then they almost certainly deserve to receive kudos, because it would be extremely ignorant to believe they’re being protected or needlessly being hyped.

If Jermall beats clearly Chenko I'd give him my appreciation. If it's a questionable win then NOT. We have to take in consideration that Chenko will be almost 35 y/o with two tough-top fights under his belt(Jacobs&GGG). Jermall has to look nothing but good in this fight. :TU:

If it’s a close fight between Charlo-Derevyanchenko, then we should hold the American accountable to the same standards applied to Jacobs & Golovkin’s victories over Sergiy.

We shouldn’t raise the bar of expectations higher, just because we’re talking about Jermall Charlo.

Standards have to either be applied consistently or not at all, because after all, Jacobs & Golovkin’s victories over Sergiy were both questionable.

There's currently no evidence of the Ukranian's decline.

You also said:

"Still, Derevyanchenko is on the cusp turning 35 years of age, and he’s had a few tough gruelling battles recently. And this may benefit the younger and fresher American."

Indeed there is no evidence knowing the last performance against GGG but there is no doubt that Chenko is gonna be almost 35 y/o and he had some wear a tear from the Jacobs and GGG fights. Father Time can be merciless.
