I'm guessing a BIBA world champion is a completely different level to a genuine title holder in the pro game.
BIBA are affiliated with IBF WBA and I've herd the WBO are on with them now as well. So if they recognise them then it's pro boxing. You may not like another board in Britain but he ho that's boxing, and other country's have 4 boards, Germany for 1 Australia is the same, and America has a different board for every state. It passes the criteria to be professional boxing. Granted the EBU the BBBofC the Commonwealth boxing council or the WBC don't recognize them, but the other ones do.

Interesting post. If an applicant satisfies all the medical requirements, including the brain scan, can demonstrate he's fairly competent in the ring, and will not bring the game into disrepute, then why not let them have a licence regardless of age.
If Harrison passes this criteria I'd grant him a licence but given his age I'd restrict him to 4x3's against an 'approved' opponent and assess him thereafter. Providing he continues to demonstrate he's capable I'd gradually up him to 6x3's and so on.
I'm pretty confident Harrison and his team would not accept these restrictions however. If he got a licence they'd immediately be looking for a 10 rounder against a well known opponent and some promoter could sell this.
Harrison would lose, regardless of the opponent, get bashed up, and then insist it was only a 'warm up' fight and it would take a few like this to get him back to his peak. You can imagine the scene.

Maybe the BBBoC dont have the money for legal fees etc if someone they dont think is worthy has an accident in the ring. Generally everything revolves around money in any walk of life. They maybe dont want another Michael Watson legal episode.

Well from their point of view, how many times was Harrison licensed and went and did something really stupid. Getting imprisoned in Spain was pretty bad for the image of British boxing. I don’t think the board can be particularly confident he wouldn’t go and do something violent and stupid again.

In the case of Harrison, a Leopard doesn't change his spots. His history speaks for itself.
We've been here before with him and he let's the board down. No he's not unique, but he'll no doubt falter again and why should the BBBofC get involved with him any more.
He's BIBA's problem now.
