I highly, highly doubt that.

I've looked for it and too be honest can't find antything about it ,,, but i distinctly remember when the film came out i went to see it , and after read that some of the people who fought for his release , were sorry they did , and he admitted he did it after his release , ,,, but like i say i can't find it anywhere , so i could be wrong , i could well have it all mixed up with something else , who knows .
Re: Who is the most evil boxer in boxing history?
He was released cuz of an unfair trial, not because he was innocent.

I can't imagine anybody doing 20 something years in prison, getting released because they're perceived to be not guilty, and then bragging that yeah they did it.coneye wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 02:28I've looked for it and too be honest can't find antything about it ,,, but i distinctly remember when the film came out i went to see it , and after read that some of the people who fought for his release , were sorry they did , and he admitted he did it after his release , ,,, but like i say i can't find it anywhere , so i could be wrong , i could well have it all mixed up with something else , who knows .
I'm sure he'd fear that they'd throw his ass right back in the slammer.
People that fought to free him later regretting it, that may well have happened. Rubin himself admitting he did it. I can't imagine he would've been that foolish.

Wrote more great songs in 1965 alone than most people ever do in a career.

True ,,, especielly if he was only released because of un fair trial ,has Duran said , what i did find was an article that said , he was actually a very bad man , with quite a few bad things on his record , and they released him because some witness or two had died and they just did'nt want to do a third trial ..... I then asked my son if he remembered it , because it was a while ago , and he said he remembered me showing him an article , but it was'nt Carter claiming he done it after , It was apparantly one of the people instrumental in helping his release , later said they were sorry they got involved because they now changed there mind and thought he was guilty .. My mistake it was a long time agogilgamesh wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 11:54I can't imagine anybody doing 20 something years in prison, getting released because they're perceived to be not guilty, and then bragging that yeah they did it.coneye wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 02:28I've looked for it and too be honest can't find antything about it ,,, but i distinctly remember when the film came out i went to see it , and after read that some of the people who fought for his release , were sorry they did , and he admitted he did it after his release , ,,, but like i say i can't find it anywhere , so i could be wrong , i could well have it all mixed up with something else , who knows .

He had 2 trials and was found guilty in both of them, he got released on a technicality, at no point did any judge or jury conclude that he didnt do it or probably didnt do it. He's a pretty phony folkhero tbh.gilgamesh wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 11:54I can't imagine anybody doing 20 something years in prison, getting released because they're perceived to be not guilty, and then bragging that yeah they did it.coneye wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 02:28I've looked for it and too be honest can't find antything about it ,,, but i distinctly remember when the film came out i went to see it , and after read that some of the people who fought for his release , were sorry they did , and he admitted he did it after his release , ,,, but like i say i can't find it anywhere , so i could be wrong , i could well have it all mixed up with something else , who knows .

Although if i recall, Dylan never played the song live after 1976, maybe he found out more about his protagonist and felt like a silly cuntt playing it
Re: Who is the most evil boxer in boxing history?
James Scott - LHW contender of the 70's who fought out of Rahway prison and beat Eddie Gregory and Dwight Qawi from memory. Alleged to have thrown someone off a roof amongst other pretty nasty stuff including murder. Lifer, I think he died in prison a few years ago
Didn't Hurrucane move to Canada for reasons to do with not being able to be arrested again? (or something similar. Either way...O J impson all over again, meaning the file remained open but the cops never bothered investigating it further because they already knew who did it)

Let's not forget Ricky Womack...beat Holyfield a couple of times as an amateur but couldn't stop doing aggravated armed robberies despite Emanuel Steward giving him a free place to live, a car etc etc. A wrong'un if ever there was one ![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)
Re: Who is the most evil boxer in boxing history?
It's detailed in 'War, Baby!' a book about the Mcclellan-Benn fight, as well as him mowing down flamingos in his car. It's worth a read.
Has anybody mentioned Clifford Ettiene? His bio on Boxrec reads: "Originally convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to 40 years in prison before being released, he was a member of the 'Gunslingers' prison boxing team in Louisiana. Reportedly had an unprecedented 30-0 prison record.
Convicted again in March 2006 of attempted murder and several other charges. Etienne stole more than $1900 from a check-cashing business in August 2005, and then stole a car with two children inside before crashing it. When police responded to the scene, Etienne tried to shoot them but his gun jammed. On June 22nd 2006, he was sentenced to 150 years in prison without the possibility of parole"
Ike Ibeabuchi was another one who's still in prison now, but he's properly mentally ill and was committed, or whatever they do in the US instead of sectioning people. Sod being on the team that had to take him on to jab him!
