A fantastic finish from Davis but fair play to Santa Cruz who was really taking it to Davis and giving him all sorts of problems.
Decent undercard fight between Barrios and Karl too.
When boxing is like this, there’s nothing better :TU:
Brilliant isn’t it. No other sport comes close.

Could maybe have milked more seconds of rest from the low blow. Good fight and great finish.
The refs fault,he called LSC into the middle of the ring eager to restart the round,LSC should of took the full 5 mins tbh because he was goosed. Not a fan of GD maybe because of Mayweather but boy what a k.o that was.

best fight i've seen since taylor v prograis. absolute quality, and what a finish.

the videos showtime played focusing on the fighters in the build-up really set the scene too. after watching the one about davis growing up in baltimore, i really wanted him to win. then the LSC one showed all about him and his dad and wanted him to succeed. wish our tv channels did something a bit deeper like this.

was also a real touch of class for davis to mention LSCs dad right after the fight, esp as the KO happened right in front of him.

Firstly, Channel 5....

What a good fight and what an incredible finish. That's the stuff of legends and we'll be watching replays of this knockout for years :box:

I'd forgotten how good Santa Cruz was and had him leading until Davis just completely wiped him out with as stunning an uppercut ever thrown in the history of boxing.

The KO would still be impressive against inferior opposition, but to do it in the highest profile fight of your career against such a stellar opponent puts it right up there with the best of them.

What makes it all the more amazing is Davis was looking for the knockout and still got it in spectacular fashion :salut:

OH MY WORD.

Tank has that same type of of menacing aura that reminds me of previous American bad asses like Aaron Pryor and Gerald McClellan.

What an eye poppin’ shot to finish off the very brave Leo Santa Cruz. I was worried seeing the doctor trying to wake him up even after a couple of minutes, and dumb ass move by showtime to repeatedly replay the knockout while he was still unconscious.

That left uppercut missed closely in the first round about three times, and I was seriously worried for the Mexican warrior, but he took on tank in sensational style, you could see the American was surprised by the hell fire leather coming back his way, every time he landed some great shots himself.

But he proved himself winning that with a genuine superstar performance: Tank v Teo is THE fight for the ages.

Great fight, one of the performances of the year by both fighters, and great commentary by the effortless Ray Flores as well.

Not sure if it was Flores or not but when LSC was out cold the camera spans to him on the floor and the commentator says "well.. Santa Cruz.. IS breathing... we hope he's ok. once again, he IS breathing."

Yes you’re right I did notice that jarring comment ( he’s breathing, so that’s a good sign.. :KO: ) it was Flores, but I’ll give him a pass for that, because he was excellent filling a lot of dead air time over the previous two hours.
Such a relief listening to a real professional unobtrusive commentator like that, after the usual brain melting Sky debacle

Agreed, Ray Flores is very good especially in comparison to Sky. Let's hope more quality shows get picked up on free-to-air in the near future, well done to C5.

The disguised switch step and slight lean in to set it up was special.

He has been guilty of blowing hot and cold, hopefully he stays hot now cos he’s a monster on his day.

Just seen it...now thats why I started watching boxing as a little un. Two quality fighters sticking it to each other, none of this holding shite that seems to be accepted as a form of defence these days. Watching all this Hearn dross has really turned me off the sport I love, but this fight took me back to the good days. Thank you GTD and Leo, two fckin warriors.

I’m not 100% on Davis. He’s one of those guys who’s too big at his native weight, and maybe not big enough to compete at his natural weight.

The previous fighter like that was Broner, who looked amazing for a short time then started to fall short. He’s not respected by all of his peers, some of whom call him “fat boy” due to his lack of discipline & weight making issues.

Let’s see what happens when he faces someone his own size. He’s basically a lightweight who just stopped a super bantamweight/featherweight.

LSC is a good little fighter but I never regarded him, or his rivals Mares or Frampton, among the top level at 118, 122 or 126 (they’re no Israel Vazquez or Rafael Marquez).

4th and 5 th rd was outstanding watching them both operate back and fourth, great fight , tank needed that fight took him a couple of rds to get up to speed i think, but he warmed in to it, you know what you get with leo what an outstanding fighter huge heart , it shows you davis needs to fight the best in the divison it keeps him sharp. davis can take shots to body and head and has serious power and heart to he ate big shots aswell, has really good hands very quick to, can counter well to. its funny i think he would become a better fighter if he got rid of floyd think all that money side does nothing for him

I had LSC up but you could see he was having to put a lot in to every round. And that Davis had all the firepower.

Made me appreciate all the more Duran's win over Leonard. Still consider it the greatest win of my lifetime.

Mayweather pissed me off as per usual, getting up to the ring and shouting at Davis whilst his trainer was trying to work in between rounds, any self respecting trainer would've told him to fvck off, that's a right bugbear of mine

When everything goes smoothly, it’s easier to behave with class and humility. See Mayweather v Gatti.

Let’s see how classy Davis is when he’s given real problems in the ring. By someone like Lomachenko, Berchelt, or Teofimo Lopez. And if he doesn’t get the result he wants.

Yeah, Mayweather was looking like he was showing off. He tried that stuff plus he was interacting with the crowd. If your want to take part in this bout, be in the corner with the team.

Davis showed some signs of weakness that I hadn't noticed before. Talking to the ref. He looked perplexed at times.
