my feelings were the same as oto, after the first win i woulda thought helenius would look for something bigger than a rrematch on an undercard
that said
-i dont know how much helly is getting, perhaps it's more than we'd think
-he already beat the guy and has a good chance of repaeting
-if he wins again, he may be a prime contender for a wilder comeback if dw loses again, ruiz is a pbc star now and the ortiz fight is just a rumor so far (so maybe helly could get a ruiz fight), maybe he could get a winnable fight vs fan fave arreola too in a pbc regular show main event too
so who knows, maybe he's getting paid well to face a guy he already ko'd, with good options for him if he wins. that would be a good deal

That's true of course but the psychology doesn't change.
Money doesn't change the psychology in prize fighting?
Of course but I'm talking about the desire to set the record straight when you suffer a defeat.
Again, I'm talking from an advisory stand point.

almost hopeless task for kownacki.
physically the much smaller man, his volume punching lacks power and helenius is simply a better boxer on top of that.

big call saying its a hopeless task due to physical attributes when in the first fight those attributes were the same and hellenius was a 12-1 underdog.. Even in this fight after getting knocked Kownaki is the betting favorite.
I dont rate Kownaki, but he won the first 3 rounds, I also dont rate Helenius either but he did chin him..., this is a coin toss to me, very very far from a hopeless fight.

adam won 1 and 3, helly hurt him in round 2 and won that for me. it;s defo a fight kow can win, but when he was hurt like that and seems to onlly be able to fight face first, it's a big challenge

Heard that Helenius will earn $500.000 for this fight - his career-high purse, I guess.

Good for Helenius. If he can win this and pick up a couple decent wins he might become an easy fight challenger for the heavyweight championship winner of Fury-Wilder-Usyk-Joshua and get a mil.

Good question.
It's been nearly a year.
Another good question is what testing (if any) is he doing?
Sharing a gym and sparring with Big Peddie Miller, showing outstanding stamina for a morbidly obese bloke

Kownacki: I'm Just Gonna Be More Cautious In Helenius Rematch; I've Gotta Move My Head
Adam Kownacki has had more time than he cares to remember to think about his first professional defeat.
Waiting more than 18 months for his shot at redemption has helped Kownacki work on his flaws, though, particularly his obvious defensive deficiencies. The popular Polish heavyweight contender fully understands that he cannot be as reckless in his upcoming rematch with Robert Helenius as he was when they fought in March 2020.
Brooklyn’s Kownacki was in control of a fight FOX televised from Barclays Center before his carelessness cost him. A resilient Helenius sent Kownacki to the canvas twice during the fourth round, which caused referee David Fields to stop a main event that was scheduled for 12 rounds.
Their “immediate” rematch, which has been postponed several times, is scheduled to occur October 9 on the pay-per-view portion of the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Kownacki (20-1, 15 KOs) cannot wait for his opportunity to end what he jokingly calls his “Norwegian Nightmare” by beating the 36-year-old Helenius (30-3, 19 KOs).
“I’m just gonna be more cautious,” Kownacki told BS.com. “I think it’ll be a lot different. I mean, I think I was winning that fight. You know, I won the first three rounds until I got reckless coming in and got caught with a good shot. It’s the heavyweight division and one punch can change everything, so obviously I’ve gotta move my head. And the most important thing I’m working on now is double-jabbing, making sure I’m looking at my opponent, not coming down before I get caught, you know? If I’m able to do the same thing, just not getting caught, I’ll be all right.”
The 32-year-old Kownacki will try to remain more patient when he faces Finland’s Helenius again. He sensed an exhausted Helenius was ready to go in their first fight, which initiated his haste.
The 6-feet-6, 238¾-pound Helenius hurt Kownacki with a left-right combination that dropped Kownacki to one knee 20 seconds into the fourth round. Fields didn’t see the punches Helenius landed and didn’t count that sequence as a knockdown.
A woozy Kownacki couldn’t remain on his feet much longer, though.
Helenius’ right-left combination knocked Kownacki flat on his back a mere 10 seconds after he went to one knee. A courageous Kownacki got right to his feet again, but Helenius unloaded a barrage of flush punches that backed a defenseless Kownacki into the ropes.
Fields then stepped between them and halted the action 1:08 into the fourth round.
“He was huffing and puffing, so I coulda had him,” Kownacki said. “I know [Gerald] Washington knocked him out in the [eighth] round [in July 2019], so I think in the back of my head I wanted to out-perform him. Because I knocked Washington out in the second round, I felt like I had to do better than him. I wanted to do it, but everything happens for a reason.”

"obvious defensive flaws"

If he has worked on that, then he has got this fight..
Be interested to see. I like the all action style of Adam Kownacki, but the whole using his face as a shield really worried me. If he, and his team have managed to get some head movement and a fighting behind a high guard, then Adam will be much better.
I always wanted to see him fight someone like Andy Ruiz or Joseph Parker. Either of those two would make such a high action fight vs Adam.

adam kownacki is 32 or something and has been boxing for about half his life, if he hasnt learned to defend himself by now i doubt he ever will
he will get nailed again, its just a question if he can take it better this time
the ko wasnt an out of nowhere thing either, helenius had hurt him in round 2 as well yet he still waded forward eating punches for dinner

I'm a little more optimistic.
There have been 3 training camps because of delays, and he must have learned something

this is a man who already had thousands of training sessions in his life, he's just the kinda guy who aint got no d, i doubt that will change
he may reverse the result, but i dont think it will be due to significantly improved defensse

Moments before the first counted knockdown there was a missed one, as far as I remember. Kownacki indeed ate some good shots, definitely felt them, but pretended as if he was an iron man and tried to bully Helenius. After the bout Helenius himself admitted, that the fatty had been too opened.
I also highly doubt, that Adam can do it otherwise. He learnt to overwhelm his opponents, not to box them. He doesn't even seem to have a talent for the least. He's just a durable and tough fat guy with a great volume. I don't expect him to improve further significantly or even to win this rematch.
Helenius will ice Kownacki again.

Regardless of how terrible Kow’s defence is I still think he’s better and has the better fighting spirit. I think it will be revenge instead of repeat.

I think its a close fight. I dont think Kow can learn to be defensive though. Think he just needs to rumble fowards with volume. Hele isnt special defensively and isnt particularly dangerous if you stay on his chest.
few People think hele is a sure thing... i mean, other than cracking Kow last time his last good win was chisora 10 years ago... and wasnt that a robbery (cant remember). lost to fornicating washington. Hele isnt top 25 probably. this rematch we might get a better idea of if Kow is decent or bad or somewhere inbetween.
