It's not listed as a forthcoming bout on his [Teo's] record.
Well it’s happening, they just need to announce it. It’s either May 29, or June 6.

Evander Holyfield returning to ring for exhibition fight vs. Kevin McBride on June 5

Another boxing legend is stepping back into the ring.

Evander Holyfield will fight Kevin McBride in an exhibition on June 5, Triller Fight Club's Peter Kahn confirmed to ESPN's Mark Kriegel on Sunday.

Holyfield's return will be on the undercard of Teofimo Lopez's unified lightweight title defense against George Kambosos in Miami that will be streamed on Triller.

Holyfield, 58, joins the trend of retired boxers cashing in on exhibition bouts. The highest-profile exhibition bout featured Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. on a Triller card in November 2020 that reportedly sold 1.6 million pay-per-views.

That sparked the recent craze that includes Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, to name a few. Holyfield joins that mix to face McBride, the last fighter Tyson faced in his professional career.

On March 22, Holyfield released a statement through a publicist that said Holyfield and Tyson were in negotiations for a third fight between the two men. They fought in 1996 and 1997, with the second fight ending in a Tyson disqualification after he bit Holyfield's ear. According to Holyfield, Tyson's camp turned down a $25 million guarantee to face Holyfield in Miami during Memorial Day weekend.

Lopez Sr: We Took A Stand Like Ali Did In Vietnam, Teofimo's Only Fighting On PPV From Now

The father and son tandem of unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. and coach Teofimo Lopez Sr. are intricately mapping out the takeover that they’ve long been plotting and promising.

The next stop in the seize for Lopez Jr. (16-0, 12 KOs) is against George Kambosos Jr. on either May 29 or June 5 on Triller pay per view.

In fact, if you asked Teofimo Sr., his offspring will only be fighting behind a paywall moving forward.

“We’re ain’t fighting with Top Rank no more unless it’s pay-per-view. We are pay-per-view. My son has done things that nobody else has done, and we’re in the position now to create a monster in the boxing industry, and no one has seen that in a long, long time,” he told Fight Hype. “He’s going to make a lot of money with my son. I told Bob Arum, the first day I met him, I said, ‘This is the kid that is going to bring up this company, and all they’ve got to do is believe in him.’ The money will come. We fought Lomachenko for pennies, but we’re not doing that anymore … It’s the takeover, baby. We’re taking over the game of boxing; we’re taking over everybody right now. It’s just a game.”

Lopez’s relationship with Top Rank has soured ever since the promotional company publicly proclaimed they’d not overpay for the IBF mandatory title defense against Kambosos Jr. because it was not deemed a premium event.

Top Rank bid $2,315,000 for the fight, while Matchroom Boxing placed an offer of $3,506,000. Both outfits were trumped by Triller’s whopping winning figure of $6,018,000.

The WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC franchise champion said the disparaging remarks expressed by Arum in recent months are irreparable.

“I know these things play out for some odd reason, and that odd reason is in my favor,” said Lopez Jr. “There’s too much damage that has been done. We look forward to seeing what happens next. The damage has been done; there’s no way of going back,”

Lopez Sr. is not concerned that a potential stalemate or cold war could sideline his son.

“We’ve got mandatory [fights]. So people don’t understand, nobody is sitting us down,” he said. “We already took a low rate for the Lomachenko fight when we took less money to get those belts … I told my son, ‘Once you have those belts, you can do whatever you want,’ and that’s what we’re doing right now. We’re putting the sport of boxing on the big stand because we’re showing these boxers that they’re worth more than the promoters think that they’re worth.

“We took a stand for that. This is big. This is like the Muhammad Ali-era when Muhammad stood for his rights. He didn’t want to go fight in the [Vietnam] war. It’s the same sh-- we’re doing now with my son. He’s standing for the rights for the fighters. They deserve more money, but they’re scared of these promoters because they’re scared of the promoters to sit them down, but we got a contract.”

If he's on about no longer fighting for Top Rank because they "undervalued" him then its absolute bollocks. Triller outbid Top Rank, and they were within their right to as in any purse bid. Not sure how his promoter losing a purse bid is anything like what Ali did?

Hopefully Snr can shut up soon enough otherwise we'll end up disliking Lopez because of his father's mouth.

He compared it to when he said they stood up to the promoters and showing boxing what they’re worth.

TBH, no one knew Triller was gonna bid, and TBh I wish they didn’t now, it’s an absolute overbid, and it’s just making the Lopez’s believe their own hype more.

Saying they had to take a lower cut against Loma, well Teo was the challenger and Loma cut his own purse to give Teo a bigger purse. Not the first time Loma has done that, also, considering there was gonna be no gate money as well.

Some boxers forgot we’re in a pandemic.

I'm not entirely sure how they've stood up to the promoters. Every boxer who isn't one of the top earning guys complains about their pay. They didn't do anything about it. Triller did.

Exactly they didn’t do shit. Triller doubled Top Rank and Matchroom’s bid combined.

They had no control over who would bid.

Not knowing much about Kambosos I figured a walk in the park for Lopez. Kambosos is surprisingly a damn good fighter and a very live underdog. I'm leaning more towards a UD for Teofimo rather than a stoppage like I did initially.

Kambosos: Lopez Has a Suspect Chin, Don't Be Surprised if He Goes Down in Three!

George Kambosos Jr. has warned Teofimo Lopez he sees several flaws he will look to expose when the pair meet and believes victory will secure his legacy as the greatest Australian fighter of all time.

WBA ‘Super’, IBF, WBO and WBC Franchise Lightweight champion, Lopez is set to face mandatory challenger, Kambosos Jr on Triller, reportedly on June 5.

The 23-year-old dethroned Vasiliy Lomachenko in October to become undisputed champion and his father and trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr said in a recent interview with spam.com that he doesn’t see the fight lasting longer than three rounds.

However, Kambosos Jr believes he has the power to secure an early stoppage himself, but is willing to win the fight by any means possible.

“My skills and my defense are very underrated,” Kambosos Jr told Pro Boxing Fans.

“Lopez is going to find out the hard way, they think they’re coming up against one style but I’ve got many styles I adapt, I’m a true champion, I adapt.

“I can’t wait for this fight, I see many holes in this kid’s game and we know what we’ve got to do. I’m coming up with a fantastic game plan with my team. I’ve been putting in work, I’m hitting harder than ever, I’m faster than ever and [I’m going to get the] victory by any means.

“I know this kid’s got a suspect chin. If I can crack him with one shot, the speed and power that I possess and the explosive shots that I pop off, don’t be surprised if he goes down in three [rounds]. They’ve been saying three [rounds], sometimes things go the other way.

"But I'm fully prepared for whatever way this fight goes, we've seen in many of my fights that I love the 12 rounds."

The 27-year-old became IBF mandatory challenger with a split decision win over Lee Selby in London in October.

‘Ferocious’ extended his undefeated streak to 19 consecutive victories and insists defeating Lopez will seal his place as Australia’s best ever fighter.

“We’ve had some great champions in our past,” the Sydney man added.

“But I go down as the greatest ever when I win this fight, but my vision is just becoming the undisputed champion.

“Whatever else comes with it, the greatest in Australia, the pound-for-pound number one Lightweight after this in the world.

“That’s all to come, I’m just focused on one job that’s me and Lopez in that ring.

“I’ve been an underdog my whole career, I love it, I thrive off it.

“I’ve been an underdog many times and I’ve prevailed and I’ve come through, so if he thinks this is a speed bump well guess what, all his tires just got popped, he’s got no tires to move forward on.

“This could be the worst speed bump of your life.”

Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr officially announce June 5 PPV fight

Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr finally officially announced their fight today, which as expected will take place June 5 on a Triller Fight Club pay-per-view. Location was not named, but Miami has been the front-runner in prior reports.

Kambosos (19-0, 10 KO) is looking for what would definitely be a high-end Upset of the Year contender, and wants to establish his legacy as one of the greats in Australian boxing, even the best ever.

“Definitely, this will put me as the greatest ever in Australian boxing,” he said. “My focus has been this kid and taking his belts.”

As for the belts, Lopez only brought his IBF and Ring Magazine straps to the show, though his WBA and WBO titles will also be on the line, as well as the WBC’s “franchise” belt.

“I’m a little upset that he didn’t bring the other belts as well. I’m gonna take ‘em all off you,” Kambosos said, to which Lopez replied, “This is as close as you’re getting to these.”

Lopez (16-0, 12 KO) insists he’s not looking past Kambosos, but he knows this isn’t the fight people wanted to see next, and he has an eye on the bigger names.

“This is someone that’s in front of me, he’s in my way at the moment,” he said. “I gotta move him to the side and move to the guys everyone wants to see me fight next.”

Lopez added, “I’ve been in the big leagues. I’ve been in with guys who have the experience. But I don’t overlook nobody that I face. I’m only getting better. The Lomachenko fight helped me a lot. I have more things in my arsenal that this guy’s not gonna see coming.”

As for Teofimo recently saying he thinks he’ll get a win inside three rounds, Kambosos scoffed. “If they think it’s gonna be three, no problem,” he said. “Prepare for three! But I’m gonna prepare for every single round.”

The fighters then put on a little theatrical show, with Lopez removing his shirt and the two squaring up like they were about to fight, with host Ray Flores stepping between them, an unlikely happening if the two had any real intention of throwing hands. To make it look slightly more real, one (1) other person was also in the middle.

Lopez really fired up at that point.

“I’ll put you on a fuckin’ stretcher. You’re gonna be a fuckin’ example of why I’m gonna put everybody on their ass,” the champ barked. “I’m gonna put my foot on your neck, my dude. You should be thanking me, my guy.”

After things “calmed down” and returned to normal, it was pretty much standard stuff.

“I feel like this is owed to me. I’ve come from the local shows, a handful of people in Sydney, Australia. I’ve gone all around the world, gone into the backyards of former champions. I’m going into the backyard of the undisputed champion right now,” Kambosos said.

“I’m ready, man. I’ve been through it all. I haven’t had no one pushing me. I haven’t had no big platform. I’ve had that underdog mentality a long time, and I’m the underdog again. He is the favorite, but when he’s been the underdog, he’s performed. When he’s been the favorite, he hasn’t performed. The pressure is on him.”

Kambosos ended with the bold and expected prediction: “I’m winning this fight. I’m taking all them belts back to Australia. I’m telling you now, I’m winning this fight.”

“It’s going to be one to watch, and it’s going to be a short night. We’re gonna stay focused training. We can’t overlook Kambosos or anyone,” Lopez said at the end. “You have it, you can lose it. We have a great game plan. We know what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna execute it just like the Lomachenko fight but better. You guys are gonna see a better version of Teofimo Lopez than ever before.”

The event will also feature an exhibition between Evander Holyfield, 58, and Kevin McBride, 47.
