Re: Heavyweight prospect Mitchell Barton jailed
I know 4 people who've killed and 2 who've been killed by single punches. In nearly all cases the situation changed very quickly, the punch being described as spontaneous.

Yes from what I remember the third guy was attacked on the way home from a night out and was just defending himself.Glass Joe wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 19:14end up watching all of it. first 2 are scum. 3rd guy crying same. minimum sentences should be 15 years. good old british justice.Controversial wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 17:54There was a documentary on a few years ago called something like one punch killers, all about people who were convicted after punching someone in a street fight and killing them, it’s more common than you think.rhino222 wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 16:57 Remember what happened to Garry Delaney

Women have literally never 'burned my head' when drink but some people have it in them to punch women, most don'tmickey1975 wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 16:20It’s dodgy because he’s heavy, I know women can burn your head out when going on pissed up. He’s backhanded her. Big mistake.Glass Joe wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 16:02 Woman can be nasty when they have had too much wine on a night out. A single punch and got out of the situation, probably hoping it blow over. Who knows if she was lying about her double vision etc a decent lawyer probably would have got him off. He will be out in the summer. he may return, boxers like Martin Murray came back from doing time.

The article said she pushed him twice. You changed this to "Then attacked him".mickey1975 wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 14:09I read the article, same as you.

i haven't , but if the point is self defense/getting her off him as someone suggested and dude is gonna respond any way, why not use a slap then instead of an open fist
this dude using a punch on her is like using a tank to kill an ant, surely slapping her would get across any point/purpose that punching her would do, without doing nearly so much damage, plus its not like its tough to just leave your hand open
that's where the push kick comes into it too, dudes should train that instead of punches for the pub. although as i said before, really it would be best if they settle these issues with dance offs

Surely a headlock / sleeper hold would have been better.

Young guy - full of adrenaline and beer, gets screamed at and pushed by some spouty woman .. gives her a slap .. with a closed hand as he is naturally trained to do. Her cheekbone and eye socked are like chicken bones to the blow!
I think we can all understand how this could quite easily happen and have some sympathy for a moment of bad decision making - although if it was our daughter or sister taking the punch you will not.
I too know of two people hit by single punches and dying as a result; both times they were hit whilst not expecting it - a Judas punch - which very likely contributed to the punches fatal effect of having them go head first onto the pavement.
Luckily this woman will make a full recovery, and be wiser as a result to not poke tigers from inside the cage. And hopefully Mitchell Barton can also make a full recovery and resume his boxing career, and also be wiser as a result.

Perhaps this woman's family could cut a deal with Mitchel. After he serves his time for this crime, he could then be allowed to fight again after going thru some kind of anger management program, and every paycheck he earns, at least 25% of it will go to this woman. I'm saying 25% of his earnings for the rest of his career in boxing, and perhaps at least 10% of his earnings outside the sport of boxing for the rest of his life as well. But who knows, he might get a sentence of 15 to 20 years. After all, he could have killed her with his blow. He's lucky she survived, actually.

The same way they lap up “he’s had problems with addiction, but has undertaken counselling to overcome that” or he’s worked hard to break his cycle of reoffending” (after having 40 convictions for 75 offences).

I have perfected the one inch punch. I find it more handy than the push kick, especially in confined spaces.
Whether I`d use it on on a woman, even if she was attacking me, is up for debate. There is no doubt that the force of that one inch punch would have SERIOUS consequences for her. Hospital food for a week at least, perhaps a month.
Generally speaking if some bird punches a bloke in the mush, then really she should expect one back.

I find the d.d.t move works best on drunk women.
I'm talking about the one made famous by jake the snake roberts of course.
Put your hands up by their face as though acting like you don't want any trouble and then BOSH.
Get one of your friends to count to 3 just before you get up for some added purchase on the move.

Yep. The third case was a young student who was started on by a blokes the end of a night out. The student subdued the bloke and got him on the floor (without hitting him, I might add) and then backed away with his hands up. A mate of the first thug then attacked the student, who bobbed and weaved, avoiding all the shots. He then threw one punch in response which sparked the second thug. The student then walked off, flagged down a police car and handed himself in. The whole incident was recorded on the thugs’ friends mobile phones. It went to court but I think the CPS said there were no grounds to prosecute as it was clearly done in self defence.Controversial wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 19:23Yes from what I remember the third guy was attacked on the way home from a night out and was just defending himself.Glass Joe wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 19:14end up watching all of it. first 2 are scum. 3rd guy crying same. minimum sentences should be 15 years. good old british justice.Controversial wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 17:54
There was a documentary on a few years ago called something like one punch killers, all about people who were convicted after punching someone in a street fight and killing them, it’s more common than you think.

The student was racked with guilt though and subsequently left the country to start afresh.
