Born and raised in Ughelli Delta State, Nigeria, Efe Ajagba began boxing in 2011 at the age of seventeen and quickly discovered his craft on this way to a 41-2 (30 KOs) amateur record.
How far had Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua's career progressed a decade after they took up the sport of boxing in 2005 and 2007, respectively?
And also, if Efe Ajagba is just a young raw novice learning his trade, then why has the calibre of his opposition gradually declined over the last four or five bouts?
Efe Ajagba’s next opponent is worse than anyone he’s fought over the last couple of years, because Howard is on the cusp of turning 41 years of age, is also a small cruiserweight (borderline 175lb-er) that’s suffered three KO losses during the five bouts he’s competed in within the last 3½ years.
Let's not forget that Efe Ajagba has been competing in the pro ranks for almost four years, but you could easily argue that he's still mixing with the same calibre of opposition he was matched against in 2018.
Apart from Filip Hrgovic, I can't think of any active heavily-hyped prospects competing as a pro since 2017 (or earlier) that are still engaging in outrageously horrendous mismatches.
The Nigerian's career is progressing at a speed that's slower than an iceberg!
What is your source?
I found a different amateur record

The same spiel was widely and repeatedly conveyed by his promoter during 2017.
Google the numbers I quoted and you’ll find loads of sources confirming the same info.

It’s a spam link.
No, it’s dodgy BoxRec auto-text substitution (i.e. Boxing-Scene or Frâñk Wârrëñ).
Paste the following text (as-is) into Google to review Ringstar’s promotional spiel about Ajagba:

I'm hoping that Brian Howard withdraws as well, to prevent fight fans from witnessing another needlessly horrendous mismatch, resulting in Ajagba forced to face the unbeaten Trey Lippe instead.
Both fighters are already appearing on the same card, have similar records and Trey Lippe doesn't currently have an opponent.
The Nigerian would be the heavy betting favourite over Lippe, but even so, a victory for Ajagba would restore his credibility and also reignite interest from fight fans.
He needs to start taking risks with his career to avoid being considered as the second coming of Christopher Lovejoy.

Efe Looks very bored !!! He wants go back to Nigeria
Well here are 5 boxers who your hero couldnt live with :
AJ
Fury
Whyte
Joyce
Usyk
even Chisora would send him packing ..
Wilder
Ruiz
Do I really have to go on ...
You seem regard cockroach Whyte and power puff Usyk very highly
DW may be a bit of twat but he would KO Ajagbe with ease .
Usyk is way to skilled for Ajagbe IMHO .
Maybe others will have a different opinion , the big problem with your boy is simply that he keeps fighting low level opposition time and again so nobody can see any improvements to his game .

he is not a full sized heavy... he is a cruiser sized heavy. are you really pre-engineering an excuse in case efe loses... dont worry he is up against a very average cruiser, efe should be fine.

is there anybody who you think isnt juicing !
Brian Howard was 175Lbs in june 2018 ... There is no way at his age, can put on 43 LBS of muscle so fast.
He is added another 8lbs just after Frank Schanz fight only.
I think team Ajagba Don't care, because still it makes no difference for fight Outcome

He hasnt packed on 43 lbs of mucel. He would of been 190s and very very lean and on a heavily restricted diet then cut some water to 175. When you lift those restrictions your body can pack on weight pretty quick. but yea more likely packed on 15lb of water in a day then, 10 lb of fat and 15 lb of mucel in 3 years, doable.
(that said he is probably juicing, because after all he is a pro boxer and holy fornicate a lot of them are on the gear.)

I don't know why people are criticizing a slower approach right now. The covid crap took the sport down several pegs and it is not back up yet. The title picture is not wide open but is pretty well all doors shut. Anybody with a good HW now should be preserving the 0 and waiting for better days to make a push.
If there were 4 belt holders without guys tied up with defenses and having multiple fight aspirations for the titles then you go for it now with Efe. Big fights with big rewards.....and paying crowds too.
Right now there is not much point in taking a big fight. Stay undefeated and in range to win 1 or 2 bigger fights when the doors open back up again later. Hopefully the crowds and money is back then too.
