if torrez wins gold, beating the guy who brutally ktfo him and hasnt lost in 4 years in the final, that would be like a movie type of tournament for him

classic underdog beating the big mean scary guy who already iced his ass. courage and determination.

you can do it richie, dont go in there scared :yay:

Torrez has precisely no chance of getting a Gold for USA. The Former Soviet or Uzbek he is fighting already brutally KTFO Torrez like 1 year ago.

Torrez winning the Gold for USA VS Jalolov has about as much chance happening as Neil Armstrong walking on the Sun. Almost a literal impossibility.

That’s very dramatic for a fight that’s probably an 80-20…

I feel like the decisions to let pros in and remove headgear has yielded excellent results.

Also the round scoring instead of punch counting.

if torrez does my hat is f@cking off to the dude, it takes some kind of serious mental strength and courage to come back , get to the finals as underdog, and beat the guy absolutely brutally smashed you in 1 round the preivous time

jalolov hasnt lost in almost 5 years

Agree, these Olympics have had very decent boxing.
The instant scoring really sparks up the fighters if they are marked down. Also the fighters are sitting down on their punches more, and power has affected more outcomes than usual.
I've been recording every session and watching maybe 80% of the fights.

Torrez lost bad last time, but big difference between being 20 and 22.

Torrez will most likely turn pro and not look back but with the olympics only 3 years away he must be tempted to fight 3 pro fights a year around amaturr tournaments and box in the Paris olympics.

im not sure if his boxrec am record is complete post-jalolov loss, but if it is then he's only fought 6 bouts in that time :oo

going into the first jalolov fight, he'd still already had a nice international streak, winning multiple tournaments and then making the worlds quarter finals. he's always been a handy fighter but people mostly remember the brutal loss

being 5 inches shorter and wading in, i think he is a bit made for jalolov to look good against, but we will see!

Jalolov look bad for Torrez not only on paper, but stylistically. Jalolov is a huge guy, who can box, move and bang. Torrez is a small guy, who comes forward and that's it. Torrez can bang and he's fast enough, but what will he do, if his trademark tactics doesn't work?

This Yafai is my favourite :TU:
He ground out two wins with mostly plain old graft.

Yafai lost the 2nd and the 3rd rounds clearly. The Kazakh was robbed.

ragan loses to the russian........clear loss but the judges obsession with splits continues

up to torrez or davis for us gold now. davis seems the best bet and has been on fire every match.

it's been really weird.......even fights that are one sided hammerings, much worse than that, there's continually been a judge to score it for someone who clearly got whooped

It looks especially surreal with Khyzhniak. The Ukrainian Tank was overwhelming everybody, like he has been always doing, and he got some splits.
