DAZN looks like it may die very quickly; where will Eddie go to then? would SKY have him back??
It wont die anytime in near future outside UK/Ire/USA and boxing its doing well with football rights.

Len Blavatnik owns it, Britains richest man.

I didnt know who owned DAZN.
But I guess these money types are pretty good at turning off a dripping tap.

There are a few billionaires happy to waste money on vanity projects like cycling teams or football clubs, although I not too sure owning a sports streaming channel is so appealing.

You don't become Britain's richest man by throwing money down the drain

You no longer need a business to be profitable to have a business of value. It’s a weird dynamic and it’s something that’s becoming more and more common.

DAZN would have planned to make substantial losses and if they were worried about how boxing had performed in the US then they wouldn’t have launched with boxing in the U.K. They’re a big brand in certain countries because of the sports they have. They’re not in the U.K. but I’m sure they have things in the pipeline to change that.

Forgive my ignorance but how does it work getting a subscription and watching through your tv? Do you need the app?
I play it on my IPad and airdrop it to the tv… works great… odd bit of loss of ficus for a few seconds occasionally but then it corrects back to HD quality.
:TU: cheers pal. I’m gonna subscribe for a month or 2 see how it goes. This Saturdays card isn’t actually too bad compared to recent tripe.

You register the subscription via the website.

Then depending on what you have.

Smart tv, go to the App Store, or if you have a fire stick, you download the app on that.

Then open the app and log in to your account and your good to go.

"Massive numbers on subscribers"....."Well ahead of where we expect to be"

The only actual detail was that there were twice as many people viewing the Fight Camp shows on DAZN as the last Sky show (Lewis Ritson in Newcastle). And that viewer number will of course be a worldwide viewer number not a UK number.

Let's be straight, if the news on viewers (at the 1.99 price point...) was good, they would a) Release some form of number (i.e. the 1 million viewer numbers that DAZN likes to use occasionally), or b) compare it to last year's Fight Camp or any other popular Sky boxing event.

The latest Eddie Hearn interview on IFL is an extraordinary example of smoke and mirrors from start to end.

Still looking forward to the Leeds and Liverpool cards however :-)

He’s a salesman so I’d expect nothing less.

The fighters that have been signed to Boxxer/Sky will have been given the smoke and mirrors the other way. I listened to a Richard Riakporhe interview and he said that if Sky has a football match on a Saturday evening then it will get 2m viewers so he could have a 1m viewers watching his fight afterwards. Whilst what he’s saying isn’t a lie, it isn’t achievable given the viewing figures boxing had/has on Sky so he’s clearly been fed some rubbish.

Wouldn't be surprised if Laura Woods starts to present on a regular basis on DAZN, proven sports presenter and a lot more competent at that role I'd say.

Rumours doing the rounds that DAZN in the process of buying BT Sport and it could be announced soon.

That would certainly shake things up if true.

I didn't think BT sports had any sort of real intrinsic value?

BT buy in the rights to content and just broadcast it.

I can see DAZN being £50 a month once its added rugby and all the other rubbish that a lot of fight fans aren't really interested in.

This was my beef with Sky, you had to pay a huge chunk per annum and that money didn't really go into boxing, it went into lots of other sports. It didn't allow you to buy specific sports (other than F1 racing i think it was.)

Hopefully if they acquire other sports they will sit in their own apps.

Something Hearn didn't deny in his interview with ifl was that Joshua could indeed stay with SKY on their PPV platform but interestingly he also didn't dismiss him coming over to dazn on a PPV set up

I'm guessing that's the only possible way they can fund Joshua on Dazn.

He has also said PPV isn't such a bad model if it is priced right lol - I think we know where all of this is heading

They won't do that. They are the same as Sky just the only rights in the UK they have is boxing. If they get PL football they'll put the price up to £30 a month and if you just want boxing you'll have to lump it.

Hmm..

I’m wondering if it’ll be, you can watch AJ on the usual DAZN monthly sub, or alter nicely, as a one off, buy a £20 PPV and not sub.

What did they in US, for Canelo was buy a PPV and get 3 months DAZN.

I have a feeling, AJ will remain promoted by Hearn, but remain a network free agent.

Not being tied down to a network.

He’s a big name and doesn’t need that.

This is exactly it. Take October for example, I'd have expected Smith v Fowler to be a normal Sky Sports show.

I used to get this boxing as part of Sky. My Sky bill hasn't gone down since Matchroom left but I'm not cancelling as I watch the football/cricket.

DAZN is now £8 per month and I get one show I would have had included in what I was paying.

I'd happily pay for DAZN (something I didn't have to) if I was getting something I didn't get previously (more shows, shows that would have been PPV) - but I just feel I'm getting my pocket picked for more for the same as I used to get.

If they are going to price it as the same amount as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc they need more content. Most of the archive fights they have on there are on YouTube anyway and I've never been in to watching boxing where I know the result.

I don't think 2/3 UK shows per month (I'd take York Hall/leisure centres) is too much to ask.
it needs something like bunce's boxing hour, but not sure he could do it now because of the bbc podcasts. at the moment it's sporadic live fights and some really poor extra american content

You should watch the Warrington show later - some really well matched fights.
