Re: BBBoC Overturning a decision? (Is it possible)

by punchers chance
The referee has the discretion to deduct a point or points for hitting an opponent when he's down. He can also disqualify the offender.
That gives the referee quite a bit of leeway and I bet the board will close ranks & decide Steve Gray acted fairly.

Personally I thought it was serious enough to disqualify Sheeraz because he struck Skeete more than once after he was down and the last punch landed flush.
I hope the board have the courage to do the right thing & say the referee got it wrong and change it to a no-contest.

Just heard Robert Smith on Talksport and, answering a question, he said the result could not have been changed on the night. It's a shame that nobody brought up the Edwards-Martinez fight.

Although that was under the BBBofC,

It was the WBC who overturned it in the ring wasn't it?

Yes.

It was their title on the line, so they intervened.

Sulaiman marched into the ring like Vince McMahon to personally overturn the referees decision, it was utterly corrupt & scandalous, the referees ruling should've stood.

You can't call a DQ or a NC every time there is a foul. The ref handled this one perfectly.
The ref was a shambles.
Take a look in the mirror.

People get blinded about the fighters they like. Skeete was gassed due to the fact he was on his bike the entire fight and the knock downs came when his feet slowed. Writing was on the wall, his fans should accept he was getting stopped regardless of couple of illegal digs or not.
A low quality comment from you. If you cant see the truth of what happened, you're not really a boxing fan in my opinion.

What sort of boxing fan wants to cry and moan about fouls? It's what separates boxing from football. I was watching united last week and Luke Shaw got subbed off because he bumped into the goal post

Boards calling steve gray (the ref) in for a meeting. seems like they have some ambition to have a bit of justice. But the ref will try justify his mistake, and then the board will probably back there guy...

Steve's was bad but pales when compared to Marcus McDonnell's mugging of Campbell Hatton's opponent.

Hope Skeete tackles him in the rematch and hits him with some UFC style ground and pound. Then tries to justify it with saying BBBoC said ground strikes were legal, drops the mike and retires....

At least Bricktop has acted quickly and offered a rematch with a date as per the talksport interview.
