Ricky insists that the comeback fight against Barrera will be a one-off, previously stating: “I am doing this for fans who struggled being locked up with Covid. I got a call and was asked if I would come back to do this for the fans who have been locked up for ages after Covid.

“Covid has been tough for me, for everyone. I want to inspire people who have had mental health problems, too. They can look at me and say ‘He struggled and now look at where he is’ so they can do it too.”

Suppose if you want to pay for it then fair enough , Only time i would watch him is if my mate rang me up and said , Heh , Ricky Hattons coming down the gym next monday for a move around with a couple of my lads , come on down and watch the sparring .
Its horses for courses ,, lad who i trained from being 13 till the pro's , his dad is a boxing fan or at least he was when his lads were boxing and he always chased these things where name boxers were he' would pay to go listen to them at dinners ect , usually come back with winning the auction of a signed pic , pair of gloves or something , spending money he really did'nt earn and could'nt afford .

Always got his pic took with them , arms round each other fists up sort of thing ,, they get prize spot blew up on his bar , and he tells storys when people are around of them has if they were his best mates. I sit there listening ,to his stories shaking my head and think is it sad or funny

Yep never really understood the appeal of those type events - and seeing pics of people clenching a first whilst stood by a famous boxer is the worse .. it like something your Gran would do

The weight Hatton has shifted in a short time is incredible though

Reminds me of a chippy in York I used to go to with a whole wall of photos of boxers, sometimes with the owner. The highlight was a photo of him grinning broadly while shaking hands with Lennox Lewis, who is looking the other way having a conversation with someone out of shot
