They won't let Benn anywhere near this guy.
Ava destroys all but Crawford right now. None of the belt holders want any part of him. He has unwittingly made the EBU Euro belts one of the most prestigious on the planet
Are you being serious with this Kiwi?!? I usually fully agree with you which has got me concerned! I like Avanesyan as a fighter as he really brings it but wiping out Liam Taylor and Oskari Metz doesn’t prove anything. He had good wins against Lejarraga and Kelly but I think we’d all agree that Lejarraga is a little limited whilst Kelly had a lot of promise but flattered to deceive at times. Not one of those 4 fighters has a world class win behind them.
The 2 guys he’s fought that were genuinely top 10 in the world when he fought them were Peterso, who outboxed him, and Kava who broke him up with the jab and his hen stopped him on his feet.
I’m not saying Ava is an average fighter, far from it, but I think the bulk of the world top 10 rates welterweights would beat him.
Semi serious mate

Ava has improved, and somewhere along the way picked up some power. Maybe I'm over sold on him?
I do realistically see him as top 5. The guy is a bit of a beast.
As for Spence, we are only guessing as to where he is now. We will soon know, and have a better idea where he is in the mix. A lot has happened in his life the last two years.
I agree re: Spence - not sure how good he is now. I have real difficulty putting Avanesyan in the top 5 though. Off the top of my head I’d pick the following to beat him…
Spence
Crawford
Thurman
Ortiz
Ennis
Danny Garcia
Ugas
Stanionis
Kavaliauskas (to repeat the win)
After that I think there’s another group with the likes of Conor Benn, Butaev, Ramos, Rocha, Ellis that I’d put Avanesyan in with where I think the results would be 50/50.
I’m not saying I don’t like or rate Avanesyan. He’s an entertaining and strong fighter but his last 2 wins have been against guys who wouldn’t be rated in the top 5-6 in the UK for me.

He wasn’t the floater. It was intentional to put him on last.
Ah ryt. Someone above said he was a floater..
Strange.. Ava all over the poster..
He needs to look a bit crap his next fight.. lure the Benn fight. Not that it’d happen.

Mate, he just beat Oskari Metz.
Ozkari Metz.
Metz didn't look like the second coming of Monzon in the technical department. In fact he looked pretty bad in other fights.

Basicly Hearn has got Benn who up to now going by his experience and his fights is very limited , especielly when you think of him alongside the real good fella's in his division ,,, However Hearn has built him up to be a household name by smart matchmaking and punping the dollars into him and his opponents , paying the money out to get over the hill way past it big names .
Warren and Neil have a very good fighter with massive potential , and have built him up by feeding him lower no name opposition on te cheap , and just calling out Benn ,, if it were not for Benn being handy to call out , no one would of heard or cared about David
David wants to have a serious word with his manager and promoter and tell them to get him some big name fights

I don't get the obsession with chasing Benn either. Ava is very good and would beat most welterweights who don't have a title so why doesn't he fight the boxers above him in the rankings instead of looking at a boxer below him. It's pretty embarrassing really, as was the show at the weekend.

I agree with you. It’s the previous line of genuine European title level opposition that he’s not just beaten but handed pastings to, that has me wanting to see him fight for and defend a World title and get his shot vs the big boys.

for me ava is like sergio garcia, handily winning at euro level but losing clearly to anyone in the world top 10
