All i can say is, I'm very grateful for Boxing News doing what it does.

He could have written that copy from his spare bedroom, so why does he even need to be there ?
Seeing Danny Vaughn posing and smiling with the likes of Liam Byrne, who beat a man half to death for no reason, then tried to hire the INLA to murder his girlfriend after she refused his attempts to bribe her off of testifying, raises bloody questions alright!!high tower 1 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 17:23 Questions need to be asked. Any chance you could summarize it? Very few are going to watch a 2 hour video. You could just write 2 or 3 sentences.mickey1975 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2022, 16:46 Abrams did a good Dixons life stories where he addressed all the above.

Can't we walk and chew gum at the same time?? These issues all need addressed, but at least with developments like the net closing on Cancer K they might be able to have a boxing event down south again without fear of automatic gunfire and murders at the weigh inshigh tower 1 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 02:34They had a good run. Boxing events should not have been outlawed in the Republic for years. The police should be capable of policing a boxing event. Katie Taylor could sell out Croke Park and have 80k Irish people and a great St. Patricks day for the Irish. You can only blame the police for not having the ability to police events. Armed guards stationed near the arena and a garda presence inside would do it. The blame purely goes on the police in Ireland in my opinion.GreenLightning wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 03:41Can't we walk and chew gum at the same time?? As you mentioned Katie Taylor, does she have any connections to people who could cause a problem?
I don't think anything wrong with policing a boxing event at all. The police took the easy way out in my opinion. Maybe it was the threat of something happening to members of the public but you can't hold a sport to a standstill in a country. It wouldn't happen in anywhere else. Can you imagine all boxing events in the UK being banned for 6 years now? No shows at all in that time?GreenLightning wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 13:55

How do you think it's going to look historically when Irish people in 50 or 100+ years look back and see the sport was outlawed for years and Katie Taylor, who will probably still be remembered as the best Irish female boxer then, never fought in Ireland. I don't think the police will get away with saying it was out of their hands. People will say they should have stood up and secured the events and not allowed boxing to be outlawed. Like I said, it wouldn't happen in any other country. How long are they going to outlaw the sport? I would think 6 years is more than enough. The Irish public are paying taxes. They have a right to boxing events. If this was happening in the UK, I think Wazza would have taken the government to courtGreenLightning wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 21:08Oh hang on I thought you were saying like the whole feud is purely the polices fault lolTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 20:46I don't think anything wrong with policing a boxing event at all. I don't know it's a tough one, if there is a danger at the event of someone involved in it being shot dead, then that's probably not an event worth putting on because who the hell is behind it
They could have just tried to ban Kinahan affiliates , but at one point that was like 80 percent of the bloody boxing business in Ireland because he',d gotten his tentacles inso deep into to it by then, and they can just use front names , or fighters just deny connections like they do everywhere else
Yeah but they'll just say not enough resources to be standing around guarding events, in fact, I think I read today there's "staff shortage" in the armed response units. Is that because it's been relatively quiet the last few years and they haven't been needed as much? fornicate knowsTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 21:31How do you think it's going to look historically when Irish people in 50 or 100+ years look back and see the sport was outlawed for years and Katie Taylor, who will probably still be remembered as the best Irish female boxer then, never fought in Ireland. 100% it's a thankless job 24/7 365 days of the year. Does not even equate to minimum wage when you add up the hours. Not to mention the politics and threats of legal action. Boxing is the greatest sport in the world and there some really good people involved but unfortunately there are more two faced arse wipes. Having said that it was a great experience.polecateddy wrote: ↑25 Apr 2022, 13:50 Boxing journalists in the UK don’t just seem to be a dying breed, more near extinct! Boxing Monthly was excellent but now is long gone, and you’d have to wonder how long the paper edition of Boxing News will last. Incredibly hard work - I think Claude used to say in was an all-consuming lifestyle keeping the paper on schedule. No wonder he retired in the end. You’d think the promoter would be beyond silly stunts like this by now.
Are you kidding, what's it got to do with the police?
