Hearn's current line is a smug 'everyone else is losing money and we're making it' which is of course a 180 from his initial DAZN approach of 'we've got so much money, we'll take over'.

Don't trust a word he says (like most in Boxing.....). Someone suggested that AJ/Ruiz 2 did 1.4 million and he pulled it down to 1 million. But he's on record as saying it broke the SKy PPV record and possibly did more than 1.2 million.

Then he said AJ/Usyk 1 did 700,000 buys after predicting the week of the fight it would do 1.2 million.

Not sure Sky will make money out of this, apparently paid £25M for the UK rights, and according to Wikipedia the first bout did 1.2M buys (think that may be a high guesstimate).

If they did the same numbers at £25 a pop, that's £30M in revenue - not much headroom once you take into account the production costs etc..

Still, I'm happy it's on Sky, at least they make an effort with the production values and promotion, DAZN is just awful..

The ad revenue won’t be loads (may get around £1m tops) as ad rates are coming down a fair bit as companies are reducing discretionary spend.

I pick and choose what to believe from Eddie. The stuff where he’s promoting (this Chisora show doing 7,000 - I’m expecting 5,000) I take with a pinch of salt but he’s probably being truthful re: the 700k buys. He’s got no reason to down play it as it doesn’t reflect well on AJ/him. I genuinely think PPV is really tough at the moment due to the cost of living and ease of streams. Hence why Frank didn’t get his near 2m buys he thought he would for Fury/Whyte and Khan/Brook only (I still think it’s a good result) doing a bit over 500k. Re: AJ/Ruiz 2 being a record, I think that may be PPV revenue and not buys as it was the first £25 PPV. Who knows though as 1m buys at £25 doesn’t get close to the supposed 1.6m buys at £20 for Klitschko/AJ.

will be interesting to see if/how this affects the quality of the under card

As nearly everyone has said, just a strange deal, timing and everything, DAZN gambling massively, Usyk wins in style, Joshua's career could go down like a knackered lift, as big as the Fury and Wilder fights still are, I'm not confident either come off within Joshua's next 3 fights win or lose against Usyk

So from that I would surmise it is on in all their markets.

Hearn said agreement in place for it to be a Matchroom undercard.
I can’t see him doing the event any favours.

If that’s already been announced then it’ll be a different deal to the £28m one I think.

I have to say its very weird that DAZN have out bid sky and commited enough money to secure AJ in a long term deal. Yet Dazn havent commited enough money to outbid sky and secure the next AJ fight.

yup they arnt in it for profit, just look at the Golf they must be losing a fortune on it.
