Good shot. Hope Francis doesn't get in much trouble about it. The dude definitely asked for it.

It's a myth that you can't protect yourself and others in this country anymore, you can. In this circumstance Julius was self-controlled and he did act reasonably. I've seen these go to court but never somebody getting done for it in these exact circumstances. The video will help his defence.
Still a grey area really, what if the guy cracked his skull off the pavement and died or was left with brain damage ? That’s more common than you think. He’d be doing time for that.
no he wouldn't. not if he can prove it was his honest held belief that he was under threat of an immediate violent assault. And this video leaves no doubt whatsoever. The guy was aggressive, lashing out, and refused any attempt at pacification. The man entered his personal space aggressively with his hands up, verbally shouting and displaying extremely heightened behaviour. Any consideration of "restraining" the guy is null and void at that point.
Bingo

Does anyone doubt that fella would have ended up hitting- and possibly hurting- someone, if Julius hadn’t sparked him?

I don't think so, he would have done it in the closed area. I personally think he was just all mouth.

All the people saying 'He could've hit his head on the pavement and died' etc etc is irrelevant because he didn't.
It's a grey area because people are saying it's self defence so he will be ok. Would he still be ok if the bloke died?
He would be okay with the law but it might have impacted his mental health. I know lads that have one punched people to death and brushed it off and blokes who've done it and it's messed them up. None of them went to prison (including a former British champion - before he was a British champion).

I'm starting to sound like his defence lawyer here :OhYes: :OhYes: All I saw was him pretending to throw one. He just looked like a pissed up loud mouth,

I need to see the body cam footage inside and outside.

Glass Joe wrote: 14 Jun 2022, 12:23 Such a fine line with the self defence. It will probably come down to what the powers to be are thinking. :maybe: :maybe:
Imagine you were on a jury.

1. Did Julius genuinely believe it was necessary to act in self-defence of himself, others, or property? You'd have to ask Julius but it certainly looked like it to me and I'd believe him if I was on a jury, would you?

If yes...

2. Did he use a reasonable level of force, bearing in mind that even with his experience he may well have been unable to weigh to a nicety the exact measure of any necessary action?

Again, I would argue absolutely he did. He defended himself but it certainly wasn't excessive. He didn't follow up with a stamp, for example. The whole situation died down quickly, the lad's mates who were also being aggressive stopped in their tracks too.

He was probably on a combination of coke n Booze, he might not of hit those guys but before the night was over he would have definitely hit someone, more than likely some student or some bloke who couldnt look after himself. He's got to be proper embarrassed now millions of people have seen this, hopefully he'll learn from it. Character building

Exactly. It wouldn’t be within the law to pre-emptively twat this kid on the grounds he was bound to get brave and or lucky enough to hurt someone at some point, therefore anyone at any point beforehand sparking him is doing the rest of society a favour, however it’s unquestionably ‘right’.

Laughable if this makes it into a courtroom

That man obviously fancied himself as some sort of street thug, putting himself about in a certain way

If he points the finger and starts pressing charges then that's his street cred gone aswell as his jaw

Funnily enough though its the ones who bring it on themselves who start squealing when they get hurt a majority of the time

Fingers crossed he doesn't get into trouble and hopefully the bloke he hit and his mates will think twice before acting like dicks again. No doubt someone will name and shame him

Who was the guy he sparked in a round? I remember watching a midweek card that he was late for. He’d gone the wrong way round the m25 so was two hours late. He rushed into the ring and sparked him quick style.

Exactly who doesn't have a zero knives policy?

Great punch by Francis...probably a bit too much tho as the arsehole seemed to be leaving but he had been violent.
