There is so much inherent sexism on this thread. It's depressing.

I won't pull out specific posts but comments such as:

1. I only watch women's boxing to see if they are fit (there are porn sites for that, or you could just be functional enough to have a wife/partner that you find attractive)

2. I never watch women's boxing (but you still bother to post on a Forum about it.....)

3. They are rubbish compared to men's boxing (so by definition should women not play sport then?)

I've no idea whether Eddie's idea of an all female card will work from a financial perspective, but that's his choice as the payer of the costs to decide. Perhaps it will be a one off and there will be curtains across ranks of seats, perhaps it will be full due to giveaway/low priced tickets. Either way, it's up to the person with the financial accountability to make that decision.

It's not boxing, but there were 75.000 people watching a football match at Old Trafford a couple of days ago. No one was off their tits on either booze of coke (there were no arrests) and everyone seemed to have had a great time.

I won't re-edit my post because the principle remains the same. Someone has chosen a business decision to do this, whether it's Eddie, Frank, Oscar, Bob, Don etc, it's a business decision for them.

its a good idea, iam all for womans boxing huge taylor fan she in my eyes is national hero for ireland, but it is a different sport and it causes unnecessary resentment to there sport when they put it with the mens card, i dont mine the odd big fight here or there, its the same as ufc i wouldnt want a ufc fight in the middle of a boxing card i know they have done it before i never bothered to watch it , same as amateur boxing it is not pro mens boxing its a different sport deserves it own card

yeah there is some of that, but on the whole the sport is different, you wont find a bigger fan of katie taylor than me and i have a lot of time for women's boxing there boxing has come on leaps and bounds no doubt but it is a different sport to mens ,if i was a promoter i would stick the women's fights on first in the arena and if there is a huge fight now and again put it amongst the men , i personally encouraged my niece from a young age when she was fighting in karate and she goes to mens football hardest london team in the championship , what's the point of a football match that no one cares about, football can be very boring if you dont follow a team ,

By and large, women's boxing is wank. Take the middleweight--Shields and Marshall's division. The fourth world ranked fighter is 9-8-3.

I am interested in seeing Shields get knocked out because she's the most obnoxious person in boxing today.

Say for example on soccer Saturday where there are 3 live games, if you have the time you will happily watch all 3.

Imagine now, to save money they put on a non league game in between 2 premiership ones, a lot of people wouldn't watch the middle game and would certainly complain about the bad quality.

This has nothing to do with gender, it's all about the quality.

Now imagine one Saturday they don't show any premiership games and instead show 3 non league games, people would rightly be annoyed and they would switch off.

Nobody complains about women's fights when the quality is there.

After all the world titles and Olympic medals she’s won, she has never made huge money, is not with a big promoter and couldn’t draw flies in the US. That’s why the fight is in the UK.

There’s no money or market for it in the States. Nobody cares and it hurts.

Yeah I suppose I was trying to be nice but that's the harsh reality. Underpaid in relation to her achievements. But maybe she values them more than the buying market does.

There’s money to be made in womens boxing in the US. Mayer said her new deal with Top Rank/ESPN was big money and both Taylor and Serrano earned $1m+ for their last fight.

Pro boxers are paid in relation to their commercial worth and not in relation to their ability and that’s something that Claressa seems to struggle with. She tries to talk like Floyd but in reality Floyd was built great. He fought regularly on big networks, beat lots of recognisable fighters and was a pretty entertaining fighter on the way up to welterweight.

Claressa should have a load of big time sponsors but I always suspect people struggle to warm to her.

They need 3 minute rounds to enable them to get more chance of a stoppage win .. even if the stoppage is a result of fatigue is still better than 10 rnds of the exact same thing rnd after rnd.

As others here have said, the pitter-patter punches are a yawn .. especially added to the fact their actual quality is still so bad compared to mens boxing.
