He’s a tidy boxer but doesn’t bring much on top of that. Isn’t a big talker, doesn’t have much power and isn’t particularly exciting.

Eddie offered him a slot on the GGG/Canelo card against the guy who’s fighting Rosado. Richards turned it down as he was annoyed about being out of the ring so long and thought the fight was a step down for him.

That's the guy Gongorra beat for the ibo if memory serves. He looked quite dangerous until he was caught. Maybe Lerrone didn't want it i dunno. He should have taken it. It's a big event and a platform.

Boxers hardly wanna stay active. Some say they wanna fight but then turn down these opportunities.

akhmedov would've been a good fight, he was well ahead vs gongorra until the 12th round finish and it's not like richards has the power to do that

It would seem an odd thing for a guy like Lerrone Richards to be offered a place on the GGG/Canelo show but to turn it down without anything else on the table for him.

But we don't see all what goes on in terms of what fighters are told/notice they are given/other options and cash.

It is one less quality British fighter for Matchroom too.

I’d imagine he’s got a good offer from Boxxer but who knows. I think he said he was offered a spot on the Canelo/GGG card in May but was annoyed that he’d have to wait until September. I’d have thought, unless he has something firm lined up, that he should have taken the fight and then move on if he’s still unhappy.

He’s a good fighter but will be a struggle to promote as he’s a nice guy (can’t see him flipping tables), doesn’t punch hard and isn’t in exciting fights.

Inactivity for boxers at Matchroom is a problem at the moment. There are loads that aren’t active enough whilst they see Riakporhe fighting regularly on Sky.

if DAZN goes bad and bankrupt and Fast Car has to start from scratch, he will have earned so much money in the interim it's win win

Yep indeed, and part of the reason Sky aren't trying to build too big a stable I think.

There clearly just isn't the budget now for Matchroom shows to get the depth of UK fights on that Hearn previously promised, and indeed based the whole move to DAZN on.

Really interested to see Maxi Hughes's interview in Boxing News last week where he is bemoaning (gently) the fact he ended up facing Galahad with no other offers.

Richards is a good boxer, but lacks support and isn't exciting to watch, not even close. He could well win and hold a title for a long time. I rate him highly.

It was a good win over Gongora who was on a good run himself. All I could make out from his interview is that he hadn't waited 8 months to fight for it to be against someone who had lost to a fighter he had just beat.

Now he is out end of September early October in probably a warm up. Not sure what he has gained.

I was there yesterday, Hearn had what looked like a very friendly chat with Gallagher's corner immediately after the fight as Gallagher was leaving the arena. Gallagher looks a fabulous prospect, although he does take the occasional right cross over the jab which he shouldn't. Mind you, that just made it more exciting.
