Hrgovic is not that good, every time he got hit solid, he turned and started walking away like it was the end of the round, allowing Zhang to hit him with several clean shots to Hrgovics face. He looked like he was daydreaming when he turned away, If Zhang was hitting hard enough to make him not no where he was that many times Zhang probably won, It was clear Zhang's punches were more damaging. Hrgovic will not be avoided anymore, he is not good enough to be avoided
Regarding Hrgovic being avoided, I think that was more down to money. Ortiz, Parker and Joyce didn't like the idea of being forced to earn a small purse as the IBF B-side against Hrgovic.
Ortiz went the WBC route, Parker and Joyce have gone the WBO route.

Exactly! :TU:

The fighters ordered to face Hrgovic in the IBF eliminator would have been compelled (according to the IBF’s rules) to only accept a 25% purse split, with Hrgovic receiving the remainder, since Filip was rated 2nd.

But most fight fans are stupid, and prefer to believe the “everybody is ducking the fearsome Hrgovic” narrative, rather than conceding the rather obvious and more mundane factually accurate reason.

Basically, the likes of Hunter, Parker, Ortiz etc. all flatly-refused to take massive pay cuts and receive tiny purses, earning much less than a commercially unpopular anonymous fighter that constantly engages in mismatches against janitors, road sweepers, cab drivers etc.

On that showing I think Hrgovic gets knocked out by Joe Joyce in the mid to late rounds, Joyce brings constant pressure for the whole round and shows good variety in his punches when not eating them up.

The guys Ortiz has beaten frankly are probably no better than those Hrgovic has beaten. His resume is pretty bad.

Zhang is a better win than anyone ortiz has beat

He pulled out a win where he was hurt and probably concussed in rd 1. Great conditioning and grit.

You guys suffer from recency bias

The real question is can Ortiz beat Zhang? I don't think so. Ortiz would not be able to take half those punches that Hrgovic did.

Charles martins jab was rocking Ortiz. Those zhang shots would absolutely nap him.

Ortiz is harder to hit than hrg, but would expect zhang to stop current ortiz early.

That was a serious reality check for Hrgovic.

When faced with unexpected adversity for the first time, he looked close to quitting quite a few times.

The big question is just how much will he have learned from that fight.

At the very least he will appreciate that boxing is a much harder game than all of his previous fights had suggested.
