Decent fight this. Looking forward to it. A big night for Ben Davison too.

Two heavy hitters. What’s not to like?

Sam Maxwell vs. Shaun Cooper.

Maybe Maxwell wins this and then fights Dalton Smith.

That must be the plan. Get Maxwell back in the W column & get his name out there again (his Melendes IBO fight was on Probellum, doubt many would have seen it), and then he fights Dalton for the British in Sheffield in April, presuming both win.

If he gets through that, he's won the British outright, and then he can move onto the EBU or up the rankings. Would be a great start to 2023 for him.

Mauricio Lara: “Leigh Wood Will Need Therapy To Recover”

“I am not going to expect anything, I am going all in for everything from the first round. Wood punches harder than Warrington, but on February 18 we will see who has the biggest punch. We have a plan A and a plan B because we don't want to be surprised. We are well prepared,” Lara assured.

“I like that my opponent talks, he will see that it is not good to talk, that it is not good to hallucinate. I speak with my fists up in the ring. Wood is a great fighter but he is very talkative. Saying these things to me is his worst mistake, he will even need therapy to recover, I will be the worst nightmare of his life,” Lara said.

“I have confidence in myself because of my preparation and what we have worked for. What characterizes me is aggressiveness, being a warrior inside the ring, but we have worked hard in the gym to have more weapons in the fight."

DAZN makes its German debut on February 18 when they show 44-year old former world champ Felix Sturm (42-6-3) taking on Sukru Altay (15-2) on a show at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart.

Later the same evening DAZN switches to the show in Nottingham where Leigh Wood meets Mauricio Lara.

Great fight.

Torn between Lara early and Wood late. Wood finishes strong but can he stay switched on early doors and weather the storm. If he gives the opportunities to Lara that he did to Conlan he’s getting knocked out. Lara is a fast starter but was blowing out of his arse after 3 rounds against Emilio Sanchez last year before pulling out the knockout punch seconds later.

Lara KO.

I love this fight so much. This and the Cordina fight are the two I'll cancel other plans for on the DAZN schedule.

I’m strangely probably more excited for this fight and both of the other big fights so far in the U.K. this year.

I’m turning into a big fan of Wood. 2 real good wins in his last 2 fights and taking on Lara in a voluntary is crazy really.

I was meant to be away this weekend and would have missed this but plans have changed so will be able to catch it now along with watching Saints in the Rugby World Club Cup. Big win.

Unfortunately I think Lara probably wins by stoppage. Hope I’m wrong though.

Was in Nottingham the other week, they had a really good A3 print of Wood for sale in their tourist centre. The city loves him and rightly so. I'm torn about dazn as this is the only good fight on their schedule. For 100 quid may as well buy a ticket though

I think it’s pretty close to a sell out. Fair play to Wood.

I switched my account over from the monthly £7.99 to the £100 annual fee this morning when I finally got a message about it.

I think it will be worth the money but time will tell. In April we’ll get…

AJ/Franklin
Cordina/Rakhimov
A show in Sheffield likely headlined by Dalton Smith
Ortiz /Stanionis
Bam Rodriguez show
Plus potentially Tank vs Garcia (I’d really hope they don’t go with U.K. PPV for it)

You’re guaranteed to get at least a Whyte card, another AJ card if it’s not PPV.

Wood and Lara will likely be out again this year.

Bivol is gonna be out in June and probably again later this year. Roman Gonzalez will be out..

You may get a GGG card (he’s network free)

Canelo-Ryder is 99% done.

It just depends on opponents. Matchroom have a good stable still and mostly, we may not alway agree with the opponents of some boxers, but styles makes good fights and undercard fights can be decent too.

I reckon this time next year, you’ll be happy with your £100 spent.

I think if you watch all/the bulk of what’s on DAZN then it’s worth the money.

I have a 6 month old daughter so I’m up early with her every day so on a Sunday I get up at 5.30/6am and watch any of the US shows as live without knowing the results and fast forward through the guff between fights. Plus I watch pretty much all of the U.K. stuff live if I’m not busy so I’m happy with the value I get from it. Definitely worth £100 to me over the last 12 months.

If you’re not wanting to watch the overseas stuff and only care about/can only watch a few of the U.K. shows then I get not subbing.

Be careful with the BT show - it’s one of those where if the unknown away fighters are as bad as they could be then it could put you off boxing for a while!

Wood: "I Was The True Champion When I Beat Xu Can; Now It's Official And I Can Move Into The Big Fights"

“I get the confusion. In my eyes, I was the true (WBA) champion when I beat Xu Can,” Wood told BS.com. “Leo didn’t fight at featherweight all those years and nobody thought he was coming back to the division.

"For me, I won that fight and became the champion. Of course, now it’s official and I can move into the big fights, the unification fights.”

“There was times I thought it was a possibility,” Wood said of an actual fight with Santa Cruz. “I never believed it would happen over here (in England). When we got word that they were willing to work it out, I figured we’d have to fight him in Vegas or somewhere else in the U.S.

“I was on the fence with it because it was horrible emotionally. That’s finally been put to bed. I get to move on with my career.”

“That’s the good thing, really. The big fights are still there even if they didn’t come at the time I wanted,” noted Wood, who has won his last three starts and all inside the distance. “We’re still looking at [former two-time IBF titiist] Josh Warrington later this year after I get past Lara. Instead of a unification, I will be defending my title against him.

“We wanted the Conlan rematch right away but now that could be a unification if he beats [current IBF titlist] Luis Alberto Lopez. Or we could unify with Lopez. All of the fights that I’ve really wanted are still right there. It’s just happening in a different order because of all the WBA stuff but that’s behind me now.”
