Anthony Joshua wins today, but he is going to have to do better than that to beat Tyson Fury.
There wasn't many moments when AJ completely took over and he seemed to labor his way through twelve rounds.
Better hurry up and make Fury v Joshua before AJ gets any worse.

joshua won clearly enough, 9-3 cards were about right, but did his best wlad impression of just doing the mininimum to score points

The calmest I have seen Joshua, until the tense aftermath. Jermaine also making it look dull isn't helping AJ.

About the rest of the card: Galal was on point tonight for being his fourth pro bout and after the frustrating last one against a guy called Gohan. Ammo has power and I like him but he is hit-or-miss.

Joshua did what he had to do, but let's face it, that's not the Anthony Joshua we expect.

Joshua boxed clever and made the most of his natural advantages in there but this is now Joshua MK2, (post Ruiz 1).

Good stamina and patience but either that 2 handed power seems to have gone south for good or he just can't let his hands go anymore.

Or maybe it was because Franklin was good, real good. Fast hands, quick reflexes, good counters, and a good chin.

Now if only Ruiz had stayed down in that 3rd round.

Anyway, the good news is Joshua will be back again in July. Perhaps Fury has now seen enough and finally fancies it a bit more?

Out of Joshua or Usyk, Joshua might look the more beatable for Fury.

I suppose that it makes sense that Fury needs to get by AJ before getting a shot at Usyk.

Just stating the facts: The most important of which is Usyk is the class of the HW division. Fury can waddle around quacking and quapping into the sunset for all I care.

I have 0 interest in watching Fury v anyone but Usyk. I will read about it the next day, just as I read about the AJ v Franklin results after the fact.

Its all about making big money, living good, marinating, cherrypicking, timing, building up the hype/demand, keeping safe the 0 and the strap/s, cash in/out, carefully matching, coddling, protecting, inactivity, etc.

And people give to them their hard earned money making them even more richer.

Yeah I saw it.
Some call it "Gun Shy" don't they.
However, he got the win.
Got to imagine the training camp for the Fury fight will be among his most intense yet, he's got work to do that's for sure.
His weight seemed ok, 255 is about what he'll need to get past Fury, a bit lighter and he's too weak, a bit heavier and he's less mobile.
I think a lot of AJ's issues are in his head and he puts unnecessary pressure on himself that way.

I think considering the guy was supposed to be brought in as an easy win and it goes the whole 12 rounds, is not a good look. I think what people are applauding is something of a detriment because he looks more mechanical than he has been before. That kind of style is never going to beat somebody like Tyson Fury who is more relaxed and fluid. And if the new Anthony Joshua is somebody who forces clenches after jabs then he is just a poor man's Klitschko now.

If he is matched up with Tyson Fury next he will lose. What he needs is more tune up's. A complete and total rebuilding phase. Kind of like what Lennox Lewis did after losing to Oliver McCall. I figure Whyte next would be a good fight for him. The first time was gangbusters, so let's see how much he's improved since then.
