Ben Davidson had his fighter fighting the wrong fight, getting dragged into tear ups. Mcgregor will come again, but he could have beaten the Mexican with the right plan

Lee McGregor Wants Rematch With Robles: I Was Nowhere Near 100%
This past Friday night at Meadowbank, super bantamweight Lee McGregor (12-1-1, 9 KOs) suffered the first defeat of his pro career, when he dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Mexico's Erik Robles.
McGregor, who indicates that there were issues leading up to the fight, would like to set the record straight in a rematch.
"There were a few issues going into that fight that a lot of people don't know about and I was nowhere near 100 percent," McGregor explained to the Edinburgh Evening News.
"You need to be 100 percent going into a fight like that. But it was a fantastic fight, one I loved being involved in and I'm glad the fans enjoyed it. I know for a fact, that once I get these issues fixed, then I can beat that guy. The rematch is something I want, without a shadow of a doubt. If you take away that tick-over fight back in March, I had 13 months of inactivity, so momentum wasn't on my side, and nobody would have blamed me if I had turned it down.
"But I proved once again on Friday night, the warrior that I am. I need to sit down with the team, but I want to put it right. How good that fight was, is making me really hungry for the rematch and it's going to be huge and bigger than it was on Friday. This was my first big show in Edinburgh and look at what I did. The result didn't go my way but please believe me when I say that I will put it right and I will get that belt."

Don’t want to sound too cynical, but the above quote appears to have been copy & pasted verbatim from the “template statements for a losing fighter” textbook.

He is pretty limited. That Kash Farooq fight was a major robbery. He never deserved that decision. He does seem to have gotten worse since then.

Yeah, it's a belter of an interview. My favourite bit is the "if you completely ignore the fight I had in between, I'd been inactive for 13 months".
To be fair, the lad appears to have zero self-awareness. In Boxing News last week he said "I must be the unluckiest boxer in the world", whilst lamenting that the rematch with Farooq falling through cost him loads financially. No mention of his opponents career ending overnight...

just caught up with this, very good fight. thought robles won clearly though, those combos with the hooks were potent and he showed excellent gas to keep them up. most times mcgregor has a good moment robles came back with more. outfought lee despite looking the smaller man.
8-4 for me

Finally just caught up with this card...a miracle I managed to avoid the result LOL
Firstly....what a superb fight

Huge credit to both boxers
For me, Robles took the win sweeping the last 3 rounds with those fantastic never ending salvos

McGregor just couldn't raise his game in the last round, but Lee can hold his head up high...he gave as much as he possibly could.
There's no excuses I'm afraid, the best man won on the night...but what a fight !

Matty Harris badly exposed on the undercard.
Yep, Harris can punch but if they don't go over early & stay down we can now see what his resolve is like...poor
