THAT was early.......
......but let's not forget Weeks has had at least one fighter die because he let him go the distance.
absolutely - there were a lot of deaths in British rings and we got the "British Stoppage".
Too early for sure, but refs don't wanna be the guy that lets one go on too long.
they shouldnt be refs if they are going to panic into early stoppages

Did Vergil miss weight? Or did they not make him make 154? fornicating crazy getting an extra 7 lb to play with and not making it…

As for the early stop, I haven’t seen it, I’m sure it’s awful, but I’m not mad, this fight basically shouldent happen, it’s 100th in the world vs an absolute killer. Gross mismatch.

It’s a shame to see a good ref doing this.
Tony is closer than us and the responsibility sits with him I guess.
But these days we have so much close range footage from so many angles, and I just didn’t see a fighter that needed rescuing at that point.
It’s an average call by Tony and it while it does no favours for Lawson, it does nothing to help Ortiz blow out about 17 months of cobwebs either

The goat Rolly probaly regreting he didn't fight Davies.
Now he must face grandpa again :D

Except if he chooses Garcia instead of the belt.
Tough choice actually, especially because it's not a given he is gonna win the rematch.

Lawson's body language when ref jumped in was one of a fighter who had enough in all fairness, he didn't protest really until a good 10 seconds later, either way it was horrendous

If I were the ref, i would've simply given Lawson a standing 8 count.

Refs hardly ever do that. It's like, they blank out, panic, and forget about the sensibility and practicality of utilizing a standing 8 count.

This might've turned out to be a very good tuneup bout for Virgil. One that may very well had gone at least 4 rounds or so, but no, the ref obviously blanked out and panicked. A fighting man's ref is a proper ref. Not a ref with obvious paranoia issues. :-?
