Josh Warrington, Leigh Wood Make Weight Ahead Of Rematch

On Saturday night, the former featherweight champions will settle their long-running feud at a sold-out Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England, Wood’s hometown. Their 12-round, non-title fight will be streamed exclusively on DAZN, with coverage starting at 7 p.m. GMT (2 p.m. ET).

Wood weighed in at 129.8 pounds. Warrington officially weighed 129.7 pounds.

Wood (28-4, 17 KOs), a two-time WBA featherweight champion overcame a difficult start in October 2023 to score a stunning seventh-round stoppage of Warrington (32-4-1, 8 KOs). He told The Ring recently that he is determined to make things crisper and cleaner in their rematch and he gets the opportunity to do so in front of his home supporters.

Warrington, a two-time IBF featherweight champion, will bring a sizeable traveling army with him from Leeds. The 35-year-old has a burning sense of injustice about the way their first fight ended and has waited almost 2½ years for the chance to exact revenge.

“I’m fully focused. I’ve had a long old career, but this one’s right up there,” Warrington said at the ceremonial weigh-in. “The determination, the focus. I’ve rolled back the years for this one. Unfortunately, Leigh’s had a brilliant and long career, but ‘The Leeds Warrior’ is gonna be walking home with a victory. Revenge is sweet.”

A hyped-up Woods obviously disagreed.

“I’m gonna win and I’m gonna win quicker,” he said. “We’ll talk about tactics after. We’ll sit down and I’ll break it down for you. If he comes out quick and comes to me, it’s gonna end very, very quick, I promise you that.”

The weights for all fighters on the televised card are listed below.

DAZN

Junior middleweights, 12 rounds for Davis’ British and Commonwealth Titles

Ishmael Davis (15-3, 6 KOs), 153.5 pounds, Leeds, England.

Bilal Fawaz (10-1-1, 3 KOs), 153.9 pounds, London, England

Heavyweights, 6 rounds

Dave Allen (24-8-2, 19 KOs), 271.1 pounds, Conisbrough, England

Karim Berredjem (12-10, 3 KOs) 243.8 pounds, Clermont-Ferrand, France

Junior welterweights, 6 rounds for the vacant WBO title

Sandy Ryan (8-3-1, 3 KOs), 139.5 pounds, Derby, England

Karla Ramos Zamora (12-10-2, 4 KOs), 139.3 pounds, Chimalhuacán, Mexico

Heavyweights, 6 rounds

Leo Atang (4-0, 4 KOs), 235.9 pounds, York, England

Dan Garber (11-6, 2 KOs), 225.1 pounds, Bradford, England

I think Warrington at 5-1 to win by KO / TKO is a very good bet.

The first fight was very one sided & I felt it was only a matter of time before the towel came in. Others may disagree but I did think Warrington started to get complacent in there because it was far easier than he could’ve ever expected.

You can’t only applaud Wood for the resilience he showed but I think if he threw 5 punches at a stationary target he couldn’t hit them as well as he did Warrington that night & even after that it was still a debatable stoppage.

Added to that Wood has being stopped again since the first fight & is the older man then I’m Warrington all the way.

Warrington looks and acts juiced to the gills

I wouldn’t put it past him, rules in the ring mean nothing to him so why would rules outside it mean anything

If there’s a fighter in this that’s juiced to the gills my guess wouldn’t be Warrington

Not seen the interview to see how bad his speech has deteriorated, but any brain deterioration would surely be identified in the brain scan undertaken in the BBBOC medical,
I know a very very well known UK boxer who retired when the doctors identified slight (negative) changes in his brain scan.

“Nothing to immediately worry about but…” type affair so he retired .

Interestingly he did come back, didn’t set the world on fire and sky basically said “the public won’t take you seriously if you come back and perform like that… so forget boxing or forget job With us”

They deserve it :salut:
Warrington hasn't deserved his last two fights and doesn't deserve this one. Not only is he one of the dirtiest pros in the game, he is also a solid five years past prime.
and so it proved... :salut:
Still don't begrudge either a cashout tho'

Yeah, let's face it, he should be well cashed up and hopefully out. I hate dirty fighters and he is the worst I've seen in ages from the whole UK. Be glad to see the back of him.
