Whatever you may think sportswashing is, your post proves it is working.forcefraser wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 09:32 What exactly is sportswashing?
If its what I think it is haven`t they being doing that at Man City for over a decade?
Is their human rights record based on the poor working conditions of the migrant workers? They must be providing better wages and conditions than they could get at home otherwise they wouldnt have migrated there for work in the first place.
Unless they were kidnapped and put to work.
Sportswashing seems like a buzzword. Plenty of countries with historically terrible human rights records. If all were held to the same standards then Beligium would never be allowed in another tournament ever again

I found this. I quite like number 1. I guess the fact that they are number 2 in terms of excecutions means that USA is number one. Are they also sporstwashers?

I don't subscribe. Too old for buzzwords. If you don't like it turn off the channel.
It's hypocrisy on a whole new level.
Sportswashing, so terrible that those that oppose it still seem to watch. No audience = nothing to wash
People will soon get bored of it and move on to the next thing. I don't hear much of the pronoun bullshit anymore. Old news

Which channel do I have to turn off and why? I'm not an activist, never was, never will be. I live my own life, not for someone else's agenda.forcefraser wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 11:16 I don't subscribe. Too old for buzzwords. If you don't like it turn off the channel.

That doesn't mean I can't acknowledge why these fights are happening in Saudi Arabia. Why football clubs owned by the royal family spend fortunes to bring Ronaldo, Neymar and other big names to Saudi Arabia, why they get paid to play in almost empty stadiums, why they bring over musicians, tennis, MMA, European football teams and so on. There is nothing hypocritical about seeing reality as what it is. Hint: It's not for the people of Saudi Arabia. They don't even go to these events for a multitude of reasons.
You don't like hearing it? Turn off your computer. And accept that sportswashing is working. You comparing Saudi Arabia to Beligum and the US and getting angry at the word is exactly why they are doing it.
Just to let you know, that execution statistics you loved so much has China on first place, not the US. The US doesn't even have 10% of the numbers of Saudi Arabia with almost ten times the population.

Why on earth would you think they have to provide better wages AND conditions? If you provide better wages and worse conditions, even to the point where they are extremely hazardous to life, poor people are desperate enough to take the risk. This has happened since time immemorial.forcefraser wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 09:32 What exactly is sportswashing?

Tyson clearly comes out ready to join in what he sees as a big performance for the sake of publicity and realises that once again his father just doesn't get it.Jaguar wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 16:40 I don't know what's the matter with me, I must have watched this clip a dozen times now and I piss myself every time. Then the look on Tyson's face when he goes "how've you done that, silly cv nt?" Classic.
I know it's disgraceful behaviour and John deserves nicking for it, but I find the whole thing hilarious. Silly bollocks is pushing 60.
Then the follow up interview where Big John's giving it, 'Im a fighting man, I'm a warrior, he was in my face, blah, blah'. Kid's obviously done fvck all. Really, what is the matter with with him? It's absurd![]()

The problem is that we can pick massive holes in the US and the UK. They both lied about WMDs to kill hundreds of thousands in Iraq for a start, completely destabilising the region and causing untold damage. They have absolutely no problems being close allies with the Saudis and selling them arms despite the Saudis being all that you said. The Saudis killed a journalist in an embassy ffs and are running a dictatorship. Absolutely no problem to the US and the UK. They also fund the Israelis and look whats been going on there. I was just reading about the killing of Fred Hampton, a civilian who was targeted and murdered by the CIA. I could go on and on.Heldenjaeger wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 14:15

Personaly , i'm not going to refuse to watch a good night of boxing because the country hosting and paying for it executes people who break the law , In fact i think we need to bring back hanging has well , I'll go has far has to say , public beheadings on a saturday morning for the plenty who deserve it , Sunday morning public whippings for house robbers and the like , and maybee back to the stocks to throw smelly eggs for some of the less serious crimes should all be brought in , regards the other stuff that happens in Saudi , well its no concern of mine either Bet theres plenty of other countrys who are against Britain for allowing young girls to be groomed , selling arms to countries they should'nt , and the list you can throw back and forth would / will be huge .
Just mind your own buisness and enjoy the fights . People in glass houses and all that
