Back on topic and it's good to see Bruce Seldon way out in front and it's well deserved
Beat an over the hill Tony Tucker who was also suffering from drug problems then beat Joe Hipp who was totally obscure then lost a unification bout to Mike Tyson where he threw himself to the canvas twice pretending he'd received knock out blows , then when he rose for the second time and thought the ref might continue the fight he suddenly put on a "rubber legs" act that was so unconvincing it'd make the most far fetched episode of Doctor Who look like a fly on the wall documentary. Cue lots of sarcastic British journalists proclaim "Say what you like about our horizontal heavyweights but at least our boys take their beatings like men"
So Seldon wins it for me due to being the only HW champ to lose the title without being hit

Seldon had a decent ability, but if he sensed he was in any kinda danger he was an absolute coward.

And yes I can't disagree with this take either. Seldon or Martin are equally reprehensible Heavyweight titlists, and which one you'd have at the very bottom of the barrel is irrelevant.

They'd both beat Corbett, Fitzsimmons and Tommy Burns.

Corbett and Fitz. I doubt it. Tommy Burns maybe.
Martin won his title because the guy he was fighting blew his knee, lost it via 2nd round blowout to Joshua, and the only other time I ever saw him after that was on a small local card where he had a big gut while dispatching a journeyman in about 40 seconds.
Bruce Seldon doesn't have the heart to ever beat a fighter that would fight him back at a high level.

I'm gonna bump this thread as I think I may have a more definitive answer soon.
Right now my top nominee for weakest Champion would be Marvin Hart, but Bonecrusher Smith, Leon Spinks, Bermane Stiverne and Bruce Seldon could also be in the running for that dubious distinction, but I haven't crunched the info yet for the latter 3 as I have for Hart.
I don't think any other names would or could be in the running for this race to the bottom.

What about Trevor Bryan? I mentioned him earlier, I'd have to assume he'd compete for the worst score in your system among titleholders.

I don't recognize him as ever having held a World title

He had the prestigious WBA regular world title though. You can't take that away from him.

I acknowledge that he had that title. I just don't acknowledge that that's a legitimate World Title. When some other guy is WBA Super Champion, and you're just WBA Regular Champion well then...you're not Champion at all are you?
For the same reason I also don't recognize any of the "Championships" of Alexander Povetkin because he never had anything better than that same title, which again I don't recognize as a serious World Championship.

Poor Trevor Bryan, fated to be regular in a world of super titles.

As has been stated gil, Charles Martin won it in on an injury, and lost it by folding. The fact that his win was illegitimate crowns him. You can argue Norton, Wardley and Dubois got theirs outside the ring, but their fights straight after validated them, Martin handed his belt over

I'm not the biggest Charles Martin fan, I'd agree he's one of the worst hw titleholders ever, but I would take issue with calling his title win "illegitimate" and not just because I'm not sure if I can even spell it correctly.
Glazkov got injured and couldn't continue, that's a TKO for Martin. If a guy gets hurt that's his problem. That's why it's a TKO and not a NC. It's his responsibility to not get hurt. Otherwise a guy could just fall over claiming he pulled a testicle or something as soon as things don't go his way.
I agree it wasn't an impressive way to get it, and as I said I agree he's not a great fighter, but that win was as legitimate as any other, officially speaking.

Martin is certainly in the conversation for sure. There's a few others though. Martin definitely won his title in about as anti-climactic a way as possible.

Hard to imagine anyone who got more breaks than him. But there were some WBS titleholder who were worse.
