Shalom was interviewed at the weekend of Manchester amateur event.

He gave the impression that they would be announcing some more shows next week so assume that means they’ll be part of a new Sky deal.

Not seen the interview. Does he skirt around topic of Sky renewal and divert it into "we've got some shows coming up that we're getting ready to announce?"

I don’t think the renewal came up. Just mentioned they were looking to announce some shows next week. Would make sense to announce whatever their plan is whilst they’ve got everyone together from Sky/Boxxer for the Simpson show.

Could still be individual shows though.

What you could do if you're being crafty is announce upcoming shows during that Simpson show, say nothing about renewal, just let the announced shows imply that a renewal is in place and hope everyone runs with it.

If there is no renewal it will quickly leak out though. That guy at the Sunday Times who has done all the Boxxer exposes will soon ferret that out.

But maybe Sky will sign a big new contract with them, who knows

Yeah - I’d imagine if it’s a new deal then the deal itself will be announced next week.

If they’re just doing show by show then it may just be them announcing an Adam Azim card and that’s it. You’d imagine Shalom will be pushed on that if that’s the case.

Nothing has been announced re: the continuation of Top Rank’s shows on Sky Sporrs either. I’d imagine they don’t do much in the way of viewers but I’d also be surprised if Sky are paying much for them so they may just see it as cheap content.

Why can't TNT buy shows on a is it worth it basis ? Might get better shows than some of the dross BOXXER have put on SKY

TNT would be absolutely retarded to offer Boxxer a long term deal right after watching Sky not give Boxxer a new long term deal.

If they are getting dropped /not renewed then it's not for no reason, obviously sky would have done the maths on it and decided they're not worth it. Why would TNT come rushing in to pick them up?

I’m sure they can. There aren’t really many promotional stables/fighters of note that TNT would do something with at the moment.

If Sky are only offering a show by show deal to Boxxer then I’m not sure why Boxxer would reject that in favour of a similar deal at TNT.

The deals may be similar but It's being reported that Boxxer want to retain the exclusivity with SKY. TNT might well be prepared to offer that where as SKY aren't.

Perhaps but I think Shalom has made a rod for his own back. He’s seemingly done deals with boxers whereby they can leave if their fights aren’t shown and Sky and has openly said many times how Sky Sports is the premier place in terms of getting fighters exposure (which I think we’d all agree with).

So, if he does go to TNT on an exclusive deal, he could lose several of the better fighters he was dealing with and would need to do a lot more/spend more to push the shows as TNT aren’t able to do the same amount that Sky do.

I’d imagine we’ll find out this coming week what’s happening.

I actually think their output over the last couple of years has been poor. They haven’t really made many big fights in the US so hasn’t been much that I’d imagine would cause several thousand people to want to stay up and watch.

The stuff I’ve probably enjoyed most is their co-promo stuff they’ve got with Inoue.

I don't disagree with what you're saying and likewise - I have zero sympathy for Shalom, plus I dont rate him.

He had a proper gift with that SKY contract and his continued grift as a victim soured my view of him a long time ago. I'd say he's been very fortunate. The exact opposite of what he portrays himself as.

I do find his relationship with Hearn interesting. Do you think something might be going on there between the two companies?

I've wondered this for a while. Hearn has been like his PR man lately.

Boxxer reached a settlement with MR in the buatsi lawsuit. Maybe something around that? Whatever is going on, Hearn has toned it all right down, almost a 180. Very strange.

It's not as is there is gonna be any kind of bidding war over this particular promotion.

I quite liked him initially. He spoke about trying to improve things, like judging after the Taylor/Catterall fight but I didn’t take long before he just came across as disingenuous. I don’t like all the victim stuff. Promoters shouldn’t be pushing for sympathy.

I don’t think anything is going on between Matchroom and Boxxer. Eddie should probably leave it because whenever he and Shalom do an interview he gets accused of bullying because of the way he talks to Ben.

I wonder if Eddie will try and push Sky to hold off doing a deal with Boxxer though. They haven’t got long left on their deal with DAZN (I think a year) and could look to try and get a deal whereby their U.K. shows are shown on Sky Sports, any UK PpVs are shown on both DAZN and Sky, Uk shows are shown globally on DAZN (exc the UK) and any shows outside of the UK are shown purely on DAZN.

Eddie surely must realise that DAZN aren’t anywhere near where they’d have expected to be by now in the U.K. and it’s extremely difficult to build someone on the network.
