Fortunately for Benavidez, Zurdo doesn't appear to hit particularly hard.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑02 May 2026, 13:48 People are writing Zurdo off in this fight, I think he's in with a really good shout of winning this.
Benavidez has been dropped twice. Both guys are a similar height to Zurdo and one of them was a southpaw. Ramirez is great in the pocket.

Fabulous PPV- worth every penny. Been a while since I saw a card this good. My only complaint was the decision in the Duarte bout.

Benavidez pummels Zurdo, scores 6th-round KO to make history
'Mexican Monster' wins unified cruiserweight belts in stellar performance, becomes 1st to win titles at 168, 175 and 200 pounds
In 2016, when David Benavidez was a 19-year-old prospect, he was paid $3,000 to serve as a sparring partner to help prepare Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for what became his first world title victory against then-super middleweight titlist Arthur Abraham.
A decade later, Benavidez, in his prime and one of the best fighters in the world, battered Ramirez’s left eye, knocked him down twice, and pummeled him into a sixth-round knockout to take his unified WBO/WBA cruiserweight world titles in the headliner of a thoroughly action-packed PBC on Prime Video Cinco de Mayo weekend pay-per-view card on Saturday night before a raucous and heavily Mexican crowd at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In soundly defeating his longtime friend, with whom he had sparred more than 200 rounds over the years, Benavidez not only won a world title in a third weight class but became the first fighter in boxing history to win titles at super middleweight — where he became the youngest in division history to do so in 2017 — light heavyweight and cruiserweight in the biggest win of his career.
Benavidez, who still holds the WBC light heavyweight title, moved up 25 pounds to cruiserweight to challenge Ramirez and turned in essentially a flawless performance.
