It doesn’t work like that. This will have to be the one fight as Matchroom had matching rights in his deal.

Crazy fight for TKO/Turki to pay Benn $15m for.
It's plausible that it was a one fight deal with an option for a warm up within the same contract. Structured like that it seems unlikely that Matchroom could match it. Alternatively, once signed, they could have offered him another fight as an addendum. Third option is that they've grossly overpayed for this because they're not sure if Fury Vs Makhmudov fills the stadium on its own and the Netflix money is big enough to throw around.
Thats not plausible.

Matchroom had to match terms of the deal presen a which is 1 fight and, supposedly, $15m.

The deal can’t then change otherwise Matchroom will be able to sue. They cant offer addendums either.

I agree with your third point. I think Turki has gone all in with Zuffa/TKO and we know $15m isn’t much for them.

I think we have to read between the lines. The 15m is to get Benn away from his former best friend. It's not about the fight itself but sticking to to Fwank and Edday by having Benn and Fury on the same card, showing who the new king in town is.

how can a mediocre undercard fight at 150lb catch weight, with a never has been vs a washed up 140lber be a 15 million dollar fights
$15M is nothing to the Saudis. it wouldn't even register with them.
Saudis pay above market price but they don’t normally just completly ignore it. Mabey I’m wrong but this feels way out.

For 15 million you could get a good fight like Benn vs Kelly…. (Both paid for and both over paid, headlining with a world title fight selling out a stadium)

If it was a multi fight deal, and this was the first underarm gift but then it was Ryan Garcia… ok fine.

But if this is actualy a 15 million one fight deal… then if they want to work with him again he is going to want closer to 50 for a Ryan Garcia fight… and that’s just a mess.

Prograis: Overhyped Benn Would Be A Nobody Without Last Name

Regis Prograis doesn’t see anything special in Conor Benn.

In fact, if it weren’t for his upcoming opponent’s last name, Prograis figures Benn wouldn’t command much attention in the boxing world. The longtime junior welterweight will face a weight disadvantage against Benn on April 11, yet Prograis is confident that his skills will set him apart from the heavily favored British star when they square off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

“I talked to my coaches and all my team – they believe in me,” Prograis told The Ring. “And I believe in myself. I just feel like I’m better. Like weight-wise, no matter what it is, if he’s small, if he’s big, if he’s the same size as me, I feel like skill-wise I am better. I feel like Conor Benn has a name because of his dad, that’s it.

“But if his last name wasn’t Benn, he would be a nobody. And for me, I never had no type of people in my family that boxed before, and I still made it to the top twice. So, I just feel like I’m better, that’s all. I feel like I’m a better fighter and that’s it.”
Benn, 29, and Prograis, 37, will fight at a contracted catch weight of 150 pounds.

New Orleans’ Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs), a former two-time 140-pound champ, weighed in at 142 pounds for his last fight – a 10-round, unanimous-decision defeat of Joseph Diaz Jr. (34-8-1, 15 KOs) on August 2 in Chicago. Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) officially weighed 159¼ pounds for his most recent action, a unanimous points victory over rival Chris Eubank Jr. on November 15 in London.

Zuffa Boxing signed Benn to a one-fight contract that will reportedly pay him $15 million to face Prograis in the co-feature of a Ring card that will match former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury against Arslanbek Makhmudov in the 12-round main event. Netflix will stream the Fury-Makhmudov and Benn-Prograis fights globally.

Benn’s eight-figure addition to the roster of Zuffa Boxing, in which Ring owner Turki Alalshikh is an investor, is considered a significant signing for the upstart promotional company because Benn is one of boxing’s biggest stars in the United Kingdom.

The Ilford, England native and Eubank helped sell out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their two middleweight matches in 2025. Beating Eubank (35-4, 25 KOs) in their rematch enabled Benn to avenge his unanimous points loss in their first fight April 26.

Prograis contends that the success of those two Ring events had more to do with the star statuses of their famous fathers – Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr. – than their sons’ abilities.

“I definitely feel like he’s been overhyped,” Prograis said regarding Benn, who opened as a 13-1 favorite. “Even with the Chris Eubank fight, and I don’t wanna disrespect Chris Eubank, but I don’t think Chris Eubank ever been a champion before, either. And [Benn] lost to a guy like that. Obviously, [Eubank] was bigger and stuff like that, but man, I feel like I’m a world-class fighter and it’s levels, and Imma show it. I know Imma show there’s levels to it.”

Didn’t know this fight was at a catch weight. Can’t say I’m surprised though Benn needing a bit more help to beat a shop worn light welter says it all really.

And he still won't stop him, and I could easily envision a controversial close decision.

Honestly the fact that Benn costs 15 Mil for this fight, it might be in eveybody's best interest (the promoters included) if he loses

Speaking on talkSPORT Boxing, British heavyweight Allen was honest with his assessment of where Benn is at.

“I don’t know how good he is, because in my opinion, he’s the best-matched fighter in history. How he’s made millions of pounds I’ll never know. Well, we do, it’s his dad’s name and that, and I say fair play to him.

“He struggled with Peynaud; he’s never boxed for an area title, he’s never boxed for a regional title, he’s never boxed for a British title, Commonwealth or European. That’s how you rank people.”

He then assessed the fights he has won, including his biggest victory back in November.

“Eubank were dead at the weight the second time and he’s not as good as he used to.”

Prograis has a pretty good shot at bursting his bubble, if he's not slid too far at this point. Skills-wise he has performed levels above.

Gonna be a British stoppage.

Can see it now.

Similar to when he fought Vargas..

Throw 7-8 shots around the ring, get him on the ropes and can rely on that British ref to stop it.

Josh Taylor Says Regis Prograis Is ‘Long Finished’, Backs Conor Benn To Win April 11 Fight

Former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor has backed Conor Benn to beat Regis Prograis on April 11, telling Boxing News that his old rival has been “finished for a long time.”

Taylor defeated Prograis by majority decision in the 2019 World Boxing Super Series final, a result that informs his assessment ahead of the 150-pound catchweight bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The fight sits as co-main event to Tyson Fury’s comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov, broadcast live on Netflix under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

“He goes and fights Regis Prograis who, with all due respect, I think has been finished for a long time,” Taylor said. “His last couple of performances haven’t been great at all.”

Taylor stopped short of writing Prograis off entirely, adding: “He is still a great fighter, still a world level fighter, but he is not the same Prograis that he was before.”

Prograis’ Recent Record Backs Up the Verdict

Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs), now 37, has gone 1-2 since losing his WBC super-lightweight title to Devin Haney in December 2023. A second consecutive defeat followed against Jack Catterall in October 2024. He returned to winning form against Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz in August 2025, but was rocked badly in the opening rounds by a fighter who had moved up from featherweight.

The southpaw from New Orleans had vowed to retire if he lost to Diaz. He survived, winning a unanimous decision, but the performance raised questions about his durability at this stage of his career.

‘Not the Best of Boxers’

Taylor’s prediction favours Benn, though it comes with a caveat about the 29-year-old’s technical ceiling.

“Conor Benn is not the best of boxers, he is not a great boxer,” Taylor said. “He is aggressive, he is tough and he is strong, but he is not the best of boxers.”

Benn is coming off a unanimous decision win over Chris Eubank Jr. at the same Tottenham Hotspur Stadium venue in November 2025. That fight capped a long promotional build under Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, a partnership Benn has since ended in favour of a deal with Zuffa Boxing.

‘Bizarre Move’ for Benn

Taylor questioned the logic of Benn’s promotional switch, suggesting the move away from Matchroom made little sense beyond financial reward.

“I think that it is a bit of a strange move,” Taylor said. “Conor moved away from Matchroom because he wants to go and have massive fights and world titles and all of that.”

He called the shift “bizarre” but acknowledged the economics. “Fair play to both lads, they are getting money and they are getting paid very handsomely for it.”

According to boxing insider Dan Rafael, Benn will earn $15 million for the single fight. TKO Group Holdings COO Mark Shapiro has said the purse is covered by Saudi-backed entertainment company SELA, not by TKO out of pocket, per MMA Fighting.

Eddie Hearn to listen with interest as BBBoC confirm that April 11 is not a Zuffa promotion

It was this week revealed by Boxing Scene that Spencer Brown, of Gold Star Promotions, will be the lead promoter for the forthcoming Tyson Fury-Arslanbek Makhmudov show on April 11 in London.

That news – which was first confirmed to Boxing Scene by the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday (March 11) – has pricked the ears of Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom promoter who recently saw Conor Benn wave goodbye and sign a surprising deal with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing.

Benn, who had been signed to Matchroom since 2016, is set to make his Zuffa debut on that April 11 undercard in a 10-rounder against Regis Prograis.

During an interview with IFL TV on Thursday (March 12), when it was put to Hearn that Brown will be the lead promoter on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium event, he replied: “Is that confirmed, though? Because [Zuffa’s] Mark Shapiro came out on the investor call, which you can’t lie on, and he said, ‘we are the promoters of Fury-Makhmudov’.

“We’ll be looking to get confirmation of that because it’s quite important to us,” Hearn continued. “Does that mean that Conor Benn is not fighting on a Zuffa card?”

Hearn, who is considering his legal position regarding Benn’s move to Zuffa, has been working as a licensed promoter in Britain since 2012. He will know, therefore, that unless a promoter has British licence he cannot be the lead promoter on a British event.

“I don’t want to interfere with an investor call where Mark Shapiro is telling investors, and the market, that they are the promoters of Fury-Makhmudov,” Hearn said. “I could have told you at the time they weren’t. But it has now – apparently – been confirmed that they’re not the promoters and Spencer Brown is the promoter.

“We’re going to need confirmation of that. We will be pursuing that, 100 per cent.”

Robert Smith, of the BBBofC, today (March 13) told BS: “As far as we are concerned it is a Spencer Brown show. He is responsible for the show, he is our contact for the show. It is his show and nobody else’s show.”

So, if a representative of Zuffa, like Dana White, was going to work on the event in an official capacity they would need be report to Brown?

“Gold Star will be the lead promoter,” Smith said. “But he can run the show ‘in association with’ an American promoter which is something we’ve seen many times. Top Rank, for example, have worked alongside Matchroom and Queensberry in the past but, on each occasion, the official promoter of the event is always the British promoter.

"The lead promoter on a British show must hold a British licence."

Howay ppl, how on earth can this good forum seriously be voting in favour of Prograis winning. He is absolute fodder. Another ghost of a fighter to make Benn look good. Benn will win by some sort of unanswered punches tko. Rinse and repeat for the rest of his fraudulent career. Mayweather or pac next.
