Sports commentary and punditry is in the gutter these days, it's not about the sport, it's about selling a product.
You get rid of Smith and you'll just end up with another clueless tit.

True. But there is no one as infuriating and irritating than Smith. So performative and melodramatic whilst offering no insight. He’s actually got worse - the early Sky stuff he was not that hyperactive and over the top.

I still think the worst piece of commentary I've ever heard in boxing was Jim Lampley shouting "BANG" everytime Pacquiao landed punches on some opponent he was twatting all over the place.

Worse than Bellew having Bomber on his shorts having nothing to do with the Manchester bombings?

Anyone know this Craig Scott? He’s a chuffin good writer
Yes. He's a good bloke. Been around the scene for a long time. Had a successful spell as a Stand Up Comedian as well.
Cheers

I will almost allow that from Smith as it’s so ridiculous, preposterous, Monty python like, that it was jaw dropping. A fantastic comedy moment
The single most ludicrous bit of commentary ever
If boxing commentary had Razzies, this would be unbeatable.

Lampley was dreadful. While at HBO he introduced the dark art of selling the channel by overhyping fighters. He also loved the sound of his own voice and would waffle incessantly.
