Ok, that's fine. While it sounds a little more like we've just described the World Wrestling Federation rather than boxing. I don't see anything wrong with discussing the reports. Some of them might not be true; some of those releases are probably part of the promotion's hype machinery, many if not all comments made are tainted with bias.
But that's how the world works - it's not exclusive boxing. You go inside a courtroom and it's the same ol' thing. In politics, the same o'l thing. At work, it's the same ol' thing. While I'm young, I've lived long enough to approach pretty much everything in life with jaded question mark above my head, that deosn't mean I won't form my opinions with substance from actual reports.
Ofcourse we will all be a lot more accurate if we talk historically; about things that have already happened, contracts that have been signed, fights that we've seen. But this is the course the discussion has taken and if we have to forecast on the likely scenarios, we should base them on something.
Great forums you have here, by the way!
Personally I think if push comes to shove both the Mayweather and Hatton camps would like to put the fight off for a while to build it up. I wish they'd get it on right away! It will be interesting to see what Mayweather does next, I truly hope he does not fight Judah that would be a travesty. Mayweather T/KO's Judah easily.

Mismatch or not, I'd like to see Mayweather versus Baldomir. Whether or not Baldomir has a token defense or not in his hometown. He showed that he couldn't be counted out 'til it's all over.
Hatton versus Mayweather, as much as it would be the best fight in boxing now bar none, I just don't think it's going to happen while both fighters are still undefeated. If they wanted that, the time would have been this year. One camp or another just isn't interested yet.
You'd think with all the talk they'd have done it in already. It's so huge already I they should jump on the tide and strike while the iron is still hot.

Maybe they are waiting for Hatton to have a fight or two stateside. This would greatly increase the value of the fight, as although Hatton picked up some fans after beating Tszyu, he is far from being a household name in America, and let's not forget that Mayweather isn't a PPV star, he's only appeared on one PPV, and that was only because he fought Gatti.
Hatton will bring a lot of dollars to the fight as Mayweather isn't very popular with the fans, and doesn't exactly bother his arse with press conferences, which he seems to fail to realise are a vital part of making a big fight big.
This fight won't happen until next year.

True outside hardcore fans I imagine Hatton is a relative unknown in the US. A couple fights there certainly wont hurt him, and if they get Gatti in the ring for April/May then he'll pick up plenty of new fans if that fight turns out to be a war. I think Hatton beats Gatti to a pulp BTW.

He's gaining popularity. In a major fight in the US, they announced he was ringside and the crowd had a good cheer for him. That was after he beat Tszyu. He's also apparently popular among Mexicans because they like his style, gave him some funny moniker, "The White Mexican". LOL. But he could be bigger by the end of the year after those three proposed fights.

Hatton is definitely a crowd pleaser, but his style doesn't lend itself to a long career at the top IMO. Coupled with his ballooning weight between fights I say Hatton is at the top of his game for another couple of years at the most. They should take one tuneup then get him into the big fights he craves.
