james toney would counter skelton silly. sadly williams is out of shape and no james toney.

skelton W12(UD).
Toney is hardly Ken Norton conditioning wise... he's about 30 pounds overweight himself...
i meant the countering bit. :D not the weight bit. :TU:

toney's weight is still a fornicating sight better than danny's.

Wlad would pick Skelton apart. Come on guys Skelton uses his weight and brawls with all his opp. He is very poor technically but cant knock his heart. They say Sam Peter's was limited, I think Skelton is more so.

Credit goes to Skelton though for trying his best with what he has.

Not really, at least Danny is a legit heavyweight, Toney should be a Lightheavy at the most... its only his skills that allow him to carry off being so heavy...

Toney is fat, but he carries his weight very well. He can always last the 12 rounds with good pace.

Williams always says the right things though. Danny seems like a great guy and can be at times a good fighter, but there is just something missing from his 'fighters make-up' as many a poor and disappointing performance has shown over the years.

Skelton for all his technical limitation always come for a fight, wether it's for one or twelve rounds he will be in your face trying his best to take your head off and break your spirit.

I believe Skeltons strength, workrate and atitude will enable him to overcome the more talented Williams sometime in the second half of the fight.

Superior talent means very little if Williams doesn't have the fitness or desire to use it.

Very true, boxing is often about who is the toughest mentally rather than who has the best physical talents... I belive that Williams, despite his undoubted courage, doesn't really enjoy fighting as much as Skelton does... Matt strikes me as the type who may even enjoy training and fighters like that are usually hard to beat...

Toney is really a cruiserweight these days, he looked in fantastic shape when he fought Jirov, little bit of a gut, but I think that's partly his genotype, he carries a bit of extra weight around the midriff.

Toney also obviously likes jacking weights too, he's added a lot of muscle at heavy, not sure that it's helped him much but psychologically he obviously feels better.

Think Toney will struggle when he fights a bit, hard hitting heavyweight like Sam Peter who doesn't care about being made to miss and keeps coming.

There was a quote attributed to Skelton in a paper I read the other day (Which would make it The Independent, probably or maybe the Times)

But he said: "As stupid as it seems, I look forward to it [a fight], that's what spurs me on."

Skelton has his faults, we all know it. But the bloke has a true fighting heart. Skills are great, and we all know that they can make a difference in the so-called 'sweet science'. But I back Skelton in a British title fight, He really wants to fight, you know? Skelton will overwhelm Williams. And Harrison, for all his suppopsed skill would not stand a chance.

Its going to be messy, but with Dannys poor conditioning (despite his protests to the contrary), and Skeltons Mauling forward-march style, I think we're looking at a hugfest with Skelton winning on points. Williams will have to get combinations off inside to get anywhere in this one, and I don't think he's capable of it in the sort of condition he usually comes in at. The performance in the Tyson fight was great, but was an anomoly (have I spelled that right???), he's never looked like the same fighter since (or before, I remember the Samil Sam fight) . To be honest, I can't see either of them going much further in the division, even though its pretty poor at the moment. Williams is too fat and Skeltons too old.

Theres the age thing again, it doesn't matter so much how old you are, its the shape your in that is more important. Skelton is probably one of the best conditioned heavyweights around at the moment...

Danny doesn't show up for press conference.

Trainer says he's gone to pray since Skelton was late in traffic. :-?

Danny was there he just left because Skelton was late, it wasn't a non-show.

McDonnell promised us to expect a surprise tomorrow at how cut Williams will be! We'll wait and see

We are entitled to different opinions even while being on the same planet. I find it hard to imagine Peters murdering anything other than a big meal to be honest... I fail to see whats so impressive about him... against Klitchenko he was unable to finish a fighter who was out on his feet and who basically can't take a heavy punch. Peters is too heavy and too slow and would be outhustled by Skelton and probably stopped... his overall conditioning and technique is appalling...

A 'cut' Williams?

Well, we will indeed have to wait and see.

The only time Williams came in "cut" was against Sprott in the second fight, and although it seemed to hamper his overall movement considerably he did appear to be very powerful in that condition. I'd pick that version to wreck Skelton.

Came in very light for the Long fight too, but looked pretty awful and got hurt by Long. Don't know what it is with Williams, he is obvioulsy too heavy, but when he comes in light he often looks drained, maybe it's the methods he uses to get the weight off, probably doesn't help that by his own admission he baloons between fights.

So Skelton will keep the Gammer/Lonsdale outright bout, even if he loses to Danny? To be honest, I'm marginally more interested in that one than tomorrow's.

Stupid not to have the British title up for grabs in this fight... just when it looks like we have a decent British heavyweight title fight the board in their wisdom decide on this course of action!... no wonder British boxing is in such a mess!... :x

It was Skelton's choice not to make it a voluntary defence, although reading between the different quotes I am guessing if more money had been put up Skelton would have taken the fight as a voluntary.
