Last nights fight was a brawl, Williams got scared and Skelton got dirty (far play to him thou) That ref was also massivly biased towards Skelton, U cant keep using ur head once u been warned and carry on bein dirty! He deserved to have points deducted for that. But then williams didnt complain at the end, fair play!

In my opinion it was a draw, what did any off them do that was so impressive that made them stand out. Neither should skill or talent although both showing alot of heart (skelton more so i felt)

Harrison is a joke and I hope he stays around long enough for me to turn pro and beat him his ass, and both williams and skelton are far below average on a world level! (valuev aint much better but then thats a hole different arguemennt)

Williams has never beaten anyone decent and that win against tyson was a fluke! It took the guy 22 punches to knock him out. 22 punches!!!!! 22 punches by any 20 stone man should kill you not just knock u down! The guy cant punch, he aint fit, he has little body movement and is so slow!

I think this world title fight everyone seems to think williams deserves with valuev should go ahead! It will be funny to watch 2useless talents scrap around the ring! Or better still give it to audley, im sure this guy is sat at home convinced he can still beat every man in the world...with ease!

There all a bunch of trash talkin wanna bes! Stop talkin, and start trainin alittle more! I wish lennox would come back beat them all up and show 'um how its done!
How heavy do u think williams will come in if the fight wit Valuev goes ahead. This man is mosterous in size, im sure willaims would look like butter bean....lol
Well at the risk of being nationalistic I think if you compare the size of England and America (not to mention the average sizes of the people in these countries!) we aren't doing too bad over here really.... i mean what hotshots have America got?.... probably the best Heavyweight the US can offer is a 38 yearold ex middleweight champ whose about 30 pounds overweight. I actually think both Williams and Skelton would give Valuev a good fight, and I don't really see many American heavies that would do much better....
Hence my point about the heavy weight divison being aload of shit at the moment! I never implied any american fighters were any good! All these guys are gunna look the same when they fight because there all at the same crappy level.

Wait untill a real champ comes along and the difference in ability will be obvious. Dunno wen one's gunna come along thou...doesnt look promising :(

Williams carried his weight well last night, looked trim, I'd like to see him up his work rate and he'd need to do so against Valuev but all in all it was a good performance by Danny, he looked as sharp as I've seen him for quite a while and definately showed that he's still got the hunger and considering all his ups and downs thats quite commendable I think.... you can't fault Dannys heart...

He is still at least stone overweight and I think he is kidding himself when he says he will be in better condition than for Valuev. He has being saying that crap since the Sam fight. He simply doesn't have the willpower to do 2-3 months hard time in the gym anymore

I watched the fight down a boozer in Elgin, so couldn't hear the commentary (might not have missed much there though!!). I thought Skelton had got a point deducted and said to my mate that I although I thought Skelton had just nicked it, Williams' big last round saved him.

What got me, however, was the slackness of the top ropes in the first 2/3 of the fight. I thought Skelton had Williams rattled once or twice (around the 7th if memory serves), but the ropes were so slack Williams leaned back and the ref had to separate them. I thought this was poor.

Anyway, I thought it was a good, entertaining fight with a predictable amount of mauling. Shame these boys weren't a little younger so that more could be made of their rivallry. And for what it's worth I wanted Skelton to win because Williams has had and blown his chance and I liked the idea of someone else getting a go! This said, I hope Williams goes on to do it now.

He looked a little better but not much.

Not suprising that most of the heavys have got beer guts though.

Williams isn't really all that fat, a little soft. He carries about two stone too much muscle on his frame, he's inflexible and his stamina is poor. I was watching some heavy fighs from the sixties this afternoon, the contrast was frankly depressing.

He carrys to much muscle? what r u talkin about!
The more muscle a boxer has the more power he can generate. rememmber muscle is what moves u!

Fat is useless and uncontractable, theres no reason to be fat! The bloke was fat and skelton was a lot fatter! He had no abs and vascilarity in his arms! Flexibility has nothing to do with the amount of muscle or fat u have on u so even if williams lost 2 stone he would still be stiff slow and crap!

Look at mariusz pudzianowski (3x world strongest man) for example, the man weighs 20stone is cut to shit, fast as hell and can do the splits! He used to box to u know!

Williams has already been at the top level and failed. He's also been at a level below the top and failed. His 'name' is somebody who got lucky against the injured shell of Mike Tyson and was pulped by Vitali.
so a 39 yr old crude brawler is a better win. williams will get opportunities cos of his "name".

once a boxer gets a foot in the door, he generally gets another one. skelton is too ugly on the eye to be as marketable as williams.

so in my opinion, williams winning is a much better result. :TU:

Good, you're entitled to your opinion. The attraction of watching Skelton is one of watching a video nasty. You know you should be doing something more worthy but it is strangely compelling.

He would have been dual champ and still unbeaten. In fact, being a fouling machine AND unbeaten would have made him more marketable.

However, this debate is rather like saying "Would you rather be in hospital with glandular fever or food poisoning?"

You are talking utter cuntybollocks.

If you put Mariusz Pudzianowski in a boxing ring now, he would be utterly exhausted after 2 rounds. I guarantee it. There have been a few body builders who tried to take up boxing, and they were shite.

Muscle tissue burns a huge amount of oxygen when you do cardiovascular exercise, which is why you very rarely get big muscular long distance runners or professional cylists. The more muscle you heap onto your frame the more oxygen you require, and the harder the heart has to work

Power in boxing is also not directly related to physical strength, if it were, then the biggest punchers in heavyweight boxing would all have looked like the guys who compete in the worlds strongest man. It's to do with timing, flexibility and precision. Physical strength can help of course, but look at Valuev, I'll bet he is massively strong but he isn't a puncher.

Williams was carrying more extra flab than Skelton by a mile, but he also had a lot more underlying muscle which made him look more toned. Skelton looked very old I thought, he had loads of loose skin and really flabby looking around the back.

James Toney is overweight but he has better Stamina than the vast majority of heavyweights out there, and especially the big muscle bound types like Lance Whittaker and Jameel McCline.

Skelton getting the nod would have been much worse for boxing given the amount of fouling he did in that fight. He should have had at least 2 points deducted for naighty business. They should give DW the British title if he wants it, and if a crack at Valuev can't be arranged then he should get a go at the European title rather than a rematch with Skelton, who, having got away with what he did on Saturday, will probably come into the ring next time with horseshoes in his gloves.

The fact remains, that had Skelton won (which he didn't deserve to in my book, but it was a hard fight to judge) he would have been 19-0 and they could have trumped him up and tried to sell a fight with one of the belt holders.

After the way Williams was annihilated by Klitchsko, it's going to be very hard to sell Williams again as a worthy opponent.

But essentially it was a lose-lose situation. Regardless of building up a fight with the unbeaten Skelton, he would have lost at the highest level too. Would have just been delaying the inevitable.

The winner of Skelton-Williams will get anything but no title fight vs Valuev or whoever. This was a marketing gag to sell tickets. Sauerland released a press info especially for the british market that Valuev won´t fight any brit.

The best Williams can get is another glorious fight for the British or the Commonwealth title against another british "prospect" or another try for the European belt. I would love to see him vs Sam again to get another lesson. IMO there are more than ten Europeans who are better than Williams or the other british guys......

European level, who else could you rate in the EBU past Danny except for SSS and Krasniqi?

They got Skelton at 2 and now that Dannys beat him he''ll be no 2 since SSS No 1.

I didn't say European level though, did I donkey bollocks? I said European Champion Material. Danny was smashed to bits by Samil Sam and I think the outcome would be the same if they fought again.

Saying someone needs to loss muscle coz they look fat is kinda stupid thing to say. shows you know very little about the human body. No point arguing with you thou, u obviously know more! Seems alot of boxers and coaches are stuck in their old school training methods that are very ineffective.

Saying that fighters don't lose flexibility if they are heavily musceled is just plain wrong... the fact that Mariussz USED to be a boxer speaks volumes... I doubt that he would last 2 rounds with Williams or Skelton... running a few feet with a cannonball is a lot different to fighting for 3 minutes with someone hitting you.... if you watch some of Dannys older fights from when he was younger and lighter you'd see that he was much quicker and had a higher workrate...
