To sum up.

Calzaghe put on a sublime performance against a feared puncher.

Jeff needs to work on his boxing ability.

Matty has apolagised for underestimating Joe for the millionth time.

Fist give it a break :TU:

THANK YOU!

Holy shit.

I've been saying that for two fornicating days, and I think that's the best way to translate it.

But you know what? I knew this before the Lacy fight.

He was made but Lacy was a legitimate fight and Calzaghe was accused of ducking before it.

Lacy wasn't hand picked either as it was Lacy first pushing for this fight.

PBF pursued Hatton....twice, and Warren turned that down.

Don't know if thats true but this thread isn't about Floy and Hatton.

Ricky said it in an interview...must have some truth. But it was just an example that the pursuer can be turned down.

Of course Lacy was handpicked.

To be precise: Warren waited 10 long years until a beltholder came along who had a US-passport, an exciting style, but limited boxing capaibilties. In other words: good money, little risk.

When the chance came Warren took it. As I hav said numerous time, I have a certain grudging respect for that.

Joe LOOKS LIKE world class against hand-selected, limited, over-hyped sluggers. Noone is better than him in annilihating walking punching bags.

To be world class you need to beat someone who is close to world class. Calzaghe hasn't ever done this, not even remotely. And he never will, at least as long as he is managed by F.rank Warren.

Well, if that's the case, then neither has anyone else in the division. Who has Kessler beaten, a shopworn and inactive Lucas? Lucas had exactly two fights since 2003 before facing Kessler, against James Crawford (hohoho), and the megastar Tony Menefee......

Shaky Anthony Mundine, Manny Siaca?

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Calzaghe already beat Reid, Brewer, Sheika, Mitchell, Woodhall and Lacy, that's easily more impressive than Kessler's resume.

Kessler looks good so far, but he's yet to face a real test. He's just a peripheral belt holder right now.

Understandable...but either way, Kessler hasn't done any more or less than Lacy to get a shot at Calzaghe...I really want to see this fight, could really bring a good name to either fighter world wide.

Watch a couple of recent Kessler fights and then we'll be talking.

Easy to look good against poor competition. Whilst I might be impressed at his potential we won't know what he can do at top level until he faces someone better. You are obviously sold on Kessler's potential, but when you've been following boxing a long time, you realise that you're only as good as your opponent allows you to be.

if Calzaghe hasn't beaten anyone world class, then neither did Hopkins pre Trinidad. Brewer, Reid, Mitchell, Woodhall, Sheika, Eubank are the same level as Keith Holmes, William Joppy, Antwun Echols, Glen Johnson, Mercado.

what many ppl are now overlooking is that Lacy was notoriously tough (overcoming many rough spots in his brief career), a proven puncher (dropped Reid a few times), hungry (willing to travel anywhere to whip arse), excellent fitness, and was improving with every fight (combinations, speed, flexibility).

now all of a sudden he's not? why didn't ppl know that before

No apply this to Saturday's fight and we get to a more realistic picture.

i wouldn't say Kessler's comp was poor. Siaca, Mundine and Lucas are world class, but obviously beating them only takes you so far. it does mean he's ready for a real fight, so I hope Showtime forget about a Joppy fight.

The Mundine fight was interesting as Kessler had a poor preparation for the fight, yet went to Oz and overcame problems to gut out the win/ make adjustments. But it does make me wonder if he'll be troubled by counter punchers who try and draw him in

I have to like what I see with MK as he has a sophisticated outside game, and has a good sturdy look about him.

But Calzaghe has already beaten several world class operators, so this fight merely reaffirmed that Calzaghe was world class, not proved it for the first time.

Exactly, and what some masterminds seem to be overlooking is the fact that Calzaghe was much better against Lacy that he was in many of his fights against lesser opposition... Calzaghe actually gets better the harder the opposition is....

What an embarrasing cock u really are pundit. I have never heard such rubbish in all my life. God knows why you are intersted in boxing becos I have never known a more blinkered, biased, ignorant and inaccurate account of a fighter in my whole life. You must be literally out of this world, perhaps mentally ill, cos the crazy crap you are coming out with should definately not ever be mentoned
