Mick Sturbs wrote:I heard this tonite. 10 X 3 non-Title fight as WBA have said no. So what is the point of Ricky giving up two belts for this?
Seems a mess and he should bail out and stay at home before he makes a real mess of his career.
There is no point in fighting Collazo with nothing to gain is there.
Warren must be laughing his head off over this debacle.
I hear Kery Davis is not happy and Don King has been missing from various publicity functions today.
Starting to sound a bit silly isnt it.
Maybe Witter in Sheffield would have been better

He might be. It seems there are just too many people involved.
Hobson, King, Pellullo, Waterman, Evans, Ray Hatton. fornicating hell. Talk about too many cooks spoiling the broth. Ricky's head must be rocking.
If the fight does happen... What price is Collazo to win?

So if its a no title fight, would this make Hatton the highest British paid boxer ever to fight in a non title fight.

It is unlikely that this purse would remain the same as TV and PPV figures would diminish somewhat I would assume. Still if this is the case Hatton only has himself to blame for getting tied up with a pack of fools and letting King control the shots, whether they realise it or not..
On another note, I must apologise to eatsleepandtalkshite as it now appears the WBU have received a letter from Robert Waterman cancelling his £5k pledge to keep the WBU bauble and as a result Hatton is officially stripped. So that's two down one to go!
Hatton without a title is a seriously devalued commodity and I doubt whether the likes of Mayweater or the big US names would bother with him with the risks involved if they have nothing to gain.
Back to my earlier point, why lose three belts, move up a weight and fight a non-title fight agsint a World Champion and risk everything for no gain. What is the point other than financial gain. Hardly the stuff of legacy and legend.
Ricky really needs to get a grip on his dad and evaluate where he may end up if all this goes wrong. It appears Ricky himself and maybe his brother are the only one's in the camp with the slightest idea about the business they are in.
Risks are great for the Sport and the afns but in this case I really don't see the point or see where this is going.

You are being a purest old son. The belts do mean something they mean power and money and legacy.

TV companies prefer having belts on the line, unless the fighter is a MASSIVE star of the likes of Gatti, Barrera, Morales, DLH then they want to be able to have the belt to validate the fight.

Even Gatti's fight vs Damgaard had to have a belt (IBA...)

to establish yaself i think belts are important.
but when u get to a certain level of prominence i don't think it really matters if u get stripped of em all.
hatton's top dog at 140 and if he fights there again no one will give a shit if he has those 2 belts or not.

He isn't big enough yet to make fightless belts a massive sell, not far off it perhaps, but I cannot see how he would have the profile yet.

Lewis won a tough 15-rounder on points.
I've read that Jocks hands were shot to pieces for that fight.

Yeah, I read about that to, Jock must be our hardest punching Middleweight ever?
By all accounts he feared nobody. He had brave managers to, as there was talk of putting him with big Tommy Farr at one time.

thanks for the apology Boxing Tw*t!
Once again I am forced to correct you, Robert Waterman has not written to the WBU regarding Ricky.
Ricky's purses for his next 3 fights are guaranteed and he will get paid irrespective of how many people pay for the fight or indeed if it is a title fight, which incidentially it will be.
You really should pay more attention when you are brewing up!

Honest, there hasn't been an ounce of advertising done for it here. I saw the same posters you have all seen, some saying yes title, some saying no, and that's it. No word around here whether or not it's for a title.
PS, tickets are not selling well at all. You can get 9th row tickets on ticketmaster still.

Well Title or not i think it's gonna be a good fight and i'm just thinking about other great non title fights Ward vs Gatti they never fought for any Titles and all three were 10 rounds so i'm just gonna concentrate on the positive's.

Hatton may well be guaranteed. But all this will ensure is that FA go bust. They are paying him too much.
