Which Jimmy Clark? The FW; hw? (I'm assuming the FW)
Nah, the hw from pa. He was right there with Frazier, tubbs, broad in the amateur ranks. Back when it was televised enough that I knew the top guys. Oddly enough, a Baltimore guy beat him before his life spiraled
He was smallish with a pretty fair afro, yes? What happened to him? looked him up, not who I was thinking about
I was thinking about Henry Clark.

I don't recall him being small. He had a fro and I know he was supposed to be on the plane that crashed. I think he got into some legal trouble but nothing specific comes to mind. Maybe he just did something else.

Starling? That's absurd.
Marlon was the man, but like Tucker, took 7, 8 years to win the belt. No way he should have lost to Vilela or Bumphus. I remember Milton McCrory basically saying he wasn't looking forward fighting him because of his defensive style.

and Mike Spinks.

All were too scared to put up a proper fight with Tyson. To quote a movie, "How does it feel to not even try?"
Add Bonecrusher Smith to that list :OhYes: .
LOL! Not the same. Bonecrusher lasted it out with Iron Mike, but the three I mentioned, especially Seldon and Stewart, were beaten before the opening bell. I've never seen fighters look so scared like that!
Don't you think it id odd that Bonecrusher waited until the last round to open up?

He wasn't a highly touted prospect and he did a lot. I guess you didn't see the bumphus fight. It was open scoring and they pulled him out from a nothing cut because they knew he was ahead. I don't remember seeing the vilella fight. But viella was the more highly regarded prospect. Looking at it that way, if anything Marlon overachieved.

Probably did, to a degree. Even though Ray Leonard would have beaten Marlon, I would still love to see that fight.

Jimmy was a good fighter, but I never looked at him like some of his contemporaries. And he probably should have turned pro a couple of years earlier. Even if the 1980 Olympics had happened for us, he would not have been a lock to win.
