yes, but you dont own the rights in the first place!
TV compaines spend thousands on the production of the programmes then you come along, copy them and sell them on. No different to someone selling your career sets on e-bay. All fair game.

No. He's just a copyright infringer like the rest of us.
So, has anyone had any of these super, sensational unbelievable quality fights from 4play yet?
Be sure to let us know. And i hope we don't get several new 'posters' suddenly appear singing his praises having never posted anything else. That does get a bit monotonous...

and as for the idiot saying it costs 6 pounds to make a 16 disc set
well why not try it then
im beginning to think im wasting my time on here
i only posted after receiving an email from another member
have fun either making your own 16 discs for 6 quid or buying from ebay
Thousands of pounds
buying fights? Hahahahahaha. If your stuff is as good as you say the other traders out there would be falling over themselves to
trade with you.

I have bought from both Collins2000 and red dragon in the past and can reinterate the quality of their fights.
I was not trying to have a go at a new poster, just relaying to others that their are other options for people to explore over and above the sets 4play offers.
Hope you stick around 4play and contribute to the site - with the number of rare fights you will have seen I am sure you have some good knowledge to pass on!

FIGHTFOCUS HAS NOW CLOSED
I just wanted to let you know that I’ve retired from the boxing business and
that, sadly, fightfocUS has reached its journey’s end. Whilst I feel thoroughly
privileged to have had this business and certainly it’s been a most enjoyable
number of years, I now find it to conflict with my Islamic faith and this last
month ceased to trade.
I am currently fulfilling outstanding orders and am open for any correspondence
but will not be taking any further requests.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for all your custom
and support and extend my warmest regards for you in the future.
Yours sincerely,
Dominic M. Foley
Probably because Islam forbids usury and extortion
Ebay is the best, you can get full sets for silly money.
You can't get 'em off ebay any more. They've clamped down hard on it, on the grounds of copyright theft.
.
Tell me about it, i was making good money on there, all my customers were happy 100% feedback and then they banned me :(

Open a new ebay account weekly - for tips IM me.
Not too impressed with 4play reporting people on ebay and taking a self rightous attitude. 4play how do you even know its your set they copied? It could just have all the same fights you have etc.
BTW all you are is someone who copies discs much like the rest of the people. Your assertion that all cheap copies are low quality doesn't hold weight, sometiems their perfect.
I don't have a problem with people selling discs at higher profit margins, most casual fans are going to shoot for the better value options none the less.

To get my sets at the 'right price' I scanned ebay auctions daily for months, often contacting teh seller directly and negotiating a price.
For someone who was so sure that ebays sets are pure 5hit, 4play obviously saw they as a threat to have people banned.
It is in 4play's best interest to close off this avenue for fight fans - people sell sets on ebay cheap beacuse of the huge turnover they can generate - its the worlds largerst market place after all - not because they are of low quality.
I bought about 25 career sets off ebay - tell me your email address Steve and I Will check if any of them are yours.

The amount some people are charging here is laughable. Many fights can be downloaded for free off torrent sites. Certainly all the latest fights.
I used ‘Emule’ to download both Hatton vs Maussa and Calzaghe vs Lacy, burnt to DVD and the quality was absolutely perfect. Flawless. I guess these guys are worth going to if you’re after a particular set of fights from yesteryear but otherwise don’t bother.
The fact that 4playfights can afford to do a ‘buy one get one free’ offer only serves to highlight how high his mark-up must be. £60+ for a few DVDs is just profiteering. Why encourage it?

I think it depends on how you look at it. Compared to what you would pay to get hold of something like that in the shops it's still pretty cheap.
Sure, it is only a few DVD's you are buying, but you're paying for the time someone has taken to put together the series of fights. You could argue the prices are a little high, but you are paying for the convenience of not having to go on the internet and do it all yourself and do all that editing. I mean, I don't think I could be arsed with it myself, seems too long winded and a lot of searching around.
I did come across much cheaper career sets on Ebay which Terrence pointed out to me I think, but when I emailed them, they didn't get back in touch, so there's something to be said for people touting their services, even if they DO cost more.
One issue is this though, surely legally speaking, there is no recourse if someone copies materials to which you have absolutely no rights whatsoever. At the end of the day, all fight tapes or DVD's are illegally copied, so I don't really see how you can report someone for then copying it themselves.

When you think about it, it shouldn't be illegal. Recording off TV. I mean, you pay your TV licence, you buy the TV set, you buy the DVD recorder, the blank media & subscribe to the channels: fvck what anyone says, it belongs to you & you should be able to do what you want with it. So & so company might have copyright for it. But still, these companies don't make the fights available
What is the alternative? Buy shitty Sun or NOTW highlight reel KO DVDs. Buy Calzaghe vs Lacy from HMV for £18. Do you even get the full fight/undercard?
There was a court case in America where someone who'd recorded off TV and sold things on got away with it. Happened in the '80s, I think.
The issue of ownership, IMO, is way out of line. There is technology being developed that will only allow you to watch a DVD on a single player. Soon you'll only be able to watch a film once. Things are going too far. If companies are charging top prices, who the fvck are they to do this? It's going so far that the bastards will be interfering with our viewing habits.

I am finding this quite tiresome.
I have bought around 25 career sets from ebay.
I would say that three of those are substandard. The rest I would grade as being good to excellent. You cannot refute these facts - you can call it fleabay all you want; you only denigrate the place as it was a threat to your set up
Of course 4playfights with his magical truly awesome 60 quid sets (buy them and you are officially 'mug of the week') has seen and reviewed every fight set that was for sale on ebay - what kind of idiots do you take people for??!
Tell you what 4play, send me one of your world beating 60 quid sets and I will give an independant assessment of it.
You could send your James Toney one if you like and I will compare it to the one I got for a 1/3 of the price?

and the crap sold on fleabay is crap dress it up however you like
find me one good set on there now i challenge you!!
they arent a threat and i knew they were my set as i sold it to one person who then opened an ebay account and re sold it many times
they even used my menus in the ebay advert
i stress i only reported the sellers of my sets after politely asking them to remove them. One threatened me with violence so I even offered to lend him a spare set of gloves and meet me in the gym down the road
he declined ...................
odd that!!
So you wouldnt mind if I contacted all the TV companies and asked them to investigate your copyright infringements on their materials? or perhaps trading standards? or would that be unfair.

Ebay has been shit lately with career sets, the only one's I can find on there are Tyson. I'm looking for Hagler Leaonard and Duran sets but £60 is abit steep for me.
Terry, £10 for the Toney set sounds mint! I don't cvare if the quality isn't excellent, I'm no perfectionist so have you still got his contact? Or know of any other sites? How much does red dragon charge?

Hey 4play do you ever get requests to burn the fights onto DVD but in xvid/divx format instead, so you can get 5-7 full fights on the disc instead of just 2 or 3. I got a little collection myself, RJJ, Lewis, Tyson career sets all on VHS, paid £15 for the load in freeads! Also about 12 tapes full that I've recorded myself but I quit taping them since I found WBVA. But you can't beat full career sets I guess.

£40 seems more reasonable especially when you consider that Warren is selling 100mins of footage from Calzaghe's fights for £20
Also I had no idea there would be 18 DVD's
