Silkov, what more do you need? Williams put some haymakers on Audleys jaw & he took them and fired back. That takes some balls mate. Williams hardly has zero knockouts unlike the fella Khan was getting tagged by.

Oh come on, the fact that Audely was troubled by the few punches that Williams did land says it all... I've followed Danny throughout his career and he's never been the same since the Klitchenko fight and had nothing but courage on Saturday... beating a shopworn Williams doesnt mean Audely is suddenly a braveheart, fighters are supposed to take punches for goodnesssake... as I said earlier, it was a step in the right direction but just that, some people are acting as if Audely has just beaten Joe Frazier or something, and judging by Audelys post fight comments his attitude is still totally wrong...
I mean this is the same guy who was willing to fight a 42 yearold Frank Bruno!... wake up!... I personally need to see much more before I become a 'believer'

Danny was clearly in no shape or condition to box. I hope Warren paid him well for saving his poxy show, becuase he certainly shouldn't have asked him to fight.
Danny was no where and Audley took full advantage of the situation as you should do. BUT even in the short time the fight lasted there were traces of the previous Audley, it's just that this time Audley knew nothing was coming back his way. So bravey was not an issue this time at all.
Audley post fight comments and attitude stunk to high heaven. I've defended the guy countless times but this was the straw that broke the back. He and is career can go down the tube as far as I'm concerned.
Totally agree, his post fight attitude was totally wrong, shame he couldnt have had some of the honesty and humility of Danny post fight, you'd have thought he'd just won a world title the way he carried on and what about all that crap when he said something like 'the public needs to let me get on with it now' ???>.... I mean wake up Audely it wasnt the public that made you fight like a tool against Guinn and Williams the first time!!.... and if it was then you're in the wrong buisness....
for me a lot of the positives were negated by Audelys post fight crap... Ali got away with it because he had humour and talent and the guts to back it up Audely hasnt the humour, and his real talent and guts are still very questionable...

Audley is a strange one to fathom. The guy is supposed to be intelligent, doesn't he have a Uni degree (I know, not worth much these days). However, what was that post fight interview all about. Why does he have to make the speeches down a camera instead of looking the interviewer in the eye and answer the questions.... its rude for kick off.
The man knows his PR isn't great, so why does he continue to act like a tool.
I know the public might not want it but he should have been man enough to offer Danny Williams a rematch, if Danny wants it. That first fight will never be forgotton and I still think a fit and focused Danny (when has that been though) is more skilled than Harrison.

As nice as it was to see Audley put in a decent performance (past performances aside both he a Williams seem like nice guys), he stll looked pretty amateurish and fairly ponderous in there to me. He just wasn't reacting quick enough, he was able to keep Danny at bay because he was even slower. I can't help but think a more in shape or better schooled opponent would have had a fieldday exploiting the openings. Could see him getting past Skelton though as he's not exactly "polished" either.
Don't get me wrong I wish him all the luck in the future I just don't think he looked as good as peopke are saying he did. The two most positive things were, 1) he actually seem willing to go onto the front foot and 2)when Williams was cut and tried to rush him to get the KO he didnt shut up shop, still looked a bit rabbit in the headlights though.

Oh please. You can go right back to 1999 to see a fat Williams plodding to a razor thin split decision over Harry Senior. Danny is what Danny is. Audley killed him, and as Danny said after the fight "i'd been training 8 weeks".
Danny gave him his respect after the fight, a few of you guys cant. I know who's opinion holds more weight!

one thing to consider, Williams is pretty durable. I give Harrison his credit for blowing him away. I've never once been interested in his career but now I'd like to see him in action again.
If Harrison can use some variety, dig in those shots, balance offense/defense, and most of all, upset his opponents by fighting like a real southpaw, then he will be hard to fight.
But, of course, that is asking a lot.
I'm getting cynical, so I hope it doesn't all go pear shaped, either in his performances or in his career path.

So if you are saying Danny was crap back in 1999, then why should we get excited about Audley winning against a fatter, slower, older and undertrained and demotivated version? You cannot have it both ways.

Danny's durability is about as consistent as his overall performances. Sinan Samil Sam isn't a big puncher, far from it. Then on the flip side you have his effort vs Tyson, Klitchsko and Harrison (first time).
I think it would appear that Danny doesn't have the naturally strongest of chins/legs and has to work on the aspect of his game in training. Did he do it for this fight?

God only knows, when it comes to Williams.
But I've only seen him fall to pieces once, vs SS Sam.
Chances are Audley will disappoint us. Not so bad, because not too many people have got their hopes high.
But he has shown some talent, and he fought like a legit big heavyweight for once.

Respect to Aud for getting the job done, better late than never. I've got nothing against the man, but let's be realistic: Danny was a nice fat sitting duck in there.
Trained for 8 weeks?!? Riiiiiiiight...he doesn't seriously train when he has a fight scheduled these days, so why would he train when he's only on standby? No sign of Jim McDonnell in there, which says a lot.
It's desperate times in the HW division, and the sight of sports network continualy dragging these tired old boys out for ITV main events is wearing thin.

Yes, that he did. He did look spiteful in there, and if he can replicate that against someone who still has ambition and fire in their belly, I will start preparing to eat my words.
Let's see him fight someone who believes they are in with a shot at a title down the line, another contender. Chances are though, it won't happen. I think Audley will try and secure a title shot by beating up on people he knows aren't much of a threat. God help him if he does get that shot against Wladimir without facing off against some decent opposition first.

People who criticised Audley for having no heart etc were perfectly justified in doing so & that does not make them idiots!
Audley was spineless against Williams & to lesser extent, against Guinn.
Just because he has finally shown some fortitude after nearly 7 years as a pro, does not make him the 2nd coming of Joe Louis.
It's easy to be wise after the event & insult people for having valid opinions, but the fact is, he deserved the criticism.
It was probably those critics which brought Audley out of his shell.
Had he listened to his jockstrap carriers, he'd still be walking around still thinking he was Joe Louis or something.

Was he spineless or was he just having a bad time of things??? Calling a boxer spineless and saying he hads no heart is a massive insult, Audley was having troubles outside the ring and it effected him in the ring (that doesn't make him spineless IMO).
Hes sorted his head out and last night he was impressive. Its a good start and nothing more, he's got to perform like that everytime he gets in the ring. Can't wait for the Skelton fight to get remade!

Any ideas what those problems were out of curiosity? I cannot remember Audley being in any trouble and he never said anything before.
Not saying he is not wrong, but he kept saying "well documented problems" (or words to that effect). I check the websites every day and cannot remember anything being mentioned.
I would like to know too.

Yes, it's incredible that people are forgetting the useless condition Danny shows up for even for a major fight he is expecting.
Everyone is getting well and truly worked up over a victory over a past it an out of shape journeyman, which I'm afraid what Danny has become. No disrespect to Danny, but the days when he was burning with ambition are long gone.
Let's see Audley do what he did against a fighter who believes they are going places. I'd like to see him in against someone like that Chris Ariola who was on the other week or a Tony Thompson type.
I'll bet a pound to a penny that Audley will look for someone who has already been discredited or who is washed up. If he wants a title shot in June, he'll have to do something to earn it. The likes of Jameel McCline, would still represent a quantam leap in Audley's career, in terms of the level of talent of opposition.

Exactly, if Audely gains a simular victory over Skelton then I would be impressed, but the fact is Danny has been on the decline since the Vitali fight, people are saying Audely deserves 'respect' but he only deserves the respect that any fighter deserves for doing the job on the night, he was hardly sensational... he beat a guy who is about 2 or 3 years past his best and who had taken the fight at just a weeks notice.... why should Audely have 'respect' for just giving the sort of performance he should have been delivering from day one... and he certainly doesnt deserve respect for his attitude with the media and fans... I've just watched the fight and post fight interview again and he comes across as a prize prat to be honest... you dont gain respect by talking into the TV cameras like some school bully and refusing to make eye contact with your interviewer etc... also his constant sniping at Mcguigan was unseemly, nodoubt he'd be willing to fight Barry if he was to make a comeback...

The fact that Audely is talking about a title shot against Klitchenko this summer makes me suspect that he just wants to cash in his chips and get out with with one big payday.... if on the other hand he really thinks he can go straight into a fight with Wlad and win then he's seriously deluded....

Yeah and what was all that bollocks about 'emotionally, physically, spiritually' blah blah blah.
Had he just said he was pleased with his performance and looking forward to getting back in the ring soon, he would have done himself a big favour, but he just couldn't resist running off his mouth about how he was going to unify the titles in 2008......my arse.
I cannot believe he complained about the public barracking he got after his last fight with Danny, I mean, people paid to see that bullshit, I stayed at home to watch that fight and wasted an hour of my life. Yet somehow 'the public' are to blame for not letting him 'get on with it.' Does he forget that it's the paying public who make his inflated earnings possible?
If Audley had displayed the kind of class Danny did after such a crushing defeat, he'd have a lot more fans.

I noticed Mcdonnell wasnt there which says that he probably didnt fancy the fight for Danny, certainly at such short notice.... without Jim I doubt Danny had done much training at all and with respect before the bell he looked like he was going to fall asleep in his corner, total apathy, ...his heart is just not in it anymore, and that was plain to see in the 2nd Skelton fight...

I agree with most of the comments here, whilst a reasonable victory and certainly the best of Harrison's career this does not even come close to redeeming his pathetic displays against Williams last time out and then against Guinn.
A win against a genuine live opponent is required but I still suspect Audley may go back into his shell when he feels in danger.
For me this win has just secured him another pay day and that's about all.

Yeah you can't really blame DW for his heart not being in it these days - not sure how much he's earned, but it must be hard to turn down Frank's last minute.com paydays.
The Klit beatdown was a career finisher if I've ever seen one.
Shows how desparate FW is with the ITV pressure - he says he's finished with Danny awhile back, then promtly puts him in 3 or 4 main events on the trot.
Do we really think he's finished with Scott Harrison? Doubt it somehow...

Well, this is it, ITV must have made some stipulations in their contract with Warren over the number of 'world title' fights appear on the bills. I should imagine that Warren is sick and tired of Scott Harrison, and the fact that he no longer has a title, may mean the end of the road, what use has Warren got for a guy with no title who is constantly in trouble with the law, and constantly pulls out of fights, the last thing he needs.
Who'd be a boxing promoter, let's face it.

I am happily in line with the general consensus of this topic. ITV's commentary is either dour or wildly over the top, one clean punch and Rawling is already administering his own 10 count!
Audley did what he had to basically do, go out and apply some pressure and throw some punches! The British public have clearly not forgotten the past at all hence the booing. Audley's over the top third person ramblings made me loathe him further, demanding respect off the public like it was his god given right. Someone should let him know he was written off simply because he put in two terrible, scared performances to Williams and Guinn.
This win over Williams proved nothing to me, the guy was there for the taking. Danny was a sitting duck, he stood in ring centre with hands cupped around face and invited Audley to tee off which he dutifully did, Williams token flurries were the last stand of a borderline shot fighter. Danny's balance was shot to shit, everytime he took even a cuffing shot he was lumbering around like a drunk.
Sorry but Audley may look impressive beating up this level of opposition but world class he aint, as soon as he faces a guy who give him angles and applies a bit of controlled aggression he is back on his bike trust me. I really hope he fights Skelton, that is one massacre i would pay to watch.
