let every Warren fighter get steered away from just about every meaningful fight. who gives a fvck - at the end of the day - about Calzaghe, Harrison and Enzo AGONIZING over who to fight.

It's all bollox

best raw talent in this country is Tshifhiwa Munyai, IMO. If he gets given the opportunities that the SN time wasters he'll have a body of work twice as satisfying. Tragedy that Asiku and Olusegun get blatantly ducked, whereas all ppl whose faces fit squander so many opportunities and ahve these 'world title' fights that half the time are anything but.

SN and Mr. Warren are in there own little fantasy Boxing world over at ITV. ITV has picked up the mantra of passing off fake titles as world crowns now anyway, giving credence to these parasite organisations only fuels their funds and keeps them in business.

Surely ITV know that Warren isn't exactly delivering. Yes, they have to talk up what fights they are getting, but surely allegedly must be catching some flak for failing to deliver (Skelton/Harrison, Calzaghe/superfight, Harrison/Cook, etc) time and time again?
Sky must be pissing themselves laughing since SN switched to ITV... They got to keep Ricky Hatton and ITV got mugged off with Joe 'when I'm not injured I'm fighting nobodies' Calzaghe and the Fraudley/Williams/Skelton side show.

Haye sets Maccarinelli deadline

David Haye has turned up the heat on WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli by saying they must meet in April or not at all.
Haye is ready to take on the Welshman ahead of WBA and WBC champion O'Neil Bell, but has told Maccarinelli it is a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

"April 2007 is my only timeframe for this fight. After that my schedule will only include O'Neil Bell," he said.

"If this fight isn't signed by 7 January 2007 it will never happen."

Welshman Maccarinelli inherited the title when champion Johnny Nelson was forced to retire ahead of their title bout because of injury problems.

Maccarinelli, a former WBU champion, has defended his WBO title once, against Mark Hobson.

Any clash with Londoner Haye would be a huge crowd-puller but promoter allegedly has dismissed Haye's previous offers as "outrageous", saying Maccarinelli deserves a bigger proportion of the suggested purse.

Haye's promoter Frank Maloney and manager Adam Booth hope the clash can go ahead.

"allegedly knows that David is free for one fight, to box on his show in Cardiff in April, if that is what it takes to get this fight on," said Maloney.

Booth added: "The idea is for myself, David and Frank Maloney to meet up with Enzo Maccarinelli and allegedly at an arranged location and thrash out the negotiations for this fight as soon as possible.

"We want to make sure that everyone is immediately aware of what transpires from the negotiating table and, if the fight doesn't happen, exactly who is ducking who.

"The only reason for this meet-up not to happen is if allegedly and Enzo Maccarinelli decline our invitation."
Come on then Warren put your money where your mouth is

So David wants to make the fight but sets a 10 day deadline to ink the contract.

I can hardly see FW sitting in a room full of journos discussing business either.

I don't mean to knock David and Adam because they have put the ball in FW's penalty box.

They want to make the fight happen, but the concept of how the deal should be done makes me laugh.

Sound like the best way to make the deal. Sit down and thrash out terms. If thats what it takes , do it. otherwise the fight will fall through. They are forcing the issue and making Warren look bad because it sounds like he wont risk Enzo in a great fight. Someone high up in ITV should have a quiet word in Franks ear and I think the fight will be made.

it seems that through 2004, Sky were not happy with what Warren was delivering, i.e. showcase after showcase. if i remember properly, Sky decided not to renew warren's contract because of the tosh they were paying for.

I read about the Jan 7th deadline last week, so it was abit more than 10 days.

I don't think the negotiations will be done infront of journos, just that the offers and counter offers will be made public, as they have been so far for this fight. Allegedly offered 125K plus 50k in tickets, Maloney/Haye weren't interested in the tickets offer they just want the cash directly, so Allegedly offered 100K plus 75K in tickets  Maloney has made an offer of 150k to Enzo/Warren which I believe they rejected and Maloney has nw upped it to 180K

I think if Warren makes a serious and sensible offer to Haye (without the ticket options) then the fight happens. I reckon they'll get Hayes services for 180k-200k, which I think is very reasonable for a fight of this size and it must be a marketers dream contest. 2 world level bangers on the way up and its a Battle of Britain.

Warren should dig deep and fork out the extra bit of wonga to get this on IMO :D , surely ITV are putting him under pressure to deliver

Is it THAT big a fight?

Just because it excites boxing fans, does not make it a huge fight. Neither man is exactly a household name, the kind of figures which get chucked around sometimes, are I think a little optimistic.

How many tickets could either man sell on the night? Remember there's no opportunity for a PPV if it's on ITV, so where does all this money come from? I don't know whether ITV negotiate a fee on a fight by fight basis, or whether they have a contract which guarantees a certain amount per fight, or how it works.

I think this is a fight which could be hyped up, but it would take some work, as Haye and Enzo are not exactly Benn and Eubank in terms of their drawing power.

When Haye and Thompson fought at Wembley conference centre, the turnout was pretty dismal, I'd say the fight would have to be in Cardiff, but I'm unsure about how many Enzo could guarantee. If it were on the undercard of a Calzaghe fight then we could be talking, but I don't think there's as much money to be slung around otherwise as some on here are making out.

Spot on...and this underlines the fact that Fwank is talking sh!t about how much Gonzo should get to face Haye.

A tip for the promoters. Arrange both of them to 'meet' at a central London nightclub, you know a real celeb hotspot where the press camp outside, then stage a bit of bother - some pushing, grappling, a few backhanded slaps and the like. Haye could turn up with Jade Goody and Enzo could have Joe just to increase exposure. Sort of like Christie/Kaylor except, well, fake. 8)

I think it's a massive fight, in terms of the amount of viewers it will draw to ITV if its built up in the way it should be. I reckon it could sell well, with it being an England-Wales clash and because of the type of fight it will undoubtedly be

Euro champ against a World champ England vs Wales, both in the top 10 in the world and both are HUMUNGOUS punchers with alleged frailties....everybody loves a knockout (especially the casual fan)!!!

If Warren can pay someone of Gammers standing £100,000, then why not pay a World Class David Haye his worth

I just don't think either man is anything like a household name. What I am saying is there would need to be other tickets sellers on the bill. Both men are by the sounds of it going to want approaching 200k, both see it as a risky fight, no matter what they say, either of them know the other guy has the power to end the fight and their current run up the world rankings. Enzo has a WBO belt to lose, and Haye has his WBC ranking, which potentially paves the way to some big fights, especially if he can convert that into a heavyweight ranking.

Without knowing the precise figures involved, it's hard to make proper calculations, but I think the fact that BOTH men will want a nice payday, makes the fight harder to make, bearing in mind the promoter wants a payday too.

It COULD draw viewers to ITV, but ITV are going to base their revenues on projected advertising revenue, and as they don't know viewing figures until afterward, will probably base them on what other fights in recent times have done in terms of viewing figures.

If Maloney can afford to pay Enzo £180,000 for the fight to go out on Sky, then £200,000 doesn't seem to way off

Haye is the bigger man i.e struggling to make weight and moving to heavy and so i think he will be the bigger puncher and stronger on the night. Why would Warren want to put Enzo in with Haye? If Haye wins (and the WBO title is not on the line) then Warren has a WBO champion who isnt even the best in the UK. Instead Warren could have Enzo defend his title to beatable opponents for the next dozen defences and make say 1 or 2 million? and build up the hype for Enzo.
So which option do you think he will prefer?
If he doesnt make this match I want to put a complaint in to ITV ( WE SHOULD ALL DO THIS) and I will never go to any of his productions again.
