Not so great for Warren though, as he wouldn't be running the promotion.KO Artist wrote:It would be the biggest purse of Joes career, but some margin I beleive.Max Molyneux wrote:Don't see It happening In Denmark and rightfully so since boxing Is not very popular over there.

So they shouod turn down the offer because it's offered in dollars and not in pound sterling...Max Molyneux wrote:Yes all Warren has to do Is call the bluff but In an Instant, people like Pundit assume Warren's the fool already because there Impatient and over emotional.
Sure they'll obviously know the offer In pounds but why does Palle bother to offer It in Dollars? Joe's not American. Most boxing fans and promotors seem to be speaking In American English.

In defense of Warren/Calazage the only reason they can offer him $5m is because Calazage brings US TV and British TV on the PPV rights. Theres probably US$9-$10m in the pot for both fighters.
Kesslers offer probably amounts to a 50-50 split or maybe 60-40 in Kesslers. No way Calazage accepts that. The best Kessler is going to get is 40% - Warrens offer was probably 35%. Kessler should have just taken the fight because what other options are there for KEssler? Not many hes not getting any American names thats for sure.

Why no exclusive UK and US TV rights for Calzaghe in Palle's offer!? It's worse than SN's offer to Kessler. You do know that Danish and German TV rights are not that valuable right? Why on earth should Warren have exclusive US TV rights? It's Calzaghe vs. Kessler that makes this fight sellable and interesting for HBO, not Calzaghe alone. For Calzaghe vs. bum #44 I wouldn't pay a lame cent.Taki... wrote:Why no exclusive UK and US TV rights for Calzaghe in Palle's offer!? It's worse than SN's offer to Kessler. And why are 5 million net "worse" than 3 million gross?
Maths doesn't seem to be your strong point (probably because it's correlated with IQ).
Is it Calzaghe's fault Kessler has no audience in his own backyard? I bet Palle probably want half the TV revenue, despite the fact is their man probably brings less than 30% of the paying audience. Palle's offer is a joke. Instead of wasting everyone's time with laughable 'counter offers' he should try and negotiate Warren's original offer. It's clear to me neither promoter actually wants to make this fight, so throwing the blame around whenever an 'offer' is made is pretty pointless.shot wrote:You do know that Danish and German TV rights are not that valuable right? Consistent with either man's track record.
Bollocks. It's clear as a bell Palle has no intention of making a serious offer. Calzaghe probably made close to $5 million fighting Manfredo in his own backyard. The only way Kessler is getting big fights in Denmark is by taking a seriously low % of the purse. Warren offered around 5 mil to Taylor and everyone said it was a joke... the same is true of Palle's offer now.pundit wrote:Wrong -- Palle wants to make the fight, Warren doesn't.Taki... wrote:Is it Calzaghe's fault Kessler has no audience in his own backyard? What are the numbers then? Im sure the Warren proposed Calazage-Kessler worked out to $7m to Calazage $3m to KEssler plus Danish and German TV rights. The thing is, Palle might be offering to pay 5 million, is this an 'all in deal' with Palle holding on to TV rights, or does this offer any cut of TV?
allegedly isn't going to make anything on this deal, other than his 25% managers cut, which amounts to a fairly tidy sum I suppose.
Has Palle really got the money to make that offer? How much would he be paying Kessler.
I really am getting absolutely sick and tired of the endless waffle surrounding boxing. I hope that Oscar and Floyd put on a show, and the Hatton fight is good, because I feel myself becoming very jaded indeed.

Pundit the pound/dollar thing Is Irrelevant really, I mentioned It because I find It weird that they're offering an offer In dollars to a person who doesn't even live In America.
I see you still misread my posts and that you don't understand Logic.
If Warren made an offer than by logic he wants the fight.
Just because Palle says 5 million doesn't make It a good offer straight away. Sorry, but your no promoter or fighter to say whether It's ok to take.
You see 5 million and Instantly assume It's good.
Joe might lose on Tv revenue or ticket sales. How much did Joe get for Manfredo?

Could you for once come up with a little supporting evidence, please? When Calzaghe was offered 3.4 million half a year ago the saying was that this would have been by far his record purse. So 5 million should be his super-super-super-super record purse.Taki... wrote: Bollocks. It's clear as a bell Palle has no intention of making a serious offer. Since when is Calzaghe Taylor? Taylor vs. Wright is of course the bigger draw in the US than Calzaghe vs. Kessler, hence there was more money involved. However, Calzaghe vs. bum #44 is no draw at all.The only way Kessler is getting big fights in Denmark is by taking a seriously low % of the purse. Warren made a joke offer which by logic implies that he does not want the fight. If Warren made an offer than by logic he wants the fight.
He has done so often before.
It's certainly much better than Warren's offer. If Warren can generate more money -- make a counter-offer.Just because Palle says 5 million doesn't make It a good offer straight away. You tell me. Since Warren's fights never go to purse bids (a consequence of Joe carrying around the WBO "belt" that comes without mandatories, independently appointed referees, and transparent purse bids) we can only guess.Joe might lose on Tv revenue or ticket sales. How much did Joe get for Manfredo?
Otherwise, see above.
I agree, calzaghe and allegedly frank may not end up with intergalactic TV rights and asking calzone to fight for only a few million more than his previous highest isn't worth the risk..best take on Inkin instead 8)
Its funny how the crotch sniffers start to worry about how much poor Joe will be making when they're looking for excuses for the fight not to be made...
At the end of the day, calzaghe's legacy is seriously flawed because two of the fellow champs who were around at the same time, Ottke & Kessler, will probably end up compiling a more credible resume...Calzaghe-Kessler is the only fight that matters.

It's pointless offering any amount of money for Calzaghe to fight Kessler in Denmark. The fight has to take place in the UK or on a neutral ground. Kessler may be an elite fighter but Calzaghe is still the bigger draw and the more established champion. Calzaghe is still the top guy at super middleweight and always will be in most people's eyes until Kessler proves otherwise.
Team Palle must realise that they need to be more conciliatory in their negotiations than allegedly otherwise this fight has no chance of being made. Basically Kessler needs to take a gamble if he wants to get Calzaghe into the ring, take a less than 50/50 split and fight in the UK. Kessler has a lot more to gain from this fight in terms of money, in the long run than Calzaghe does. If he wins then he will become a bigger star than Calzaghe is now but at the age of 28 and can then command massive purses for the remainder of his career.

Why do I have the strange felling that Kessler and Palle can offer whatever they wish, Warren won't allow this fight to happen -- and Joe will gladly play along.Les Kendal wrote:It's pointless offering any amount of money for Calzaghe to fight Kessler in Denmark. $5 million US is about £2.5 million pounds. Easily a career high purse for Calzaghe.

I think that if an offer came in from Kessler that was quite generous to Calzaghe, let's say a 60-40 split with the fight also taking place in the UK then the offer would be accepted. I'm sure Warren would prefer a higher reward, lower risk fight with Jermain Taylor but that fight looks increasingly unlikely. I don't think it is the case that allegedly wants to avoid Kessler at all costs. If everything is in his favour and the price is right, I think he will make the fight.

Easily a career high purse -- but a far too risky fight.
That's what it always comes down to. the fWanker is throat fvcking British boxing. He can't put on a fight unless he can take over the OTHER guy's career in case the challenger wins. Madness. I hope every media outlet has the balls to chastise the fWankstain.
Anyway, this is straying off the subject. I hear that he's in intensive (delusional, disappointing) negotiations with Roy Jones Jr.
I don't think Palle has as much clout as he lets on. Let's not forget that Palm Promotions helped out Team Palle to take the promotion away from Golden Boy Promotions.
Whilst $5M will probably be a career high payday for Calzaghe. $3M (plus TV rights) would have also been a career high payday for Kessler, which got turned down. Warren has already clearly stated in the past if this fight is going to happen then it will not be in Denmark and I doubt Fwank will allow Palle to promote the fight. If Palle and Kessler really want the fight then they will come to UK.
