his dad seems a down to earth kind of chap.....i mean if there was a history then maybe it would explain 1 or 2 things but his dad must be 60ish and seems healthy enough.
I wonder what Scott's compulsion to drink is? (if indeed the stories of alcoholism are to be believed......don't forget 90% of stories in the media are based on shite and the other 10% are totally made up)
Anyway good luck to the lad, he's trying to get some structure in his life again it can't be a bad thing.

His dad seems ok but one of the people he was with when he got in trouble a while back was his uncle, who doesnt seem to be a good influence at all... its possible that theres a history of these sorts of problems in Scotts family...

I love how the sponsors are all for alcohol treatment. Not that I can talk with this name.

hes too well known for his antics up here so it would only be tough for him in the respect that ppl would try to get him down and drag him into trouble.he only has to step out in town and he gets bad publicity.

I have to agree, people who give their liver a hammering do normalise as the liver heals itself naturally but continued abuse does result in scarring which is permanent - We are all different and some people have problems earlier than others so moderate drinking is wise - Its not a good thing for people to think the liver can regenerate itself time after time because it cant - There does come a point when the liver hardens and protudes and your skin yellows which is pretty serious - My point was, once the liver is damaged nothing can be done to reverse that damage and the liver cannot repair itself, but yes in the short term it can deal with disorders.

you are correct, the liver is the only organ that, if partially removed, it will regenerate. the tongue also has these capabilities but this is because its a well used muscle and adapts accordingly if it is partially removed due to tumour etc.

the post at the start of the thread states that the liver does not regenerate, i think the poster means that once the liver is damaged due to alcohol or drug abuse, then it does not have the capability to replace damaged cells etc.... the brain is similar when damaged by trauma etc.

Yes Rhino that is what I mean, thanks for your help.

I think the difference is that the liver can regenerate a bit from certain damage, but when it becomes scarred or when parts of it die (which is basically what happens with cirrosis) damage like that does not mend itself. People dont really realise that they are 'damaging' their livers to a certain degree everytime they drink, ....certainly binge drinkers are. Its quite disturbing really when you think about it....

I don't know about his training, but i can't see him getting back in the ring anytime soon, he doesn't hold a boxing licence at the moment, as he handed it back in to the BBBoC.

Also he has alot of legal cases still on going, he was back in court this week , here is an extract of what he faced this week.

Mr Harrison, from Rutherglen, denied all of the charges against him when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Westwood Public House, in East Kilbride, and East Kilbride Road, in Rutherglen, on 13 July last year.

The sheriff said the 30-year-old should stand trial later this month.

The former WBO featherweight champion is accused of committing a breach of the peace in East Kilbride Road and assaulting William McCallum by punching him on the face.

Taxi fare

Later in the Westwood Public House he is alleged to have committed a breach of the peace by challenging staff to a fight and behaving in a threatening and menacing manner.

Mr Harrison is also accused, along with another man, of assaulting Brian O'Neill by brandishing a knife at him and threatening to stab him, and grabbing Catherine Polockus around the throat and pushing her against a fridge.

He faces a further charge of taking a taxi on 14 July last year and not paying the £9.40 fare.

I just can't see the BBBoC giving him his licence back until these are cleared up.

He may go down the route of getting a licence from Republic of Ireland.

I have to wonder if Harrison is really serious about making a comeback or if that little fanfare recently was all done with the court cases in mind and trying to reduce the fallout of his actions. If he's seen to be straightening himself out and back in training you'd think the courts would be more lenient. Time will tell I suppose.

I would have thought Scott might need to come back for real for financial reasons. Training to get into fighting shape might also keep his demons at bay.

his license is only suspended until he appears before the board regards the cook fight,it was his dad who handed back his lisence.
