Quite. Lets look at this - Haye fought a live opponent, with a sterling pedigree, away from home, and came away with two alphabet belts, the Ring strap and respect as the genuine number one in the division. Which of these would he have gotten for fighting Maccarinelli?

Allegedly should have said "You could have all seen Haye VS Enzo earlier this year when Haye was chasing the fight, but I had to put Enzo in with Bobby Gunn after I fcuked it up by insisting on options on Hayes further career if he beat Enzo"

Now thats just mean. Allegedly it was Haye's fault for wanting a fair split of the purse and failing to recognise Maccarinelli as the true linier champion of the world...

Yeah, MTG accuses people of things and the thread is allowed to pan out, we point out that F is not the second coming of George Plimpton and the thread gets pulled.
I don't think that happens but appartently because of his hallowed position as a boxing promoter we shouldn't realy be dissagreeing with him and to do so is quite innaproprerate

Its a pity The NOTW and The Sun don't employ the same approach

I'm truly amazed that, after watching Hide's career disappear over the last 10 years, he his held in such high esteem.

If EM wasn't an FW fighter he'd be getting a lot more props for what he does in the ring, ie the Braithwaite fight.

Hide wouldn't have a prayer against him at this stage in his career.

Herbie Hide is guarenteed entertainment inside and outside of the ring though.

At the moment the jury is still out on how good the new version of Herbie is because he ain't fought anyone with a pulse yet, but I hope (rather than expect) he can still cause some ructions (sp) on the world scene. Its too early to right him off as a force IMO.

How were the B'Day celebrations CH?

look man, Hide was heavyweight champ same time as Lewis. He's still around and will get similar success as a cruiserweight!

What are you basing this on? Which of the fights in the last five years or so have proved he is still world class?

Are we supposed to just agree because three or four on here like the fact he's entertaining...(he's not entertaining, he's a lunatic)

Whereas Macarinelli is world champ and getting better.

There's no logic to it......

He's one of these people will still support while watching him through clenched hands, waiting for him to either get lucky with a punch and KO someone, or get floored, wich is usually what happens when he steps up in class or gets tagged....

An entertaining lunatic what is not to like. Don't know about the come back but its hard to deny his achivements as a small man at HW, if the cruzer division had been at that weight then he would be lauded as a great by this country.
