Whereas Mayweather was fit and composed. The KD was a perfect left hook, followed by a great assist from the turnbuckle

I didn't get to see the KD cleanly because some chooch stood up in front of the TV, but on replays and wonderful gifs on the net, and knowing Hatton was OK after the fight, the ringpost KD was absolutely hysterical.

I have to agree with our American cousins on this one. PBF totally outclassed Hatton in every department. Hatton, as I said before, got himself in the fight he needed to be in but PBF nullified his work on the inside by continually moving his arms and manouvering his body so that Hatton’s main strength was ineffective. And when there was a bit of distance PBF caught Hatton with the more significant shots.
But since this thread is about the officiating – I have to agree that Cortez was poor. The point deduction was for Hatton hitting the top rope after Mayweather went through them. If Cortez is going to deduct Hatton a point for that, then he should have deducted a point from PBF for constant use of the forearm in Hatton’s face.
With this said it had no bearing on the outcome and Mayweather showed himself to be a truly exceptonal fighter. There can be few complaints.

The point I was making ( I was writing the initial thread during the fight between rounds so was a little upset!!) was that Cortez just didn't allow the clash of styles to mix as he continually broke the two apart when Hatton tried to do his work up close. Mayweather would still have won the fight but wouldn't it have been nice to at least see RH do what he is good at? I was looking to see how PBF was going to deal with a full Hatton onslaught. But it didn't happen.

Hatton had a chance to do what he does best from rounds 4-10, and he accomplished nothing.
Full Hatton onslaught was never going to happen with a fighter as educated as Mayweather. Hatton's got away with it with lower level fighters because they didn't have the ability or smarts to know what to do in that situation.

The turnbuckle was damaged more from the full Hatton onslaught in round ten than Mayweather was in the nine rounds preceding it.

Ah shut up. And what would he have done in those rounds to have beaten Floyd? We all saw what happened after the ref stopped interfering, maybe he was only doing it for Rickys safety.

Not sure if Cortez really said this but It's from some Spanish newspaper or something.
“It’s only the Brits who are criticizing me” CORTEZ
“The ones who have criticized me are the Brits, they are used to fighting dirty and using those tactics” CORTEZ
“Maybe in Europe they allow him to do that but I don’t allow that. Its simple, I cannot allow that. No one in the United States has ever said anything like this to me. It’s only the Brits. However, we have to understand that their fighter lost and that’s why. He wasn’t allowed to fight his style” CORTEZ
Regarding the point deduction of Hatton.
“If he hit him hard or not, I have no Idea. It may not have been intentional, but it was a dirty blow. I had to take control from the beginning. I always tell trainee referee’s that you must take control of the fight early or you will loose control” CORTEZ
When asked why he didn’t take a point from Floyd Mayweather for Elbow’s?
“Mayweather wasn’t using the elbows to hit him or cause him harm, he was just defending himself” CORTEZ

I only today got to watch the fight..
And having read about hatton complaining of the elbows/forearms/ref I just thought he was looking to off load the blame..
But fair do`s
Cortez was onto Hatton worse than shit to a blanket :x
Mayweather used the elbows and forearms continuous..
Ok all good pro`s use them to a certain extent, but they keep a lid on it so as not to get the wrath of the ref...but the ref let him get away with it all night
Once or twice Cortez pulled Mayweather up for it....but he didn`t stop talking to Hatton and calling to him whenever they got close....that alone must have broken Hatton`s concentration :x
And when he warned him between rnds he`d stop the fight if he took anymore.....that just messes a boxers psyche alltogether..
I think Hatton has every reason to complain....and on that showing I see no reason why he should consider retiring.
