Eubank had two good performances (Rocchigiani, Wharton) in 20 fights.
He did show some awesome boxing skills against Benn in 1990, but after that became crap again for four years.
Too many rubbish performances (as in the worst balance on the frontfoot I've ever seen, etc) and gift decisions.
If you didn't just stand in front of Eubank he was basically not very good ;)
Utter rubbish. Eubank won his decs on offensive skill,as in much greater quality punches than his opponent,and better economy. He was never actually outboxed. He mastered it like no other,using quality punches (as in proper technique) to grind opponents down over a fight,because they'd be hard punches from the foot. Then he'd use the flashiest of flurries to nick the later rounds,and he'd already won the early rounds because his opponent would always need a few rounds to get used to his awkward movements. And he did this,what,20 times in 4 years? Over 12 rounds for a world title. Thats AMAZING.
And,his record wasn't really that bad. Actually it was pretty good. Benn twice,Watson twice,Sugarboy Malinga,Lindell Holmes,Collins twice,Graciano Rocchigiani plus a host of young unbeaten prospects. Pretty good compared to some guys.
And when he did fight a raging bull like Benn(1),Thornton,Wharton or Cronin his jab,movement,combinations and flurries were about the best you'll see. Beautiful. He loved it.
Roy Jones is the best fighter of the past 15 years. Although he fought some hand-picked opponents in between, he did defeat prime Hopkins and prime Toney and a dozen other very good opponents.
Mayweather has nothing on his resume that compare to Jones best two wins. PBF has never defeated a top five p4p opponent (even Hatton has done that with Tszyu) nor has he defeated a prime age HOF candidate (DLH was past his best).
