Exactly, total stupidity and ignorance displayed by both sides, black and white - One man doesnt speak for us all - Minter should have been ignored.

i hope you were being ironic waylon because i certainly was. minter was as responsible for those riots as my great great grandmother - and she died in the 1930's

With regards hating a british fighter, thats too strong a word.

But i was very sad to see Naz leave prison in a bloody limo full of champagne after nearly killing a man and then running off.

On a seperate note, Kevin mitchell reminds me of the kemp brother that played the gay Kray twin :D

On the racism issue I remember after Herol Graham beat Vinny Paz I was on a bus reading a newspaper report of the fight and the old lady sat next to me started going on about how terrible it was how 'all of those black fighters come and beat ours up.' I tried to explain that Herol was ours but she wasn't having it.

Hamed is probably the only one I realy disliked although he was great entertainment and it certainly was enjoyable to see him get a pasting.

As for American fighters....

Hide is a certified pr1ck..but Hatton come on...if you've ever met him you will see what a decent, warm and likeable guy he is.

I cannot understand this dislike on Hatton.... it seems Brits (or at least those on this board) just love to give hatred to successful British fighters.

Hatton (unlike Benn, Eubank, Collins, McGuigan etc) faced the best - sure he came up short but had the guts to go to the US and face the best in the world.

As an aside towards the 'racism' conversation going on in the background, all this multicultarilsm wet dream, is idealistic and flawed in reality. Not to mention the gist that it is white people that are standing in the way of integration between races.

I would advise a school trip to Muslim communities in Bradford, Leeds, Tower hamlets etc and see how much the communities care about any involvement with other cultures.

Even in BRixton where I live, people of races largely stick together.

This is not to say there will not be more integration, but where cultures clash severely in core beliefs this is virtually impossible.

As an aside when I was in VEgas I spoke to loads of people, and out of all the British black people I spoke to - only one was there to support Hatton. All the others were Mayweather fans.....

I live in Brixton, and whilst there is certainly a large amount of black cliques who don't hang around with white people, there is certainly plenty of integration if you walk around Brixton Market you see Indians, Afghanis, South Americans, English, West Indians all working side by side.

Of course Harry, I was very aware at the time what was behind all the unrest in the country - I knew several lads off the North Peckham estate where a lot of the London trouble was initiated - Although I left London in 1971, I continued to spend a lot of time there - Peckham was a very dangerous place after darkness fell back in those days.

Although its recently closed down I used to use Brixton Snooker Hall a lot. Everyone got on well in there.

i firmly believe that employers should be made, by law, to employ a cross section of youngsters.
getting ordinary work if youre from an "ethnic" background is still very difficult.

kids need jobs not youth clubs

Ricky Hatton took a risk against Mayweather cos he got probably the best pay day of any Brit fighter in history. He offset the risk against a pot load of cash. OTHERWISE, I VERY MUCH DOUBT HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE TROUBLE. AS I'VE INTIMATED BEFORE I DON'T BELIEVE IT'S THAT KIND OF A CAMP IN GENERAL.
To say what you've just said about RH whilst in the same breath bringing the size of Nigel Benn's gonads into question is utterly ridiculous.

I think that's a little unfair. Both are proud and courageous warriors. And of course Hatton should go for the best payday - he's risking his damned health!!!!!

I think the Hatton backlash is grossly unfair.

Apart from Mayweather, which was a moneyspinner, I don't recall RH getting into the ring with any sprightly, not past their primes champs. He won't touch Witter cos he knows what Witter will do to him. Tsyzu wasn't exactly in the shape of his life.
Compare that to Benn who got in with Mclellan and Eubank who were both in tip-top fighting condition, to name but two.

Most councils have a policy to offer work to people from ethnic cultures and a percentage of disabled people also - Many large firms are now comitted to follow suit but I do agree with you the government should be doing much more.

much more. its still too easy for small firms to get away with petty racist attitudes and to cop out.
