Does make me wonder if he's giving ground like that against a flyswatter what on earth would he be doing against a big banger like Katsidis?

khan has certainly gone up in my estimation after this fight. i thought he showed maturity and great technical skill, but i dont think he is no where near world class at the moment.

I agree. Let's be honest St Clair is one of the worst genuine world champs of recent times.

Since when did boxers take to the Kettlebell? Shades of Kerry Kayes again. A slight power gain at the expense of punch stamina is never worth it IMO. If I was boxing I'd much rather have a former cardio-based athlete training me. A retired decathlete would be ideal.
Khan's going to drain himself too far or have to move up soon. As for his performance tonight: he was very open to the short left hook after throwing a right. A good mover will trouble him; he didn't know how to deal with St. Clair's vertical movement, because he couldn't utilise his speed for a combo.
Increasingly, as happens to all boxers when they advance, his power appeared less dominant. He'll be well-matched over the next few fights, before his first loss.

decent show by khan but when a guy cant hurt you you can then fight your fight with no worries. this guy wasnt in limonds class in the power stakes!! jeeez.
still he boxed pretty well did AK. took quite a few rights which makes me think this problem is one that will remain with him through the rest of his career.
what was truly appaling though was the commentary and pre-fight BS.
not once thru the whole coverage did anyone mention the glaring fact that st claire didnt have a punch to trouble my grandma let alone a hot prospect like AK. bigging up his showing against corrales - nearly nine years ago folks - and keeping those swear words "featherweight" and "superfeatherweight" hushed for fear of offending our too
tender ears.
well, gentlemen, this is amir khan not far from the finished article. he aint gonna get too much better than this. bigger, yes, but not very much better. is it good enough?

Good post
One thing i noticed is Khan rarely stood his ground all night,to much back peddling against a smaller fighter from Amir Khan tonight

Speaking of the commentary, did I not hear Rawling (when discussing the fact that St. Clair was Kostya's sparring partner) proclaim that Tszyu was "a few years ago, the best pound for pound fighter in the world"? Slightly over-egging the pudding there....
As for the fight, Khan is simply a victim of over-exposure. I thought he did pretty well tonight. Yes, St, Clair couldn't hurt him (rather flying in the face of the claims that Khan's chin is so weak that anyone who hits him can hurt him), but I felt he was fairly mature and rounded tonight. The trouble is, his own words, and the ITV hype have lead people to have unrealistic expectations. If he hadn't been a star since he was 17, we'd all proclaim this a fine display in a tough learning fight, indeed one that had come along much quicker than usual for a British prospect. As it stands, we all expect so much of the lad, we're in danger of running him down, even as he gets ahead of the usual schedule.
I don't think he's doing too bad for a lad with very little experience in the amateurs (as a senior) and only 16 pro fights.

Khan used lateral movement yet he doesn't use up unnecessary energy. It was a solid performance, 1 that will help him shape future blueprints against aggressive foes. Not awe-inspiring but it's a nice step forward after knocking out Earl (and a fairer indication of where he's at than the Earl fight). If Harris and Corrales couldn't stop St Clair then few ppl will. Yet Khan did have him surprised/stunned a few times with fast shots.

And procede to give the typical `Khan Fan` descriptions of the greatness of Corrales

.. and Harris
And forget to remind the viewer those results were the best part of 10yrs ago .. and 26 fights ago
I`ve only watched St.Clairs fight with Corrales - and he looked on that showing good enough to push Khan all the way - and possibly dangerous enough with his looping right hand to stop Khan ... though as said that was almost a decade and a career full of fights since.
Khan shut out pts winner.
u gotta crystal ball in the house

khan would dismantle the fragile katsidis provided he landed first, which I think he would. he needs to be kept away from the big guns though.

for his 16th Bout, thought he did well.
he won 120-108...
If there is a concern in Amir's Camp with Amir's Retreat Strategy.. im sure they will work on it.
he's not the finished article yet, so he is going to make some Mistakes
