The movement of Ali at the time was such that his left leg applied the brakes and his balance was shifted over to the left when he twisted the blow over and into Liston. At any given moment in a fight you are shifting your balance from one foot to another and moving your body weight accordingly, all interlinked with your shoulder movements. He had to shift the balance to his left, if it was to his right he would have either broken his own ankle or ended up splayed on the canvas.



End of story. Now, this inability to understand the most basic points probably explains why you never made it and why you are a bitter old prune.

In fact his right leg was twisted around behind his left leg so that he had no weight on it at all.

The NEW YORK TIMES boxing "expert" is thrilled with this great "knockout" punch, as was his cohort, the lady writer from the Village Voice.

And the boxrec Ali worshipping contingent, led by buzz, collins, etc

thrill to the magnificence of this powerful punch. What a way to throw a right hand.

It was SO powerful that Ali,

WHO NEVER SCORED A KNOCKDOWN (much less a knockOUT) in the first round of any title fight he had,

knocked out Liston.

Just ask Norman Mailer, Joyce Carol Oates, buzz, women writers from the Village Voice, the NEW YORK TIMES experts, and of course Sports Illustrated (with resident shills Pat Putnam, William Nack, etc etc)

and they will tell you this was one of the "greatest punches of all time."

balderdash. When you have spoken sensibly on a subject of which the facts suport your claims, I agree with you. When you sing out your selected passionate religious hymns from the heart, I check the facts and respond accordingly. Even in these cases you have been credible on occasion....like the perverbial stopped clock.
